Maddy Deerman set the breakaway roping world on fire in 2023, winning some of the most coveted titles that the sport has to offer! Maddy is your 2023 NFR Playoffs Open Champion Breakaway Roper, the Puyallup, Washington PRCA Playoffs Breakaway Roping Champion…oh and not to mention she was a 1.8 and won over $10,000 at the Governor's Cup in Sioux Falls, SD! Maddy was not too far off of her chances to qualify at her first NFBR, but was short of the rodeo count, 25, and the amount of money it took to qualify. “I looked at it, but honestly I couldn't do that to my team, so I made the decision not to pursue it this year,” says Maddy, who is talking about her graduate year at Texas Tech University as a grad student who is studying Petroleum Geology and student teaching as well. Through some tough decisions, trials, and tribulations, this year Maddy truly found her faith in God, and some much needed answers that she was looking for on the next direction of her journey! Seth Broesche Memorial | Seth Leon Broesche | A Cowboy AngelFebruary 3, 2024 will be a day of celebration in the Broesche Family, celebrating the life of Seth Leon Broesche, surrounded by family, friends, and a lot of breakaway and tie down ropers in Bryan, Texas.Seth Leon Blaine Broesche was the son of Lance and Sunny Broesche and brother to Sutton Leigh Eddings. Seth was a true “Top Hand” Cowboy. He loved God, his family, and anything to do with ranching, roping, and hog hunting. The Memorial honors every event he loved. He had a smile that would light up a room and a heart of gold. Seth’s young life on Earth ended on March 5, 2016 in a tragic auto accident. Seth’s family have set up the Memorial Fund to honor and carry on the legacy left behind by this “Good Cowboy Angel.”This is a non-for profit organization, dedicated to Seth Leon Broesche and continuing his legacy of loving life and helping others. This is fully supported and run by people who dedicate themselves with volunteer time, efforts, and full hearts committed to serving people, just as Seth served others. This non-profit organization has raised over $100,000 donated to furthering students education programs, and helping those in need. Chris Neal is not only one of the best roping producers in the world, he is also very passionate about the sport of breakaway roping. Anthony Lucia has an undeniable passion for the sport of Rodeo, for the Cowboys and the Cowgirls that compete day in and out, and most of all the fans of rodeo! Growing up as the son of the famous Tommy Lucia and Whiplash the monkey, Anthony started off in the rodeo arena as a trick roper. Lucia was able to travel around the world and perform in front of fans on some of the biggest stages of rodeo, and give the fans a fast and furious 8 minutes of trick roping. From trick roping to team roping, Lucia made his Pro Rodeo Debview, competing around the world as a professional cowboy at the PRCA Rodeos in the Team Roping, Trick Roping, and started announcing at some smaller events. The famous Kueckelhan Ranch Rodeo in Bonham, Texas was one of the first events that Lucia had the privilege of announcing. Haynez Kueckelhan gave me a shot, when he didn't have to, and I appreciate that, says Lucia, and well the rest is history… “At a young age my dad told me, ‘ you should be an announcer, you love to talk and you know about rodeo,’ and I was totally against it.” But it turns out that Tommy was onto something! Now Anthony Lucia is fully dedicated to being the best announcer that he can be, and he has a lot of life lessons, experiences, and words of wisdom to share with us on in the LOOP.Lucia is passionate about rodeo, and the future of the sport. His goal is to not only entertain, but to share with the crowd the backstory of each and every contestant that rides into that arena. Mandi Holland, a breakaway roper and a committee member of the “Home of the Champions Rodeo, in Red Lodge, Montana, sheds some light on the production and what it takes to make it happen! Mandi being a committee member shares with us how to get and ask for breakaway in our rodeos and how to problem solve. Mandi shares her experience as a business leader, and a member of the committee, as well as sharing her skillset on finding solutions to problems! “I love to take all of the ‘No’s’ and find the ‘Yes’ to those problems,” says Mandi, and she did just that to get the breakaway roping added into the Red Lodge Pro Rodeo. Mandi shares a lot of great facts about breakaway roping, and how it benefits the rodeo community as well as the communities of the events that have breakaway roping. Mandi is a full time racetrack veterinarian in Phoenix, AZ at Turf Paradise Racetrack in the winters and Ellis Farstvedt (Husband and Equine Surgeon) and she owns Performance Equine Specialists and Beartooth Animal Hospital in Red Lodge, MT. Mandi says, “We are the official veterinarians of the World Series Team Roping Finale in Las Vegas, NV and can be found at Rancho Rio in Wickenburg, AZ in the winters. Our family splits their time between Red Lodge and Phoenix.
