Ep 79Ian Somerhalder on Producing Kiss The Ground, Climate Change, and The Launch of Brothers Bond

Although you may know Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries or Boone from Lost, he’s actually embarking on his most passionate endeavors to date as an environmentalist and humanitarian. He executive produced the environmental documentary KISS THE GROUND, which landed on Netflix in September 2020, and focuses on raising awareness and education on the positive impacts of regenerative farming for climate change. And just this weekend, he launched Brothers Bond, a bourbon company, with Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley as an ode to their bourbon drinking days on the show. The company did a pre-sale which shattered records and a portion of the proceeds will go toward regenerative farming practices and combating climate change. In this episode, Ian tells us all about his new chapter, why he needs everyone to watch Kiss The Ground, and how he started a business with purpose and passion. Ep 73Jordan Firstman Reflects on His Breakout Year, Writing for Big Mouth, and Navigating Viral Fame

If you’ve been on social media in the past year, chances are you’ve been sent a Jordan Firstman skit. From banana bread’s publicist, to the guy who thinks life isn’t that much different in quarantine, to the management team behind the fly that infamously tormented Mike Pence, Jordan’s skits made our cringiest clichés into something we could all laugh at together (and single-handedly got us through quarantine). But behind the Instagram fame, Jordan’s a triple threat. He’s an actor, writer, and producer who’s worked on shows like Search Party and Big Mouth. He’s also written and starred in his own short called Call Your Father. When it comes to Hollywood, Jordan’s just getting started. In this episode, Jordan talks to us about the road to becoming a multi-hyphenate in entertainment, the cost that comes with viral fame, and how he’s ready for a second act that takes him off our phone screens and onto the silver screen. Ep 62Your Dry January Cheat Sheet with The Dry Challenge Author Hilary Sheinbaum

Hilary Sheinbaum is a writer who’s contributed to publications like The New York Times, Marie Claire, New York Magazine, Forbes, and more. This week, she released her first book, The Dry Challenge: How to Loose The Booze for Dry January, Sober October, and Any Other Alcohol-Free Month, an exploration of the incredible life-changing benefits of abstaining from alcohol for one month. In 2017, Hilary and a friend waged a bet: whoever could complete Dry January would win a free dinner to any restaurant of their choice in New York City. Hilary won, and not only did she feel completely different, but she was instantly inspired to spread the word about her experience. The book, which acts more like a guidebook, provides a comprehensive plan to help you tackle Dry January, Sober October, and other booze-free challenges. Whether you’re thinking of participating in Dry January, Sober October, or want to choose a time of your own, this book walks you step-by-step through one drink-free month, from making a plan to sharing the news with friends and family (and what to do when someone tries to sabotage it) to getting back on track if you slip up and have a drink (or two). In this episode, Hilary tells us about the physical, emotional, and financial impacts of taking a month off of alcohol, what we can expect from her first book, and how this year’s Dry January will be different than any before. Ep 51Sarah Ramos and Caroline Goldfarb: The Renner Files

What do actress Sarah Ramos (Parenthood, The Affair) and writer/comedian Caroline Goldfarb (The Late Late Show with James Corden, Alone Together) have in common? They’re hysterical, devoted pop culture enthusiasts, best friends, and recently launched a podcast series called THE RENNER FILES. THE RENNER FILES, created, hosted and produced by the duo, is a new kind of true crime podcast - one that’s not a true crime at all. Instead, it’s about Jeremy Renner’s app. Why did Oscar nominated actor Jeremy Renner ever have an app? Why did he do it? Who made it? Who used it? And why did it shake the internet to its core? They set out to investigate the mystery of the app, but got so much more in return. THE RENNER FILES lays out a thrilling timeline of the app’s rise and fall through talking head interviews with key players, journalists, and unexpected Renner experts (like actor Seth Rogen). But it also tells a larger story: one about the dangerous side of celebrity fandom, the ethics of audience exploitation, the celebrity influencer complex, and the destructive power of ironic internet comedy. In this episode, we talked about their fan-filled childhoods, from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen cruises to NSYNC concerts, to navigating the entertainment industry, and a behind the scenes look at what went into creating one of the mosts provocative podcasts out there right now.
