Jeffrey Hu, Head of Research at Bianjie, the company behind the IRIS Network, discusses coin swaps, NFTs, and BSN, China’s upcoming blockchain-based smart network. IRISnet was the earliest Cosmos SDK blockchain that enabled swapping tokens in a module called "coin swap". They were also early on in building out NFT tokens in the Cosmos ecosystem. We also get into how Bianjie, a Chinese AI and cryptocurrency company, is being commissioned to help support the development of China’s new blockchain initiative, the open permissioned blockchain (OPB), which could set the tone for how the 1.4 billion people living in China will interact with blockchain technology in the future.

On this episode, Chjango interviews JP, a researcher who’s been contributing to THORChain as early as its inception in 2018. Since then, THORChain has garnered a cult-like following with zealots who truly believe in the innovations brought forth from this project. THORChain is the earliest Cosmos-based DEX that aims to solve the problem of Bitcoin custody on centralized custodians. JP dives into the problem of storing your coins on exchanges and centralized interest-bearing platforms like Blockfi and why THORChain is a crucial piece of decentralized infrastructure that aims to provide the same or juicier interest rates. The only difference is, you're staking them on a capture-resistant blockchain.

Crypto.com is a centralized exchange (CEX) that offers crypto-backed debit cards to allow you to spend your crypto without ever cashing out. What’s more, as you’ll learn in this episode, you will soon be allowed to borrow money by collateralizing your crypto asset in order to spend from your debit card—all without incurring any capital gains tax—a killer application to bridge DeFi to the real world. Chjango interviews Eric Anziani, COO of crypto.com, and Leslie Cheung, Head of Developer Relations, to unwind everything they’ve been building since 2018. Crypto.com was one of the earliest adopters of Cosmos SDK. They were the alpha testers of the framework and even debugged a critical DoS vector in Tendermint. Fast forward to March 2021, they launched their EVM-chain, the crypto.org chain.
