Ep 84A day in the life - from the road

Ep 83How other people control you

Quote of the day:“When you believe without knowing you believe that you are damaged at your core, you also believe that you need to hide that damage for anyone to love you. You walk around ashamed of being yourself. You try hard to make up for the way you look, walk, feel. Decisions are agonizing because if you, the person who makes the decision, is damaged, then how can you trust what you decide? You doubt your own impulses so you become masterful at looking outside yourself for comfort. You become an expert at finding experts and programs, at striving and trying hard and then harder to change yourself, but this process only reaffirms what you already believe about yourself -- that your needs and choices cannot be trusted, and left to your own devices you are out of control (p.82-83)”― Geneen Roth, Women, Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost EverythingMy answer to last week's question of the week:I’m a “C/D” personality type, I overanalyze, then get tired of things taking too long, and charge ahead, sometimes leaving a wake of destruction….or half done things….behind me.Stories from real life/what I’m doing to create more liberty in my life:Prepping for Teen Catalyst eventHomestead updates:PigletsWild bunniesSetting hens with different personalitiesNews/personal development article highlight/book review:I’ve deviated from my reading list that I set for myself at the start of the year. I haven’t given up on it, but I’ve inserted a couple other books that struck me. One is called ‘The Purpose Driven Youth Ministry, the other one is the ‘The Case for IBC’.IBC is the infinite banking concept, the idea of becoming your own banker.I don’t fully understand it, but I’m highly interested and excited about the potential I see in it to build generational wealth, and I’m trying to get someone on the podcast to talk about it.Social media spotlight/podcast episode recommendation:Check out the Fireside Freedom Podcast, a collaboration effort with fellow podcasters,a discussion on how to create MORE freedom in your life. Also, go listen to A Farmish Kind of Life, episode 205. I had the pleasure of chatting with Amy Dingman all about personalities. It was a fantastic chat.Main topic:Don’t allow other people to control you.Set out to do a thing, and we over analyze it.We allow other people’s fears to control usWe have a first instinct for the thing but end up listening to the voices inside our head or from other people telling us we can’t do the thing, we don’t have what it takesThen before we even have a chance to get started and suck at whatever it was, before we have a chance to learn the lesson that getting started would teach us, we get derailed and quit.If you go back to when you were a child, most likely you LOVED new experiences. You LOVED the zoo, and all the crazy looking animals. You LOVED going to the beach and picking up all the strange looking creatures and seeing how far out you could swim. You climbed as high as you could up the tree. You met and played with new people. You LOVED trying new food….wait….what? No you didn’t. No kid likes trying new food. You explored new places and tried new things every chance you got.The fears you experienced came from the people around you. If your mom or dad was the fearful type, you too became fearful. If they were afraid of you being kidnapped, you too became afraid of every new person you saw.Another

Ep 81How Personality Affects Goal Setting

A VISION will help you set a GOAL. A GOAL without a date is just a DREAM.A DREAM without a vision is a NIGHTMARE.Teen Catalyst father/son camping workshop takes place in June. Get your tickets while they're still discounted. Main topic: How personality affects goal settingIf you do not have a desired outcome for your life, you will become a wanderer, like a balloon when it is filled with air and then let go, you will fly aimless in every direction without purpose just using up energy and time. A Dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind. Everyone has a Dream, but most dreams are buried deep down inside every person until they are brought to the “surface” they might as well be Dead Dreams. A Vision on the other hand, is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom (or alternative - a mental image of what the future will or could be like).Goal setting by personality type:As a "D" type, you want to know the WHAT. You seek the big idea or picture. You are direct and to the point. Your goals center around accomplishments, money, and results. You want it done the fastest way. Yesterday, if possible. As an "I" type, you want to know WHO - else is setting goals. You seek exciting and fun goals. Your goals are centered around YOU being a star, being admired, and getting recognition. You want it done the fun way. As an "S" type, you want to know HOW - to easily set goals. Your goals center around security, relationships, and teamwork. You like setting group goals, and prefer getting things done the traditional way.As a "C" type, you want to know WHY - so you can correctly set your goals. You like credibility, so you do your homework. Your goals center around correctness, value, and being right. You want things done the proper way, according to the plan, and you set goals accordingly.

Ep 66Developing Persistence

QOTD: “Happiness has to do with your mindset, not with outside circumstance.”― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being FreeMain topic: How to Become PersistentWe're always told how we can achieve anything if we put our minds to it – how if we keep putting in the time and effort, we will eventually start to see our efforts pay off. It seems that the key ingredient to success in all its forms is persistence. But when people give us this advice, they will often act as though persistence were something you could just 'switch on'. If you've not lost that weight, started that side business, gotten that guy or gal… well then you just need to be persistent. The question no one ever answers is how you go from not having persistence to being able to turn it on at will. Ep 65Journey to Financial Peace

You must gain control over your money, or the lack of it will forever control you. ~ Dave RamseyI've made a few mistakes along the way. I've gotten out of debt, then slid back into it death grip. But now I've made the decision that enough is enough. I'm DONE WITH DEBT!!I am going to do whatever it takes to get out of debt once and for all, and build wealth the right way, and I want you to join me.If you're up for it, click the link below, fill out the form, and I will be in contact with you.https://forms.gle/crn4Jkwbg9Bo1g46A7 Financial Planning Tenets to Abide ByAt its core, financial planning is a game, and just like any game, there are rules you need to follow if you wish to win. That said, there will be odds against you and unforeseen obstacles may rear their ugly heads. But no matter how the game goes, your best chances of winning will be to abide by the time-tested rules that govern the game… the tenets of financial planning which will keep you on track regardless of market fluctuations, pandemics, inflation, etc. 1 You must have a budgetThere’s a quote in Charles Dickens’ book, David Copperfield, “Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery.”This is old wisdom that still holds true to this day. If your expenses exceed your income, you’ll constantly be in debt. Getting your finances in order can be a Herculean task and you can quickly find yourself behind the 8-ball.Create a budget and decide how much you’ll allocate to needs, wants, savings, paying off debt and so on. Stick to this budget and try your best not to deviate from it. 2 Save 10% of your net incomeHere’s an important point to note – the percentage is not as important as the habit. Some people may be so deep in debt that even saving 10% is difficult. If that’s the case, aim for 5% or at the very least, try to save anywhere from $10-$25 a month. When you have even a small amount of money set aside, you’ll shift your mindset just enough to go from a mentality of lack to one with a teeny bit of abundance. It’s not much but it’ll make a WORLD of difference. If you’ve saved $25 a month for 4 months, you’d have a $100 in savings. This will be a refreshing change from before when you were so broke you barely had anything left before the next paycheck came in.As you get better at saving, trim your expenses wherever you can and split the extra between your debt repayment and savings. 3 Pay off debt quicklyBeing in debt can be a soul-sucking experience. The banks are NOT your friends. They’ll willingly give you the credit cards you want as long as you meet the criteria, but the moment you’re slow to pay up, you’ll see them show their fangs. The late payment fees, the interest rates, the calls from the debt collectors, the never-ending bills in the mail will all add stress and pressure on you. It can be a very draining and burdensome experience. The best way to avoid this will be to pay your credit card bills in full and on time. At the very least, make the minimum payments punctually so that you don’t incur late fees.Create a debt repayment plan for yourself and stick to it. It’ll take time, but you’ll come out of debt slowly but surely. If you don’t remedy this problem proactively, you’ll be in financial servitude to the banks for a long time and may even end up filing for bankruptcy....

Ep 63Narrowing Your Focus

Segments: QOTD from WildeGoals, not resolutionsThe main topic comes from a question I received from Alan over on MeWe. Alan asked: "My question is how do you narrow down which opportunity to put your efforts into?"My current dilemma is I have a million ideas, a thousand opportunities and bandwidth and cash to do 2 or 3, or honestly 1 really well. Struggling to get myself focused on the one or two that I should put my primary effort, and especially cash into and I think with the current administration, I will need to figure that out quickly."

According to Dr Phil, there are 10 defining moments, 7 critical choices, and 5 pivotal people in each person's life. Many people simply allow these things to "happen to them". But for someone who want to live a truly impactful life of liberty, you MUST consciously choose those moments, choices, and people from this point forward. In the past you simply allowed your circumstances to dictate your life, from now on you will intentionally make the choices in life to create the circumstances you desire.Articles mentioned in the podcast:https://www.activistpost.com/2021/12/7-signs-that-war-with-russia-just-got-even-closer.htmlhttps://www.drphil.com/advice/defining-your-external-factors/

Ep 59Passion for WORK

Whatever you do, do with determination. You have one life to live; do your work with passion and give your best. Alia BhattNothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion. Georg Wilhelm Friedrich HegelFollow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and, above all, don't let anyone limit your dreams. Donovan BaileyPassion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you're passionate about something, then you're more willing to take risks. Yo-Yo MaIf you haven’t guessed by now, passion for the work you do, is the main topic of today’s show.News story highlights:https://thefreethoughtproject.com/children-mistakenly-given-covid-jab-instead-of-flu-vaccine-now-sick-with-heart-problemshttps://babylonbee.com/news/terrifying-new-halloween-mask-depicts-a-human-face-not-wearing-a-maskFind your pizza people.Post from a FB friend:The Kingdom of God is not driven by financial excess to live in comfortable complacency, and neither is it propelled by a disillusioned sense of piety in poverty. Rather it stimulates a contented faith that your needs will be met in correct portion each day, so that you may always rely only on Him.Main topic:How Passion at Work Helps You Get AheadA recent study has discovered 88% of people are unhappy in their job. The other 12% experience joy and passion for what they do.Are you in this 12%?If not, you’re not alone. Sadly, a lack of passion does more than make the day drag. When you’re not enthusiastic about what you do, you’re simply not going to be as productive or even as successful at what you do compared to the individual who gets excited about their job.Don’t believe it? Consider these ideas on how passion at work will help you get ahead.Passionate People FocusYou can’t help but be intrigued by the things you’re passionate about. You can’t wait to dive in and see what makes things tick. This kind of focus enables you to see all the moving parts easily. It also keeps you more on task, and less likely to allow interruption as you hate to be pulled away from what you love.Passionate People Experience Less StressWhen you’re passionate, you’re just more relaxed overall. Why would you be stressing about doing something you love? Instead, you’re more likely to feel the satisfaction of doing what you love as you get stuff done.Passionate People are CreativeWhen you love what you do, you can’t wait to learn more about it. This interest in your work makes you more knowledgeable and more likely to notice things. This leads to more creativity in the course of your day.Passionate People Get More DonePassion is what wakes up a competitive spirit. You can’t wait to get things done just to see what comes next. All these things mean you’re putting out more work, and are much more likely to finish tasks over someone who isn’t passionate.Passionate People Do BetterWhen you’re passionate, you’re going to be more interested in the details and will push more to ‘get it right’ just because you can. Being passionate means you’re doing a better quality of work, which is, in turn, noticed by those around you. Hey, think about it. When...

Ep 58Debunking Social Mantras - with Myles Wakeham

Myles is atypical and yet successful. He is a multi-millionaire, having had that status (and lost it) 3 times in his life. Today his final success has led him to tell his story through his appearances on dozens of media outlets and through hosting his podcast “The Unconstrained Podcast”.Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Myies began is career as a software developer in the late 1970s, having never even graduated high school. After success in his field, he moved to the USA at the age of 24, with nothing more than a bag of clothes and left a millionaire.Myles rejects the social norms of education, 9-5 job, and retirement outright and shows through his methods that one can live a financially sustainable life regardless of background, geography or education. His approach to being a contrarian shows that going against the herd can pay off.You can find out more and connect with Myles here:https://www.beunconstrained.com/contact-ushttps://www.beunconstrained.com

Ep 53Fighter Pilot Wes Woodhouse on Leadership and Mindset

Ep 50The things that cause you FEAR

You should totally NOT be afraid of things that have no effect on your life. You probably shouldn't even be afraid of many of the things that DO have an effect on your life. Simply design your life the way you want to live, and let go of everything else. How To Deal With FEARI’ve been seeing a lot of posts about FEAR.FEAR of another lock down, or FEAR of the new “DELTA” variant, I’m afraid of this, what If this happens.Life is full of things to be afraid of.Guess what? You don’t have to be afraid, or live in a constant state of FEAR.Fear makes us do some goofy things, ya, know like buying 413 rolls of toilet paper and ½ pound of ham.If you want to STOP being afraid or at least be able to function when chaos and FEAR confront you.The easiest thing you can do is become AWARE and PREPARE.So, lets take a look at FEAR what it is, where it comes from and how you can learn to dance with it using some pretty cool exercises that I myself use to control anxiety or FEAR.https://patriotprep.medium.com/beyond-fear-3-great-ways-to-step-over-your-terror-barrier-and-dance-with-your-lizard-a7ad9a082c20Share this show with a friend who is afraid of all the BS. 37 Flip Your Switch to a Success Mindset

QOTD: “If ever you think that you’re losing control of a situation, just shift your mindset and watch your situation change.” – Dr. Amelia RoseIf you are experiencing low energy, or are not in good spirits, you may want to consider altering your mindset. When you are down, it can be due to negative thoughts. You start to dwell on everything that is going wrong. You reflect that you aren’t where you thought you would be and it gives you a sinking feeling. When you start to have negative thoughts, you are setting the stage to beat yourself down. What’s worse is this situation continues to grow. Negativity feeds on itself. When you put yourself down, you will eventually put others down. You will look for others who share your negativity because misery loves company. As the negative energy thrives, you fall deeper into the mental abyss. To turn this around, you first have to realize that it’s happening. No one likes to admit to doing something wrong, but negative thinking is wrong if you are engaging in it. You have to try and reflect on your life. Think back to when you were happy. Was it a couple of months ago or a couple of years? That will give you a good indication of when you started with the negative thinking. When you were happy, it’s unlikely you were thinking negatively. If you don’t believe you are negative but you feel down about your current situation, consider asking friends and family how you have been behaving recently. Tell them you want an honest assessment. Unfortunately, because you are in a negative mindset, you may lash out at their answers. That will make them upset with you since you told them you want an honest assessment. However, if it helps you to see what you are doing, eventually they will forgive you when you turn the situation around.Once you have identified that you have a negative mindset, work hard to introduce positivity into your life. Set up a bad thoughts money jar and whenever you say something negative, put money into the jar. You can do this at work, at home, or both. When you see the jar filling up, you know you have more work to do.Avoid other negative people as much as possible. They will try to bring you back down, and you may even let them do it. Limiting your exposure to these people is a great step to take on your journey towards positivity.Flipping your switch can seem like a massive undertaking. One that there are a million different ways to achieve if all the articles on the internet have anything to say about it. However, flipping your switch is a personal undertaking, one that may have similar milestones for everyone, but really can and should be curtailed to a person’s needs in order to be successful. Keep reading for the 7 steps you need to personalize to flip your own switch. Find an Activity that Challenges YouThe activity that will most help you flip your own switch is the one that challenges you. Not your neighbor or your sibling. But you. This could be as simple as folding an entire basket of laundry in one sitting or the Sunday morning crossword in pen! Commit to yourselfWhatever challenge you’re undertaking, you’re doing it for you. Make a promise to yourself that you will try your hardest and not give up when the going gets tough. Set Realistic GoalsMake sure your goals are attainable. You aren’t going to fold all the laundry that you do on Sunday by the end of Sunday. But maybe you could at least hang up the stuff that will wrinkle. Or perhaps you will only use a pen on the crossword answers you feel 100% certain about, pencil on the rest. Turn off the T.V. (or the Internet) In...

36 Reflections of an Introvert

Quotes of the day:“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ~ Benjamin Franklin“Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” ~ Abraham Lincoln“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” ~ George Orwell“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?” ~ Mahatma GandhiTrue liberty is one where each person gets to decide his or her own path. They don’t have to deal with other people ruling over them.At a recent event I attended, hosted by Nicole Sauce, Living Free in Tennessee, I learned a few things about myself that I hope can help you as well. Being an introvert, I find it hard to put myself out there when I’m around large groups of people I don’t know. As I found a bit of alone time to recharge my batteries, I found myself thinking about how, while introverts like me need time alone to rest and recharge, other people need to be around lots of people in order to charge up their batteries. But, whether we need people to recharge or not, we still need a community of like-minded people to help us and lift us up when we’re down, and who we can pour ourselves into as well. We need that, whether we want to need it or not. Community is vital to thriving. As you think about life, consider why it is you react the way you do in different situations, and what the factors are leading up to that reaction. In the future of this show, I want to start to incorporate more about how to prepare for when the tough times come our way, and how to create a life that’s resilient against those tough times.Mentioned in this episode:Check out Nicole Sauce’s podcast, Living Free in Tennessee, for quality content, and interesting and informative ideas.

35 Find Your Inner Vision

In order for you to achieve what you want in life, you have to first know what that thing is: you have to VISUALIZE it!!Visualization typically has five steps, looking something like this:Setting the StageHere is where you prepare yourself for visualization by cutting out the distractions and detaching the mind. In other words, you're supposed to relax. Find a comfortable place to sit or recline. Make it as free from noise and outside interruptions as possible. Maybe darken the room or create a soft ambiance with light music or even something restful such as the sound of water from a fountain. Get comfortable and breathe deeply, counting backward until you feel calm. Generally, doing so from 25 is sufficient, but if you're a little more stressed, you might want to pick a higher number to give yourself adequate time to unwind thoroughly.Picture the GoalHere is where you want to layer in all those senses mentioned before. Create the intended goal in your mind. What does this look like? Sound like? Taste like? Feel like? Smell like? Ask yourself each of those questions, in turn, taking time to explore the answer fully. This is your future you're talking about, so you want to be sure to not be stingy on the details. Make this as full of a picture as you possibly can.How are you Feeling? When you have the image, explore what it means from an emotional viewpoint. How do you feel when you think of this goal? How do you think you'll feel when you achieve it? What emotions come up as you explore these thoughts? Again, experience them each in turn. Don't get caught up in thinking you should feel just one way. Your emotions might be all over the place. Seek out the predominant one.Add in FaithHere's the hard part. You need to trust you already have this. This vision is yours, in all its completeness, somewhere in the future. It's up to you to take hold of it.Now Step BackThis is essential. If you don't detach from this visualization, you'll get so caught up in it that you won't be able to effectively enjoy the process of getting there, much less create it. This is a funny feeling because your initial response might be you either will just be given the result you want like some kind of magical genie granting wishes or that you need to throw yourself at creating this result, half killing yourself to get there. Neither of these is true, by the way. The truth is much simpler. You focus only on doing the next right thing with the assurance you're always moving toward the correct outcome. Remember, the key to this entire process lies in the practice of it. You have to undergo these same steps more than once. Revisiting your visualization is where you're going to find the best success.
