Historical Jesus

Prince Nezahualcoyotl was a scholar, warrior, architect, poet and eventual ruler of the city-state of Texcoco in pre-Columbian era Mesoamerica during the century preceding Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. The Valley of Mexico is a highlands plateau surrounded by mountains and volcanoes (coterminous with present-day Mexico City) that was the centre for several pre-Columbian civilizations. Generations later, Conquistadors arrived in the New World. They were the cavaliers, knights, soldiers and explorers of the Iberian Empires during the Age of Exploration who sailed the Oceans, conquering territory, opening trade routes, and bringing colonialism to much of the world, including America. The Magnificat is a hymn, also known as the Canticle of Mary. Its name comes from the incipit of the Latin version of the text taken from the Gospel of Luke where it is spoken by Mary upon the occasion of her Visitation to her cousin Elizabeth. In the narrative, after Mary greets Elizabeth, who is pregnant with John the Baptist, the latter moves within Elizabeth's womb. Elizabeth praises Mary for her faith using words partially reflected in the Hail Mary prayer, and Mary responds with what is now known as the Magnificat, one of the eight most ancient Christian hymns and perhaps the earliest Marian hymn. The Massacre of the Innocents is a story recounted in the Nativity narrative of the Gospel of Matthew (2:16–18) in which Herod the Great, king of Judea, orders the execution of all male infants who are two years old and under in the vicinity of Bethlehem. Some Christians venerate the Holy Innocents as the first Christian martyrs, but most modern scholarship finds no evidence that it happened outside the passages in Matthew and thus consider it a Myth.
