The Minnesota Wild picked up a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes at home Thursday night. The Wild improved to 32-19-4, and 12-12-1 at home with the win. Filip Gustavsson was superb in net for the Wild, stopping 38 of 39 shots, and the Wild got scoring from Yakov Trenin and Vinnie Hinostroza to back Gus. The Hurricanes were trailing 2-0 in the final minutes before Sebastian Aho scored with an extra attacker to cut the lead to 2-1. But Gustavsson slammed the door shut ant the Wild picked up a much needed win at home. The Wild held the Hurricanes off the board on 2 Power Play attempts, but were 0-3 on the Power Play themselves. The Minnesota Wild suffered their second consecutive shutout as they lost 3-0 to Boston to finish their 5 game road trip 3-2. The Wild had a better effort than their previous game against Ottawa, but the offense couldn't generate enough quality chances against Jeremy Swayman, who held the Wild off the board. After a scoreless 1st period, Boston scored twice in the second period on goals from Trent Frederic and Charlie McAvoy to take control. Despite a flurry of chances late, the Wild could not put one on the board. The Wild did not surrender a Power Play goal, but did not score in 4 Power Play attempts and a 6 on 5 at the end of the game. The Wild fell to 20-7-3 on the road, and 31-19-4 on the season. The Minnesota Wild picked up an impressive road win over the Colorado Avalanche by a score of 3-1 Monday. The win improved the Wild to 28-15-4 and 17-5-3 on the road. The Wild fell to 11-10-1 with the loss and are now in danger of falling out of the 2 spot in the Central with Dallas just 1 point behind. The Minnesota Wild lost their first game to the Colorado Avalanche this season by a score of 6-1. The Wild, missing Kirill Kaprizov, Brock Faber, Jonas Brodin, Jared Spurgeon, Jakub Lauko and with Marc=Andre Fleury sick, fell behind 2-0 early on before Zach Bogosian scored for the second straight game to make it 2-1. After that it was all Avalanche, as the Wild wait for their injury report to lessen sometime soon. The Wild did not surrender a Power Play goal, but the Avs scored while shorthanded in the win.
