Records Galore: Woody Kincaid 12:51, Yared Nuguse 7:28, Katelyn Tuohy NCAA record in mile

What a weekend. Yared Nuguse started it off by running 7:28.24, an American record for 3000m and then a few hours later Woody Kincaid shocked the nation and Joe Klecker by running 12:51.61, an American record at 5000m. The next day Katelyn Tuohy broke the NCAA record in the mile. Plus a sneaky good performance by Hobbs Kessler, a win and interesting comments from Drew Hunter, a world best by Keely Hodgkinson, Mo Farah news, a nice win by Ajee' Wilson, and another great meet this weekend in Boston. Bonus: Dan Michalski - Living the Dream - From Working at Walmart, Wearing the LetsRun Singlet, to the Olympics?

We've got a bonus pod for everyone, as part of our Where Your Dreams Become Reality series. Daniel Michalski was a baseball player and band member for most of his high school career. Then he tried track and cross country and he has taken the more circuitous route to the top ranks of the sport. He won a a DII NCAA title for Cedarville. He nearly won a DI for Indiana but fell over the final barrier. Unsponsored, during COVID at one point he was working at Walmart to help support his wife Abby. When she got pregnant, he wanted to find a job with insurance, and that led him to coaching in Texas, training solo, a new coach of his own and a return to the top of the sport. He was the most gracious 4th placer we've ever seen at the 2020 Olympic Trials, and now has his eyes set on the 2024 Paris Olympics. Before that he's running the Houston Half Marathon this weekend in the LetsRun.com singlet. A LetsRun.com Supporters Club member, he asked Rojo if he could race in the singlet. We're honored! The AIRWAAV performance mouthpiece fits along your bottom teeth and directs your tongue down and forward creating the “optimal airway opening” resulting in: Increased airway opening by up to 25% resulting in an immediate 28.5% respiratory rate reduction during a steady-state run Increased endurance — by reducing respiratory rate by 20%, resulting in less lactic acid production Faster recovery times — by reducing cortisol build-up by up to 50% LetsRun listeners can save 10% with the code "LR10" Dig into the science and put AIRWAAV to the test. What a week. The 2022 NCAA championships are in the books and the Joseph Fahnbulleh freight train arrived, Katelyn Tuohy got NCAA title #1, Abby Steiner got some Allyson Felix comparisons - we break it all down. At 110:33 we are joined by the fastest high school 800m runner in the nation (and one of the most confident), Cade Flatt (@FlattCade & IG: @cadeflatt) from tiny Benton Kentucky (population 4,756) before he tries to break Michael Granville's 26-year-old national 800m record of 1:46.45 at this weekend's New Balance Outdoor Nationals at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Cade talks about the record, his unorthodox training (how does a 5 mile week sound?), his confidence, and his desire to race the senior USATF Outdoor nationals this year. Devon Allen shocked the world at the NYC Grand Prix as the US stars were out in full force, Noah Lyles, Sydney McLaughlin, Christian Coleman and Sha'Carri Richardson in her fish net attire. Now they have the ENDURANCE model that provides a more snug fit, keeping the mouthpiece in place for endurance athletes who relax their jaw during long-distance workouts or races. Gary Martin Sub 4 Like Jim Ryun, Katelyn Tuohy 4:06, Go Pro Early?

Pennsylvania high schooler Gary Martin did something that had only been done once before, by Jim Ryun in 1965, go sub 4 in the mile in a high school race without a rabbit. Former prep phenom Katelyn Tuohy blasted a 4:06 1500m, Maria Garcia Romo blasted NCAA record holder Eliud Kipsang at SECs in the 1500, Yared Nuguse's NCAA career is over, there were some amazing sprint performances at the conference meets, and DII star Christian Noble turned some heads by not only turning pro before NCAAs, but also signing as a male with New Balance. We break it all down and discuss whether Newbury Park XC was the best high school team ever in any sport and whether Matthew Centrowitz, Donavan Brazier, or Jenny Simpson are in trouble. Want to Train Smarter this Summer? The LetsRun.com Summer Training Program is back.
