In this episode, Travis sits down with Jonathan S. who joined the trucking industry through Roehl's on-the-job CDL training program. Before trucking, Johnathan worked in construction doing concrete work. He started as flatbed driver, then hauled some dry van loads before recently moving into Roehl's Curtainside Fleet.

Jason & Travis sit down with Radar, a Roehl Transport Certified Driver Trainer & Josh, truck driver who recently completed Roehl's on-the-job CDL training program, to talk about their journeys in the trucking industry. Radar joined Roehl after a long career with a private fleet trucking company, and he was recently honored with a Outstanding Trainer Award at Roehl's annual awards banquet. As a new teammate, Josh was hired on his first day of the CDL training, and getting his CDL was part of his job.

Roehl's VP of Driver Employment Tim Norlin speaks with Jason & Travis about Roehl's participation in the Safe Driver Apprenticeship Program (SDAP) pilot program. Currently, CDL-A truck drivers who are younger than 21 cannot transport loads that traverse states; instead, they are only able to haul loads that start and end in the same state. The FMCSA Safe Driver Pilot was created to allow drivers between the ages of 18 and 20 to hold a CDL and perform interstate driving, giving them more and earlier opportunities to grow their trucking career. Roehl has been training new CDL A truck drivers for more than 30 years & Roehl’s Get Your CDL Program provides on-the-job CDL training - approved candidates are hired on the first day and training to pass their CDL test is part of their job.

In this episode, Jonathan H. joins Jason & Travis to talk about his journey to Roehl. Jonathan started in trucking by going through Roehl's Get Your CDL on-the-job training. Christopher shares that his father gave him advice before he became a driver, and his step-father also gave him guidance about managing his relationships. Jason & Travis sit down with Mark S. in this episode. Mark talks about his journey to Roehl. He shares that he joined Roehl as an experienced driver over 13 years ago. Mark operates in Roehl's National Van Fleet, and he talks about how being a professional truck driver has helped him accomplish a lot in his personal life. What's a Market Owner? In this episode, Jason and Travis catch up with Ryan K. a Roehl Transport Market Owner. Ryan shares his long history with Roehl, including how he started as a driver with Roehl in 1994, became a fleet manager (working with new drivers), then he became a planner for a long time before transitioning to a Market Owner. As a Market Owner, Ryan works with customer service, planners, fleet managers and even sales to support our customers and driving teammates in the Northeast. Ryan talks about how he still hauls loads, when the opportunity presents itself.

Jason and Travis welcome Corry J. to the podcast this week. Corry had a long career in the retail industry before joining TeamRoehl as a Fleet Manager in our Chicago Area Terminal. Corry advanced in his career by becoming a Fleet Operations Manager and then progressing to a Regional Operations Manager at Roehl's Phoenix Terminal - where Roehl has a large number of flatbed driving jobs.

In this episode, meet Kurt D., a B2B/EDI Integration Analyst and hear how he came to be a member of TeamRoehl. Kurt shares some of what he does to support our company, and he talks about Roehl's Charitable Governance Committee and some of the programs we support, including the United Way (Roehl has repeatedly been recognized and awarded for our donations to the United Way). In this episode, Eric S. joins Jason and Travis to talk about his transition from college to the military to Roehl. Eric worked as a fleet manager and he helped schedule over-the-road training for recent CDL school graduates and Roehl's Get Your CDL program graduates. In this episode, you'll hear Gentry's B. story. Gentry joined TeamRoehl in 2021 through Roehl's on-the-job CDL A training program. After getting his CDL, Gentry talks about his Phase 2 experience with a Certified Driver Trainer, and then what he did after getting his own truck. Gentry first drove in our Van Midwest Regional fleet before transitioning into a dedicated fleet. Gentry then applied for a role helping new drivers during their Phase 2 experience as a Fleet Training Manager. Gentry shares how he ate well while on the road, and what he likes to do when he is not working.

Roehl's President of the Van Group Don I. joins Jason & Travis to share insights into the freight market, the conversations he has with customers and how important Roehl drivers are. In Don's role, he leads Roehl's Dry Van, Refrigerated & Dedicated Divisions. Don explains that he previously worked at two of the largest public trucking companies, and he offers some insights into how Roehl is different and he highlights Roehl's Wall of Values. Don also talks about how Roehl's maintenance department measures time in the shop in minutes while most trucking companies measure that time in days.

Brian M. has decades of experience in trucking, and he joins Jason & Travis for a discussion about how he came to Roehl in a non-driving role. Jon shares his journey - from he was a tow truck driver to upgrading Class B CDL to a Class A through Roehl's on-the-job training program. In this episode, Jarred G. joins Jason & Travis to talk about how he got into trucking. Jarred shares that he was a postal carrier and worked at a sign company before he decided to search for the best companies to get his CDL through. Eric recently celebrated 15 years with Roehl, and he has held positions in operations and recruiting during his time with Roehl.
