In this episode Tim Norlin, Roehl's VP of Driver Employment & Travis welcome Amanda W. to TeamRoehl. Amanda joins our Driver Employment Center (DEC) as the Director of Driver Employment. She shares how she came to Roehl, including her history in the trucking industry and some insights into what she likes to do when she's not working.

In this episode, Bob B. & Alan M. join Travis to talk about their long, long history with Roehl. Bob has been a fleet manager and he recently retired after more than 40 years with Roehl Transport. Al is a driver who joined Roehl in 1984. Now, more than 4 million safe miles later, Al talks about how he came to Roehl and why he's stayed with the company so long.

Roehl Transport's VP of Technology John Paape joins Travis with an update on the Rev 8 ELD. John talks about the plan to equip the rest of our driving teammates with the new Truck PCs, and he shares how this investment in hardware and software create benefits for our drivers. In this episode, Ron T. talks to Travis about his 25 years as a driver with Roehl Transport. They are also joined by Ryan S., a Roehl fleet manager. Ron recently retired, and he offered insight into why he stayed with Roehl. Ron noted that the company lives our values, and he reflects on the Roehl Way - the trucking industry's most advanced safe driving program.

In this episode you'll hear from Max, a driver in Roehl Transport's Dairyland Regional Refrigerated Fleet, and from Kyle, a fleet manager for the fleet. Max shares why he chose the Dairyland Fleet, what his time driving is like (the places he goes and people he sees) and how he spends his weekly home time. Royal completed Roehl's on-the-job CDL training program and is now a professional truck driver in Roehl's Dedicated Advantage Fleet. In this special bonus episode, Douglas Couch joins Travis & Tim Norlin to talk about his military service, getting his CDL training with Roehl and the Transition Trucking: Driving to Excellence award. Douglas is a finalist in the national competition that recognizes the successful transition to the trucking industry following military service. Douglas has a Van Midwest Regional truck driving job, and he's also a Driver Trainer, helping new Roehl teammates be successful drivers themselves.

Jason & Travis sit down with Radar, a Roehl Transport Certified Driver Trainer & Josh, truck driver who recently completed Roehl's on-the-job CDL training program, to talk about their journeys in the trucking industry. Radar joined Roehl after a long career with a private fleet trucking company, and he was recently honored with a Outstanding Trainer Award at Roehl's annual awards banquet. As a new teammate, Josh was hired on his first day of the CDL training, and getting his CDL was part of his job.

Roehl's VP of Driver Employment Tim Norlin speaks with Jason & Travis about Roehl's participation in the Safe Driver Apprenticeship Program (SDAP) pilot program. Currently, CDL-A truck drivers who are younger than 21 cannot transport loads that traverse states; instead, they are only able to haul loads that start and end in the same state. The FMCSA Safe Driver Pilot was created to allow drivers between the ages of 18 and 20 to hold a CDL and perform interstate driving, giving them more and earlier opportunities to grow their trucking career. Roehl has been training new CDL A truck drivers for more than 30 years & Roehl’s Get Your CDL Program provides on-the-job CDL training - approved candidates are hired on the first day and training to pass their CDL test is part of their job.

In this episode, Jonathan H. joins Jason & Travis to talk about his journey to Roehl. Jonathan started in trucking by going through Roehl's Get Your CDL on-the-job training. He then drove for Roehl until leaving for personal reasons, though he knew he wanted to return to Roehl. When the opportunity arose, Jonathan did come back to become an instructor in the program that helped get his start in trucking. Jonathan shares that he stays connected to the drivers he met through the program and sees that same camaraderie with the drivers he trains.

Sam shares her journey in trucking, starting as an assistant in our Dry Van Division, to becoming a Market Owner to Director of Flatbed CS. Sam also goes into detail about how we work with customers and drivers to improve our service and meet our customers' needs.

In this bonus episode, Travis talks with Christopher R. about why he got into trucking. Christopher worked in construction, including travelling for his job, and he wanted to do something different. Christopher shares that his father gave him advice before he became a driver, and his step-father also gave him guidance about managing his relationships. Christopher got his CDL through Roehl, and he operates in Roehl's National Flatbed Fleet.

Jason & Travis sit down with Mark S. in this episode. Mark talks about his journey to Roehl. He shares that he joined Roehl as an experienced driver over 13 years ago. Mark operates in Roehl's National Van Fleet, and he talks about how being a professional truck driver has helped him accomplish a lot in his personal life. Mark shares that he manages a private Facebook group for Roehl drivers and their spouses, and Jason notes that it was that group that helped him meet Mark the first time.

What's a Market Owner? In this episode, Jason and Travis catch up with Ryan K. a Roehl Transport Market Owner. Ryan shares his long history with Roehl, including how he started as a driver with Roehl in 1994, became a fleet manager (working with new drivers), then he became a planner for a long time before transitioning to a Market Owner. As a Market Owner, Ryan works with customer service, planners, fleet managers and even sales to support our customers and driving teammates in the Northeast. Ryan talks about how he still hauls loads, when the opportunity presents itself.

Jason and Travis welcome Corry J. to the podcast this week. Corry had a long career in the retail industry before joining TeamRoehl as a Fleet Manager in our Chicago Area Terminal. Corry advanced in his career by becoming a Fleet Operations Manager and then progressing to a Regional Operations Manager at Roehl's Phoenix Terminal - where Roehl has a large number of flatbed driving jobs.
