Ep 217S7 E84: Man City 5 Luton 1: Were there positives in this pummelling?
Thankfully that one is out of the way! The Town went down 5-1 to the world champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a game of little significance to the Hatters’ survival chances. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to reflect on a tough afternoon at the office with a briefer than usual look at the 90 minutes, with the boys choosing to offer up more perspective than dwell too much on a defeat to the best team in the country. The chaps do find some positives to pick out though and then there is the reaction from Rob Edwards and Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, who made a 400th appearance for the club in the match. The podcast them concludes with a look at the relegation battle as we get ready to start the run-in. Luton Town face the toughest of all challenges on Saturday afternoon as they head to the Etihad Stadium for the first time in 13 years to take on the world champions Manchester City. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the daunting task. The boys reflect on the difficulty of the test, albeit one which might see the Hatters face a rotated City side in light of the Champions League matches they are playing either side against Real Madrid. The lads then work out who could replace Issa Kabore who is ineligible before looking at ways Luton could just have a bit of joy in the match. As ever the podcast concludes with the score predictions. Do either predict an away win!? Ep 209S7 E76:Spurs v Luton preview: Is this a free hit? And will the injury crisis ease?
Football is back! Enough of that boring international break and let’s get ready for some Premier League football and a huge game for the Town away to Tottenham Hotspur. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan Dan Barratt-Davis to look ahead to the game with the podcast beginning with a look at our opponents and where their threats generally lie. A couple of key battles in particular are also highlighted. As ever the preview podcast concludes with the score prediction. Is anyone brave enough to predict a Luton win? Listen in to find out! He is back! LTST Chairman Tony Murray joins the gang for our March Deep Dive where the discussion centres around the Premier League' profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) and points deductions. Kev is also joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan Dan Barratt-Davis to look at the pressing issue of the current international break. Is a point deduction fair? If so did Nottingham Forest get the right punishment or should they be stronger? Should there be any sympathy for clubs who break the rules? The boys then turn their attention to the wider game and the battle to avoid the drop in the Premier League. Listen in as the lads talk about the upcoming Independent Regulator who is being introduced to football. Can he or she solve all of the problems within football? What should be their immediate duties and just how powerful can the regulator be? The attention then turns to the survival battle. Just how confident are the chaps that Luton will stay in the Premier League? To help them decide they pick out a couple of potentially key men for the remainder of the run-in. Ep 207S7 E74: Luton 1 Nottingham Forest 1 reaction - Berry's late goal "felt like a winner"
It was another late show for the Town as Luke Berry notched his first Premier League goal to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to reflect on a day which looked to be putting a nail into the relegation coffin before the undertakers were waved away… eventually! The boys look back on the 90 minutes as a whole, highlighting the bits which Luton did well as well as the times where they rode their luck a little, not helped by a shambolic display from the officials. James also gets post-match reaction from Rob Edwards, Teden Mengi and the hero Luke Berry while some other key performers in the match are discussed. Ep 206S7 E73: Luton v Nottingham Forest: We must rise Tyson Fury style and fight for the biggest game EVER
Strap yourselves in for the biggest game Luton Town have ever played when Notts Forest are the visitors to Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe, who issues a rallying cry to all Hatters with a ticket for the game to make Kenilworth Road hell on earth for Forest, before the boys highlight the magnitude of this game and what each result means. As always on a preview podcast, the attention turns to some threats in the opposition before the lads take a guess on which players could be available to give whatever they have for the cause. There are ways to get at this Forest side and both chaps highlight how that can be done before reflecting on the need for positivity with the Luton destiny still very much in their own hands. The podcast concludes with the score prediction. Do either of the boys dare predict a Town win? Listen to find out! Ep 205S7 E72: Bournemouth 4 Luton 3: Gutting and embarrassing, but here’s why we can’t dwell on defeat
It was the archetypal game of two halves as the Town surrendered a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3 to AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday night. Kev and James get together to try and make sense of exactly what happened in Dorset on a night which offered so much hope for the Hatters but ultimately ended with so much disappointment. The boys highlight the brilliance of the first half before trying to explain the second half demise before highlighting the much bigger picture in the battle to beat the Premier League drop. There is no way this podcast could pass without referencing the incredible scenes before the game and after 59 minutes as a tribute to the whole evening away from the game is done justice of. Ep 204S7 E71: Bournemouth v Luton preview - Expect an emotional return to the scene of Lockyer shock
An emotionally charged evening is in store at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday when Luton Town head back to take on AFC Bournemouth in the rearranged game which was suspended the first time around after the cardiac arrest suffered by Tom Lockyer. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to a huge match for the Hatters but also reflect on the trickiness of the encounter both in terms of the opposition and the psychological impact. As ever on a preview podcast, the boys pick out three threats within the opposition before taking a guess, and in light of the lengthy injury list it is a huge guess, at how the Town might line up for the game. The attention then centres on the best ways Rob Edwards’ men can go about getting the win and who the key players in the game might be from a Luton standpoint. We finish with the score predictions and plenty of homage and respect to our opponents off the pitch for the wonderful way they have conducted themselves over the last three months. Ep 199S7 E66: Luton 2 Man City 6 - reaction: Haaland is a monster, but here's the problem we now have
Ouch! Luton Town bowed out of the FA Cup after a 6-2 fifth round defeat to the holders Manchester City on a night where two visiting superstars completely tore the Hatters ragged at Kenilworth Road. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and the Luton Town Disabled Supporters’ Association board member Steve Moore to reflect on a tough and perhaps chastening night of football. The boys pay homage to the world-class talents of Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne before going through the areas where positives can be taken from a Luton perspective as well as a reminder of the bigger picture. The chaps reflect on a couple of comments from Rob Edwards’ post-match press conference and debate the words in full. We also discuss Jordan Clark, Joe Johnson, Daiki Hashioka and a whole lot more on the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Find us at: https://www.lutontownsupporterstrust.com Find all the latest Luton Town news at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Still images of Luton match action are by Liam Smith Photography. Ep 198S7 E65: Luton v Man City - FA Cup preview: Can we do the impossible?
Luton Town put the Premier League to the backburner for what could be a special night on Tuesday when the best team in the world head to Kenilworth Road for the second time this season as Manchester City are the visitors for an FA Cup fifth round tie. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to have a look at what could be an epic evening under the floodlights as Luton look to end the cup defence of Pep Guardiola and his men. The podcast begins by looking at how Manchester City could line up at Kenilworth Road. Will Kevin de Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland be involved this time or will they be saved? Who will line up for Luton on the night? Do Albert Sambi Lokonga, Alfie Doughty or Elijah Adebayo get risked for the match? Who starts in goal and will we get to see a first glimpse of Daiki Hashioka? The lads look at all the possible options. They then look at where Luton can punch a hole or two into this City side and as ever the preview podcast concludes with the score predictions. Do either Kev or James predict a cupset? Ep 197S7 E64: Liverpool 4 Luton 1 reaction: Here's why getting outgunned at Anfield won't hurt Hatters
For 44 fantastic minutes we were dreaming looked on but ultimately Liverpool were too good for Luton Town in a 4-1 win for the Reds at Anfield on Wednesday evening. Kev is joined as ever by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on a night which offered a lot of hope but delivered much in the way of eventual disappointment too. The boys reflect on all of the key incidents in the game, highlighting the big turning point in the 90 minutes before offering some perspective on what turned into a tough night in the office for Rob Edwards and his players. While paying tribute to a team who were just too good on the night, the chaps find some positives for Luton to take from it both in personnel and the bigger picture. Ep 196S7 E63: Liverpool v Luton preview: Could the Hatters be visiting Anfield at a good time?
16 years on from the last time Luton Town went to Anfield, the Hatters head to the red half of Merseyside on Wednesday evening to take on the Premier League leaders as Liverpool are the opposition for Rob Edwards’ men. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to a daunting looking clash, although could Luton be getting Liverpool at a good time in light of the number of home players out injured or doubtful, and a cup final just four days away for the Reds? As ever, the boys pick out the threats from the opposition before looking at how Luton could line up in the big game. Will the Hatters make any more changes to their starting XI? The chaps then look at the ways that Luton can get at this Liverpool side as they look to pick up the first truly big scalp of the season, before the podcast concludes with the score predictions. Ep 195S7 E62: Luton 1 Man United 2 reaction: Gaffes, ref rage, but pay Arsenal what they want for Sambi
Gutted but so very proud! That was the feeling of Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe after witnessing Luton give everything they had but come up short to go down 2-1 to Manchester United. Listen to the boys recap the major moments of the 90 minutes including all three goals and the many other chances that came along over the course of what was a pulsating contest to witness. The big talking points include the terrible display by a set of officials who started the game badly and got progressively worse before the key men in a Town shirt were profiled individually, including the best piece of defensive midfield play Kev has ever seen! Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins. Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League. The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves. In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves. We have defended the Club in the tough times and maintain a shareholding in the Club to ensure we are able to protect and celebrate the future. We act as custodian of the image rights of the Club – to protect the Club name, kit colours, Club crest and mascot for the long-term interests of the Club. And like our Club, we have integrity. We believe in fair play and are committed to represent the fans and influence the regulation and its enforcement of football. And to collaborate with other Trusts to share our ideas, learn from best practice and presented a stronger voice to the authorities. Join the Trust for as little as £10 a year (adults) and £5 for children and seniors. We offer exclusive benefits, podcasts and meet the manager and players events and are committed to continually improving the experience of the Hatters’ fans, bringing the team closer to the fans and bringing the supporters’ voice into the boardroom, validating proposed activities and decisions that impact the fans. We encourage the you to get involved, to enjoy the thrill (the ups and the downs!) of supporting Luton Town, and we raise money for both the fans and the community/charity, along with the Club, to help with immediate needs as we have seen during the recent COVID crisis, and to build a better future through significant capital projects.
Ep 194S7 E61: Luton v Manchester United preview: Red Devils will be prime targets for this Town tactic
Luton Town go up against the biggest club in the world on Sunday afternoon when Manchester United are the visitors to Kenilworth Road. Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan and actor Sam Gittings to look ahead to the big game. Will Luton bounce back from their disappointment of last week? As ever, we look at the chief threats that United bring to the party before the attention turns to any team changes Rob Edwards could make to head into the clash against the former champions. The boys then look at how Luton can get at this Manchester United team with a number of areas in focus in particular. The podcast then concludes with the score predictions for the match. Ep 193S7 E60: Luton 1 Sheffield United 3 reaction: Forget Sandwich-gate, the Blades had Town on toast
Well that wasn’t part of the plan was it? Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and to dissect the disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United alongside special guest Sam Gittins, a Hatters fan and actor who is currently appearing in Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's TV series Masters of the Air. The lads reflect on the game and where it went wrong for the Town in a 90 minutes where they never really punched any holes in the Sheffield United defence before going through the goals and how the Hatters repeatedly shot themselves in the foot. Hear post-match reaction from Rob Edwards, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Chiedozie Ogbene before the podcast concludes with a look at a couple of things that make our club so great and the latest developments regarding Power Court. Ep 192S7 E59: Luton v Sheffield Utd preview: Have you ever been annoyed by a sandwich?
So here it is. The biggest weekend of the season so far as Sheffield United are the visitors to Kenilworth Road for a match which could see the Hatters taking an enormous step towards survival in the Premier League. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to preview a second successive opportunity for Rob Edwards’ charges to pick up a first double in the Premier League after the 3-2 Boxing Day win at Bramall Lane. As always, the preview podcast begins with a look at the opposition and the perilous position they are in and how that could be to the Luton advantage with threats and weaknesses pulled out in depth. The chaps then look at how Luton will hurt Sheffield United and the personnel they might use to do it before the podcast finishes with the score predictions. Will the lads pick a home win? Ep 191S7 E58: Newcastle 4 Luton 4 reaction: Pure mayhem, chaos, Adebayo's mojo and Barkley for England
WOW again! After the incredible night of football at the Kenny to see off Brighton last week, Luton went to St James’ Park and became the first team to score four goals at Newcastle in the Premier League since 2021 on a memorable Saturday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to recap on a 90 minutes which nobody will ever forget. Even the day after the game the chaps are still in some disbelief at what they saw! As ever the podcast begins with a reflection of the day as a whole, before a deep dive into the action with all eight goals picked apart and analysed, with one man in particular quite rightly getting all of the plaudits. The podcast also includes a reaction to just how mad it is that Luton are not just prepared to go toe-to-toe with these teams on their own patch but also that they are capable of doing it, before the attention turns to some performances that shouldn’t go unnoticed in an orange shirt. All this and so much more on a slightly extended episode of the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League (where we are staying!!). --------------------------------------------------------------- Find us at: https://www.lutontownsupporterstrust.com Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Still images of Luton match action are by Liam Smith Photography. Ep 190S7 E57: Newcastle v Luton preview: Mengi returns... but does he start against striker light United?
Luton Town head to St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon looking to complete their first double in the Premier League. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the fixture with the podcast beginning with a look back at recent meetings between the sides and why there is every reason to be optimistic ahead of the contest. The podcast then turns the attention to the host team on Saturday and the many injuries they have, which could be very much to the Hatters’ advantage, especially as Teden Mengi and Jacob Brown are fit and available for Luton. The talk then moves back to Luton and who could come in and out of the side for the Tyneside trip. As ever the boys look at where and how Luton can get some joy against this Newcastle side and who the key players could be in the game before ending with their score predictions. After a good run will the boys pick an away win? Listen to find out! Ep 189S7 E56: Luton 4 Brighton 0 reaction: Adebayo on fire and is Rob Edwards Luton’s best ever manager?
WOW! Luton Town came out on top on what was a memorable evening of magical football under the Kenilworth Road lights when a inspired displayed by Elijah Adebayo carried the Hatters to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on a night no Luton fan will forget as the Town battered Brighton in ruthless fashion. Listen to the boys discuss the emotional scenes before the match when Tom Lockyer did a lap of honour and that incredible start which saw the Hatters 2-0 up before Brighton had kicked the ball in the Luton half. The chaps then reflect on the remainder of the incredible evening of football and go on to cover how the formation change that was discussed in the preview episode paid dividends. We hear interviews with the hero of the night, Elijah Adebayo, and the man who masterminded the victory, as Kev starts the debate: “When do we start talking about Rob Edwards being Luton’s greatest ever manager?” The podcast concludes with a look at our new signing, Japanese international Daiki Hashioka, and, away from football, some big news for town of Luton as a whole. Ep 188S7 E55: Luton v Brighton preview: Have you clocked Town's tactic tweak that no-one's talking about?
Premier League football finally returns to the Kenny after an entire month when the Town look to show their immense improvement from the opening day of the season when Brighton and Hove Albion are the visitors. Luton were well beaten in that first game but Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to discuss how things could be much different this time around. As always in a Premier League preview show three dangers in the opposition are spotlighted before a look at how the Hatters could line up on Tuesday night and ways in which Luton could hurt the Seagulls and how the game could play out. There is also a discussion around a massive tactical switch which has largely gone under the radar before the chaps give their score prediction. Ep 187S7 E54: Everton 1 Luton 2 | FA Cup reaction: Last-gasp Woodrow winner but Super Ted the hero
It was revenge for 1985 and 1986 as Luton went to Goodison Park and won for the second time this season as a 2-1 win for the Hatters earned a fifth round clash with the cup holders Manchester City. Kev is once again joined by a rather happy The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on what could be a huge day not just in the FA Cup but also in the survival battle this season. The boys reflect on the 90 minutes from start to finish, eulogise over a key man in the victory (spoiler alert for once it wasn’t Ross Barkley!), sift through the major moments in the game and highlight the big parts of the win. The attention then turns to three men who have been on the fringes of things in the Premier League this season before a look at some transfer news which could see some changes to the Town squad in the coming days. Ep 186S7 E53: Exclusive deep dive with Luton chairman David Wilkinson on transfers, finances, stadium news
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and they have a very special guest with them for the January Deep Dive as Luton Town chairman David Wilkinson comes in for a chat. The podcast begins by looking back on the season so far with the high points discussed as well as the chances of avoiding the drop and how a significant transfer deal was actually done. It is January, so inevitably the attention turns to the transfer window and whether we might see anyone coming or going before we discuss the club's financial accounts, which were released. The lads then chat to Wilko about the ongoing improvements both on and off the pitch including safe standing which is currently being installed in the Oak Road end before the discussion moves onto the latest surrounding the Hatters' new stadium plans at Power Court. There is then a lengthy chat about finances in football and the state of the game as a whole before we cover topics such as the wonderful medical team that saved captain Tom Lockyer when he had a cardiac arrest, the club's fantastic work in the community and the academy. Ep 185S7 E52: Everton v Luton FA Cup preview: "Give the ball to Ross Barkley" | Ryan Giles transfer exit?
Luton Town return from their winter break with an FA Cup fourth round tie against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the clash as the Hatters head to the blue part of Merseyside for the second time this season. Will Ross Barkley’s return to Goodison see a second Luton win on the ground in a matter of months or will the tables be turned? Who should the Town look out for in the Everton side and who should Rob Edwards select to attempt to win the tie? And will Ryan Giles still be a Hatter as Hull bid to sign him? Ep 183S7 E50: Bolton v Luton - FA Cup 3rd round replay preview - "We've got to be winning games like this"
It is the replay that Luton didn’t want but the Hatters travel to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Tuesday evening looking to book a spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Trust board member Helen Gatward to look ahead to the replay which will hopefully be much more entertaining than the 0-0 reverse fixture. The trio discuss how strong the Town should go in terms of a starting XI and a couple of players who they would like to see involved before looking at the impact a run in the cup could have in light of a trip to Crystal Palace or Everton being the reward for the winner. As ever the podcast concludes with the score predictions. Does anyone see an upset do they think the Town will progress? Drop your predictions in the comments. Ep 182S7 E49: Burnley 1 Luton 1: Not a foul. There’s only a debate because goalies get too much protection
Town left it late but they came away from Turf Moor with a more than deserved point on Friday night. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Trust board member Helen Gatward to dissect Burnley 1-1 Luton. There is no skirting around it on this podcast. The trio start by looking at the big incident in the game. Was it a foul or was it a legitimate goal? There is a big discussion on the equaliser before the attention turns to the many Town players who excelled on the night with tributes paid to two who haven’t seen much football recently. The chat then turns to a key transition in the Town game and what that can mean for the remainder of the season before a final reflection on what turned out to be a crucial night in the battle for survival. Ep 181S7 E48: Burnley v Luton preview: ’Cruel’ summer is all the motivation Andros needs in MASSIVE clash
Luton Town are back to Premier League action this week with a Friday night foray to Turf Moor to face familiar foes Burnley in a huge relegation six-pointer for both clubs. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to what promises to be a defining match in the season of both teams. The podcast begins with a look ahead to the opponents and where the threats might come from in their ranks before the attention turns to the likely Town starting XI - which should include Andros Townsend who had spent all summer at Burnley before the withdrew a contract offer at the last minute. We look at where Town can hurt this Burnley side and how they can do it. The podcast concludes with the score predictions as always with both chaps predicting goals in the game! Ep 180S7 E47: Luton 0 Bolton 0: What is it with cup games against lower league teams?
Well that wasn’t great was it!? Luton Town began 2024 with a tame 0-0 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round and Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to dissect what little action there was. Listen in for the boys’ views on a tough 90 minutes to watch, albeit one which got better the longer it went on, who and what the positives from the match was and their opinions on a key decision in the contest. There are also post-match thoughts from the boss Rob Edwards and second half substitute Jordan Clark as well as reaction to the fourth round draw which will see the winner of the replay travelling to either Crystal Palace or Everton at the end of the month. And there's a discussion of why recent criticism of new fans inside Kenilworth Road needs to stop, plus the one thing that is the biggest legacy of owners 2020. Ep 179S7 E46: Luton v Bolton: Magic of the cup or ’meh!’? | Andros Townsend - new deal reaction
The Town park the Premier League action for the magic of the FA Cup as Bolton Wanderers are the visitors to Kenilworth Road for a third round tie on Sunday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead of the Hatters’ opening match in the competition with a reflection on the importance of the cup, both to the Town and to the two chaps. But first of all, the news broke hours before recording that Andros Townsend had signed a contract extension to stay a Hatter for the foreseeable future, so we discuss his move and his impact since joining the club. The attention then turns to the visit of Bolton, where two former Luton players were expected to be involved, however that is already down to just one with the news that Carlos Mendes-Gomes is already away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Two other potential dangers are highlighted. The boys then put themselves into the shoes of Rob Edwards to try and come up with the potential starting XI for the game. Will there be wholesale changes or just tinkering to the team? As ever the podcast ends with the score predictions and news of a couple of gifts given to James with big Luton connections attached to them! Ep 178S7 E45: Luton 2 Chelsea 3 - Instant post-match reaction and exclusive bonus player interviews
Here’s our instant match reaction from Kenilworth Road with Kev and James a few minutes after the final whistle of a frustrating 3-2 defeat to Chelsea as, with New Year celebrations in full flow, we won't be able to bring you a full studio reaction podcast as normal. But you'll have seen part of this on our social media channels yesterday (and if not that's a good reason to give us a follow), but we promised you some exclusive bonus player interview reaction content... so here it is. Hear from: Rob Edwards Ross Barkley Tahith Chong Carlton Morris Andros Townsend (including his update on contract negotiations) Let us know in the comments if you like this type of content and we'll see if we can do more of it in 2024. Ep 177S7 E44: Luton v Chelsea preview: Is this the least daunting match of the month?
For the second time in 21 months, big spending Chelsea are the visitors to Kenilworth Road, only this time the two sides meet as divisional rivals rather than in an FA Cup match. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan Dan Barratt-Davis to preview a match which could very well give an obvious sign of the improvement Rob Edwards’ side have made since losing 3-0 to the Blues in their second match in the Premier League. As always in a preview podcast the boys pick out three main threats in the visitors side, one of whom has already ripped the Town apart this season, before looking at how the Hatters boss could set his own side up and where they can get at Chelsea. The discussion then turns to who might be best served to start for the home side in what should be a great afternoon as the Town go in search of a third straight Premier League win, 32 years after they last did it in the top flight. Back in 1991 that was achieved at home to the Londoners. Can Town do it again? The podcast concludes with our score predictions and then as this is the last full studio podcast of 2023 the boys pick out their favourite moments from what has been a truly memorable calendar year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Thanks to the Hightown Club in Luton for hosting our video podcasts. Ep 176S7 E43: Sheffield United 2 Luton 3: ...Jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see Luton win away!
Remember when Garth Crooks said we'd be relegated by Christmas? Instead, Luton Town celebrated with a cracker of a come-from-behind victory at Bramall Lane as the Hatters beat Sheffield United 3-2 in a chaotic clash. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan Dan Barratt-Davis to recap and review a crazy afternoon, beginning with the dominance the visitors showed in the first half before the chaos of the second one. Special mentions get handed out to a number of star performers on the afternoon as well as the man in the middle, Sam Allison, who made the spectacle what it was. Once the presents have been opened, the has been turkey eaten and the Christmas sherry quaffed, attention will turn to the Boxing Day trip to Bramall Lane as Sheffield United host Luton for the second time in nine months. Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the Yorkshire clash with the podcast beginning by looking back at the last time these two sides met at this famous venue. The boys pick out three threats in the opposition, each of whom we came up against last season, before reflecting on the change of manager in this part of the world. As always, the focus then comes back to the Hatters and any potential team changes that Rob Edwards might make, with the prospect of that high calibre midfield trio we have spoken so much about in previous podcasts potentially being on the pitch at the same time for the first time. The lads look at where in this Sheffield United line up Luton can get some joy in attack before they conclude with their score predictions for the game. All this and plenty more on the only podcast that has gone from League 2 to the Premier League! *Please note that due to the Christmas schedule this podcast was recorded before the 1-0 win over Newcastle United. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Find us at: https://www.lutontownsupporterstrust.com Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Thanks to the Hightown Club in Luton for hosting our video podcasts. Ep 173S7 E40: Luton v Newcastle preview - Cheers for Tom Lockyer, jeers fears for sportswashing
Newcastle United head to Kenilworth Road for the first time in 29 years on Saturday afternoon and Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to preview what is set to be an emotional day. The boys begin the podcast by sending their best wishes to Tom Lockyer and Glen Rea before congratulating the Luton Ladies side on their recent FA Cup win to set up a high profile clash against WSL side Brighton in the next round. A look back at the last time the Magpies played at Kenilworth Road follows from there. When the attention turns to Saturday, James refuses to separate football from the sportswashing efforts of Newcastle's owners. But we still manage to pick out three dangers in the opposing side that are beset by injuries. The focus then goes onto the Town, who will obviously be forced into one change to their starting XI. Replacements for Lockyer are discussed as well as any other switches Rob Edwards could make to his team. The boys then look at who in the opposition can be targeted and the potential key performers over the course of the afternoon before finishing with their score predictions. All this and a lot more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!
Ep 172Stay strong Tom Lockyer and thank you Bournemouth fans - a short message
We won't be bringing you a full size post-match podcast this week because, frankly, after the cardiac arrest suffered by Tom Lockyer, football isn't important. But we did want to record this short message in support of our captain and our hope that he returns to health. We love him to bits and just want him to be safe and well. But we also want to say thank you to everyone connected with AFC Bournemouth. Your reaction and support on the day and since has been remarkable and we'll never forget it. Also, please do support each other and speak up if the events of Saturday have effected you. Take care and we'll be back when football returns
Ep 171S7 E 39:Bournemouth v Luton: Is Adebayo or Morris the main main upfront now?
Luton Town head to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a huge game of Premier League football and Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to what many will describe as a must-win game. The boys show respect to the opposition the Hatters will face by praising their recent form and some key decisions that they have made before picking out three dangers that the Town will need to contain in order to have the best chance of getting a result. The attention then turns to how the Hatters will line up and who will replace Marvelous Nakamba in the centre of the park as well as a possible surprise at the heart of the defence and maybe one up top as well. You don’t just want to hear our thoughts so we get the early impressions ahead of the game from three members of the Town squad. Before the podcast concludes we recognise the wider picture than just the game by praising a member of the Cherries squad before a score prediction with a difference! Ep 170S7 E38: Luton 1 Man City 2: For 17 minutes, Adebayo’s goal had 10,000 of us dreaming
It isn’t Groundhog Day but once again it was so near but yet so far as for the second time in less than two years Luton Town led the European champions only to fall to defeat as they went down 2-1 to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. Yes we were all dreaming that the seemingly impossible could actually come true for 17 beautiful minutes but it wasn’t to be! Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe for the Man City review episode of the podcast with the boys looking back on how the 90 minutes transpired, how Luton largely held their own and contained the champions for large periods. The boys once again eulogise over a special piece of football that led to the Hatters opening the scoring before dissecting the goals which ultimately sent the Town to defeat. There were plenty of positives and they all get highlighted and the episode includes the reaction of boss Rob Edwards, Marvelous Nakamba, goalscorer Elijah Adebayo and Jacob Brown. All this and lots more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!
Ep 169S7 E38: Luton v Manchester City: Fairytale or farce? Charge it!
Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe are back to look ahead to the European champions coming to Kenilworth Road on Sunday as Luton Town go up against Manchester City. The podcast begins with James ranting about City's 115 Premier League charges for alleged breaches of financial regulations, before we pick out three of the many threats that the champions will provide to the Town. The indifferent current form of City is discussed, particularly in their back line and the boys look at which Luton players can take advantage of the leaky nature of the visiting defence both tactically and in terms of which personnel will be used for the game. There's plenty more besides as well as the score predictions as always on the only football podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Thanks to the Hightown Club in Luton for hosting our video podcasts. Ep 168S7 E37: Luton 3 Arsenal 4: Pain, pride, poetry in motion and reasons to be cheerful
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on a remarkable night of football at Kenilworth Road as Luton suffered a heart-breaking last-gasp 4-3 defeat to the Premier League leaders Arsenal. The boys begin the podcast by going through the 90 minutes, picking apart the good bits from the game and the bad on what was a true rollercoaster of emotions. The chaps were in no doubt who was the standout player in a Luton shirt on the night and spend lengthy periods of time eulogising over the impressive talent that is Ross Barkley before reflecting on the belief everyone can take out of going toe-to-toe with the best team in the country at present. We're also they only Hatters podcast to bring you interviews with the key men and on this episode we get the post-match reaction of Gabriel Osho, Barkley himself, Andros Townsend and Rob Edwards.
