Originally a weekend warrior from Oakland, Connery decided at the age of 16 to move to Squaw full time to pursue his dreams in ski racing. As many pro freeskiers learn racing just wasn't for him so he transferred his energy and abilities to competing on the Freesking World Tour. His decision paid off as he won the tour in 2015 but by then he was, once again, ready for a change.

After a long, awful year of terrible luck, injuries and personal setbacks Maude decided to simplify her life so she got a dog a van and hit the road. As a very creative person, she realized that she needed less to create more and that the nomad life offered her an opportunity to do just that. To be completely free to learn what she does and doesn't want in life.

Since winning the overall title in 2012, Reine has been a consistent threat at every FWT event since. With his fast, hard charging, take no prisoners style of skiing, a podium finish is never out of the question.

Tyler Curle, like most of the guests on this show, grew up in a skiing family. Born and raised in Reno, both of Tyler's parents worked at Mt. Rose, the smaller, lesser skied hill in the Tahoe area. His dad was a groomer and his mom has had her hand in almost everything thing else at the mountain.

Jackie Paaso has been a competitive skier for most of her life. Originally from Foxborough Massachusetts, about an hour south-west of Boston, Jackie and her family ended up moving to Maine where she would harness her talent as a up and coming mogul skier. She would go on to collect many accolades throughout her mogul career and was touted as one of the best in the country. For some reason though, perhaps politics, she wasn't chosen for the US Olympic Team, which was her ultimate dream.

Markus Eder is one of the most well rounded skiers on the planet. It's easy to fall into hyperbole when trying to describe the merits of someone who you believe is the one of the best. In his case, it's the truth. Raised in Klausberg, in the German speaking area of Northern Italy, Markus started ski racing like most kids there did. After a few poor experiences, at age 14 Markus decided to tell his parents he was done with racing. His love for skiing and life took a huge turn when he was given a copy of PoorBoyz Productions, Happy Daze.

New Zealand's Jossi Wells has established himself as one of today's most versatile freeskiers. He's represented his country at the Olympics and has won X Games medals in 3 separate disciplines including big air, halfpipe and slopestyle where he won gold in 2016. He's achieved a lot in his career and there are two things he attributes his success to above all else; family and faith.

Tanner is competing on the Freeride World Tour and we connected in Golden BC, at the event at Kicking Horse . I expected we'd talk about things like his run and the mental and physical preparation leading up the events. The conversation we had got much deeper and far more personal.
