Firewall follows an order to process rules, so the chain must be short in order to free up CPU time. With the help of the jump action, you can design your own customized chain of firewall rules that will let you send certain traffic through extra processing without subjecting all other traffic to the same treatment. This will cut down on CPU usage and boost router throughput.
