S2 Ep 17Disciplining Boys In The Park
EHello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education - this week featuring special guest Agony Dad!Ron is away gallivanting so Laura has roped Agony Dad into the intros and outros in place of Ron. Agony Dad knows more about amino acids and R groups than Laura despite not listening to the episode, or indeed any episodes. In the actual lesson Ron is still pretty obsessed with West Country carnivals. Laura does her best to keep him focused and back on track for the science. They discuss how boring lipids and fatty acids have been and there's a real moment where they consider abandoning the entire syllabus in favour of just not doing it.Then Ron sneezes for aaaaaaages. Ron gets very giddy from all the sneezing and then discuss Laura getting a new tattoo before attempting to return to the science.Fans of the syllabus may be interested to know that it's 3.1.4.1 Proteins. General properties of proteins. In case you're reading along at home.Dipeptide turns up and becomes a fantastic character. There are 20 amino acids common in all organisms. They are just about getting somewhere with a discussion on beta sheets and alpha something somethings and then Laura derails the whole discussion by getting political. S2 Ep 14Hate Crime Against Bank holidays
ESure! Here's a Lexx Education-style podcast description for an episode about triglycerides, capturing the show's signature mix of chaotic sibling banter, genuine science learning, and plenty of humor:Episode Title: Triglycerides: Three’s a Fatty CrowdDescription:In this week's greasy episode, Ron valiantly attempts to teach Leila about triglycerides, the little molecular monsters behind body fat, buttery snacks, and bad cholesterol readings. Leila spends the first ten minutes thinking triglycerides are a type of dinosaur, while Ron tries to explain how fatty acids and glycerol are like the Power Rangers of lipids—only stickier and less cool.Expect chaotic analogies, dubious dietary advice, and a heated debate about whether margarine is a government conspiracy. Also: why your body hoards fat like a dragon with gold, what happens when your triglyceride levels go rogue, and how the word "esterification" has ruined Ron’s week.Come for the science, stay for Leila trying to pronounce "hydrophobic" like it’s a Harry Potter spell.Let me know if you'd like a more technical or sillier version! These show notes were generated by Headliner AI. S2 Ep 7Siblings the Panel Show
EHello and welcome to Lexx Education - it's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her non-comedian brother Ron.Where to start this week...There’s a really REALLY long bit at the beginning where we just reminisce about early video games. Ski Free, Rodents Revenge, Digging Jim and all sorts of fun get discussed and there’s a lot of sighing. Then they argue about carbohydrates and whether Laura is eating healthily or not. You know the score. Then they have some reflections on Laura’s career and her upcoming appearance on the News Quiz. When they FINALLY get on to the science it’s reducing and non-reducing sugars. It’s not an easy grasp and it’s quite frankly, a little dry, but Laura does her best to make sure Ron knows this. We’re talking monosaccharides and disaccharides and polysaccharides… all the really juicy stuff. By the time they really get into it you’ll wish they were still randomly googling old video games.Benedict’s Reagent comes up big style - a lovely nice blast from the exam based past.By the time the quiz comes around you’d think we’d have learned our lesson and be completely focused on point on the one thing we’d studied. EHello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy younger brother Ron.This week they're attempting some chemistry but honestly not a lot gets done... they're STILL in Leicester (the longest weekend in history?) and they're hungry.Falafel Land is the Lebanese place Laura and Ron ate at. This is just information in case you should ever want to go.In terms of the actual science... well, we recap Mass Spectrometers and Ion Drift and then start learning about Time of Flight Spectrometeter. But mostly it's not science and it's just Ron talking about how much he loves Ethan Hunt and Mission Impossible.Ron is hungry.Oh let’s face it - we do basically nothing in this episode. S2 Ep 3Buckle Up Bucko This Is A Level
EHello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education! The comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her normal younger brother Ron!It's the first winds of physics of the season and they begin by being two buff siblings, as ever, discussing squats and dead lifts. Then before physics can lift it’s vile head they are off on a LOTR conspiracy theory. When the science starts, it starts with a mistake. No wait: errors. They have a little bit of ground to revisit first… namely standard form. It goes wayyyyyy exactly as you’d imagine. First, Laura gets her mind blown by the idea that just because a number is minus does not mean it’s a smaller number. Honestly, for this portion, it’s like listening to one half of two different phone calls. Then there’s a classic physics breakdown which almost ends the lesson at barely fifteen minutes in. Some yelling. Some tone. Some classic physics bants. There’s a whole big mathsy bit in the middle. Prepare to hear ole Ronny Honks saying ten to the quite a LOT.Then to round things off we start looking at measurements… kilos and nanos and whatnots. The quiz is incredibly giddy - the science siblings are very Dosa giddy in a hotel room in Leicester before their live show and so the sound changes massively as does the mood.---These show notes were generated by Headliner AI. Today is a momentous occasion as we reach the final episode in the GCSE syllabus. Yes, it's the last biology lesson and the last GCSE episode ever!Laura and Ron dive into the complexities of the carbon and water cycles, discussing how carbon and water move through different parts of the ecosystem. Laura's artistic attempts at drawing the cycles provide some comic relief, while Ron tries to keep the lesson on track. Laura and Ron get sidetracked by discussions about protests, parenting challenges, and even a bit of culinary disaster involving an overly fennel-flavoured curry. S1 Ep 112Ron Ron Ron Ron Ron Ron
EHello and welcome to... ah I mean honestly... what's the point? Ron has given up. Ron is so close to the end that his ever intermittent commitment has gone in a puff of smoke. So we just fuck about for an hour. Enjoy. This week, Laura and Ron are back with their usual banter, but things take a bit of a detour. Laura's in Manchester, dealing with a headache and a frustrating shopping trip, while Ron's got his own issues with blisters from a misguided flip-flop walk to get vaccinated. They chat about everything from clothing dilemmas to Ron's recent gift of a £30 voucher and the woes of public speaking. They also dive into a discussion about favourite soft drinks, with Laura and Ron debating the merits of Oasis and Rio. There's an amusing tangent about Laura's child's antics with toilet water and the challenges of potty training. The conversation meanders through various topics, including gymnastics, the Bristol Harbour Festival, and the intricacies of Olympic sports.Eventually, they attempt to tackle some physics revision, but it quickly devolves into a quiz that leaves Laura questioning her knowledge. They wrap up with a Sonic character quiz, revealing Laura as Knuckles, much to her confusion. It's a chaotic but entertaining episode filled with laughter, random trivia, and the usual sibling dynamic that keeps listeners coming back for more.

S1 Ep 111Some Classic Lexx Ed Bollockery
EHello and welcome to another smashing episode of Lexx Education! This week Ron is still on holiday so Husband of the Podcast Tom joins Laura for intros and outros but the episode itself is Laura and Ron having a gloomy old time going over early chemistry. It’s a very low energy start where Laura is still mad at Ron for not telling her about moving house. Gnocchi the cat is there and Ron isn’t interested in any of the fun things coming up which really stifles Laura’s enthusiasm.Recapping early chemistry… plum pudding and all that jazz. The gold foil test - Rutherford! Laura actually has remembered vast swathes of this stuff which let’s face it we’re all impressed with.We move onto radiation which Laura claims to love but honestly doesn’t remember a second of because, wait for it, we’re not studying it in the same subject that we first covered it in. That brain. That swampy swampy brain.Relative charge Laura has down… it’s like listening to a different podcast for a moment. Then we move on to relative mass and… holy crap she’s got it again.Somehow we get on to religion for a while… it’s not even an RE episode. So much crossover these days. Back to the science and we’re looking at all the groups on the periodic table and then types of bonds.
