Long ago, when I still wore pyjamas with mittens and slippers attached, I had a nightmare that I still remember clearly. I went outside to see what my dad was up to and found him in our barnyard. When I approached him, he told me to go back inside. A monster was in the woods, and small children were its favourite food. That’s when I heard thundering footsteps coming from the nearby forest. I was afraid and turned to see a Sasquatch walking up to me. My body was frozen, and the monster quickly grabbed me. It brought me into the forest, where it found a large rock. It then started smashing my head against the hard surface, and I woke up screaming in fear and pain. This is when my mom came running. The first thing she said was, “You are soaking wet! These pyjamas are too hot for you. I am going to throw them out.” That’s when I started crying and freaking out. After all, those were my favourite pyjamas, and Mom was taking them away from me when I was just killed by a monster! The reason I had the dream was that my grandmother always let me read her newspapers, which were things like The World News and The National Enquirer. In 2016; a horror movie called “The Boy” was released. It’s about a young woman named Greta, who was hired as a nanny for who she thinks is a little boy. Werewolves have been part of folklore since the times of Greek mythology. In one of the earliest stories about werewolves; an Arcadian King named Lycaon decided to test Zeus by serving him a dish of his slaughtered and dismembered son to see if Zeus was truly the all seeing god that everyone said he was. When Zeus found out, he was furious. As punishment, Zeus turned Lycaon into a wolf and killed his fifty sons by bolts of lightning. He then brought the hacked up son back to life, and it was he that succeeded his father on the throne of Arcadia. Through the ages, many have been fascinated by stories about werewolves. Experts believe there are several reasons behind this which include the duality of humanity, the escapism of the stories themselves, and the moral and ethical dilemmas that these characters face. We get a thrill from hearing about a werewolf being just like us during the day, but at night turning into an animalistic killer. When I was growing up, I loved to travel off the farm to spend time with my cousins in the city of Edmonton. Lighthouses are beacons of light that help ships safely come home, and often they are a lifeline to seafarers caught in the chaos of a violent storm. America’s Most Wanted was an American tv show that debuted on February 7, 1988 that was hosted by John Walsh. John had gained publicity and became a crime advocate after his own son was kidnapped and murdered in 1981. The show featured crime reenactments and interviews with those who were involved, with the goal to get tips that could eventually solve the crime. This show was the longest running crime reality show in the history of Fox Broadcasting Company, and it contributed to the arrest of more than 1000 fugitives. When I was a young child; my mom would drop me off at my grandparent’s house while she ran her errands. Grandma would plunk me down on the living room couch, and give me her newspapers to read. Very few women in history stand out in the way that Agrippina the Younger does. She was the granddaughter of the first Roman emperor Octavian, and was a great niece to Emperor Tiberius. She was Emperor Caligula’s sister, the wife of Emperor Claudius, and she was the mother of Emperor Nero. This pedigree allowed for her to have immense power, but even so - Agrippina lived in a society ruled by men. Because of this, she had to fight, scheme, and possibly murder to gain her power. Robert Pickton, who is known as the Pig Farmer Killer, confessed to killing forty nine women between 1995 and 2001.
