In this episode I talk about 5 perspective shifts that have made a big difference to my life, how they relate to your mindset, and the impacts they may have on your day to day.I see a lot of these coming up in my programmes and client calls, so I thought it would be really helpful to dive in a bit deeper so that you can make some perspective shifts in your life too.  These are the perspectives I dive into: Readjusting the words “right” or “wrong”  The times when No will always be the answer ;) How confidence links in with self-doubt Shifting the “good” or “bad” mentality The power of thinking temporary As with everything I talk about, shifting perspectives takes awareness and practice. EP 13. Burnout: Alarming Burnout Statistics & Impact of Psychological Safety with Professor Jarrod Haar

This is an eye opening episode with Professor Jarrod Haar on the statistics around burnout and psychological safety in the workplace, and how things have adapted post COVID. Jarrod was one of my business research lecturers at the University of Waikato, and it was an honour to have him on the podcast sharing his research on this very important subject.   Jarrod has won industry and best-paper awards, as well as multiple research grants ($6.7m individually), and is a named researcher on a $102m National Science Challenge. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand Te Apārangi and is the newly appointed Co-Chair Māori Business and Economics PRBF panel, has over 465 refereed outputs (including 145 journal articles), and has given over 90 keynotes/invited presentations.    Jarrod also is a frequent media commentator including over 50 TV appearances, and is ranked in the Elsevier World Top 2% of Scientists worldwide by citations and 2nd in New Zealand (Business & Management subfield).  In this episode you will learn about: What burnout actually means How to properly assess if you are burnt out in 4 defined steps How COVID has impacted burnout data What psychological safety is and why it’s so important Ways leaders and managers can build more inspiring workplaces How you can support your own wellbeing at work The positive and negative impacts of hybrid working and WFH Burnout is a huge challenge in the world we’re working in right now. However, more often than not, it’s not being used in the right context in terms of how burnout is actually defined.   This episode will clearly define burnout and help you determine if you’re lightly toasted, smouldering, or burnt to a crisp (as Jarrod’s analogy talks to in the episode).  I’d love to know what you thought after hearing about Professor Jarrod Haar’s research and if the information was helpful for you.
