God could have started with the tenth plague, because the consequence of sin is death. But in His mercy, He gives the Egyptians multiple opportunities to turn from their sin and turn to Him. Happy Thanksgiving! Emma Dotter is joined by fellow Watermark staff member, Jacob Alger to provide helpful context on Psalm 149 as we tackle the question, "Is it our job to execute judgement on the nations?" Additional Scripture referenced in today's episode: Matthew 26:52, "Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword." Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." 2 Corinthians 10:3-4, "For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds." Ephesians 6:12, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."
