This week me and Matt had the great honour of being joined on the podcast by legendary, Hall of Fame boxing writer Jerry Izenberg.Jerry's been covering boxing for the Newark Star Ledger in New Jersey since 1950 and has seen it all; from the post war period when the Mafia controlled boxing right up until the present day.Name an iconic fight during that period and Jerry was ringside. This week me & Matt Macklin take a deep dive into the biggest upset in boxing history, James Buster Douglas’ stunning win against the unbeaten, undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world Iron Mike Tyson. Douglas 42/1 with the bookmakers when he walked to the ring in Tokyo in February 1990 and had been written off by everyone. Well, not quite everyone. Tim May was ringside covering the fight for the Columbus Dispatch, Douglas’ local paper in Ohio, had known Buster for years and was the only person to predict a Douglas win.
