Unhurried Living | Helping Christians Rest Deeper ... - When Leadership Feels Like It All Depends on You

Strength is easy to admire. But in the kingdom of God, strength is not where leadership begins.

In this episode of the Unhurried Living Podcast, Alan explores a different vision of Christian leadership—one rooted not in self-sufficiency, but in shared weakness, daily dependence, and confidence in a living Christ.

Drawing from the witness of the Trappist monks of Algeria, the wisdom of Andrew Murray and A. W. Tozer, and insights from recovery communities, Alan reflects on what it means to lead from honesty rather than performance. If Jesus is truly alive, then leadership is not about managing a legacy—it is about participating in his present life.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

Why shared weakness is essential for spiritual leadership
• The difference between serving a memory and walking with a living Christ
• What Andrew Murray called the “burning heart”
• Why spiritual receptivity may be the defining quality of enduring leaders
• A simple daily prayer that reshapes how you lead

If you’re feeling the quiet pressure to hold everything together, this episode will gently remind you that you were never meant to carry it alone.

Connect with Alan on LinkedIn or learn more about Unhurried Living programs on their website.

Learn about PACE: Certificate in Leadership and Soul Care

Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

So Much More: Scripture Meditation (Lectio Divina) - I AM The Resurrection and The Life | John 11:21-27

In this meditation of our Lenten series, I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus, we reflect on one of Jesus’s most powerful declarations in John 11:21–27:

“I am the resurrection and the life.”

Jesus speaks these words to Martha in the middle of grief. Her brother Lazarus has died. The loss is real. The disappointment is honest. She tells Jesus what many of us have felt:

“Lord, if only you had been here…”

Into that place of sorrow and confusion, Jesus does not offer an explanation. He offers Himself.

He does not merely promise resurrection someday.
He declares that He is resurrection.
He is life.

This is the heart of the gospel. Death does not have the final word. Sin does not have the final word. Despair does not have the final word.

In this guided Scripture meditation, you are invited to identify where you need Jesus to be resurrection and life in your own story. Through slow readings of John 11:21–27, you’ll be guided to reflect, respond honestly, and renew your hope in His promise.

The story of Lazarus ultimately ends with life walking out of the tomb. But even before the miracle, Jesus gives Martha something just as powerful: a question.

“Do you believe this?”

Resurrection hope begins with trust.

Download your FREE companion journal for I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus.
John 20:1–10 brings us to a moment that literally shifts the course of human history. It begins in the early hours of the morning, while it’s still dark. Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb, struggling with grief, confusion, and a heavy heart. Just days earlier, she had watched Jesus die. The one she trusted, the one she believed was the Messiah, had been crucified. And now, as she approaches the tomb, she notices something unexpected. I Wish You Could Hear This - Why We 'Hoard' Hard Emotions and How to Let Go, with Laurie Davies - Episode 38

Summary: In this episode, Shaunti Feldhahn sits down with author Laurie Davies to unpack the powerful concept behind the book Emotional Hoarding: Letting Go of the Stuff That Keeps You Stuck. Together, they explore how holding onto hard emotions costs us. Emotional 'hoarding’ limits how we love, it keeps us stuck in regret, grudges, and shame—and, most importantly, it creates a disconnect between us and the freedom God wants us to walk in.

Together, Shaunti and Laurie distinguish between emotional “baggage” and the deeper patterns of emotional hoarding, highlighting signs that you might be hoarding hard emotions, and why honest self-examination is essential to breaking free.

The conversation dives into emotions such as worry, worthlessness, regret, anger, and bitterness—focusing on how scripture offers a clear path to freedom. With worry, for example, Shaunti and Laurie discuss how renewing our thinking, grounded in principles from Philippians 4:8, can close the worry loop and restore peace.

As Shaunti observed in her foreword to the book: “You will never think about your inner emotional life the same way again.”

Tune in to this episode for a hope-filled path for stepping into greater emotional and relational freedom.

Links: lauriedavies.com Emotional Hoarding on Amazon

Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
