This week, Angela is in conversation with former Team GB rower, Baz Moffat, about how we can support young girls of all ages in sport much more than we currently are. Women In Sport recently discovered that almost half of all teenage girls end up disengaging with sport due to a lack of support and the pressures of school work, amongst other reasons, and in this show, Baz and Angela talk through ways in which we can stop so many potential sports stars from losing their sporting passions. We all know how to fast, but there are different rules for women and men. In this episode, Angela is joined once more by Dr Mindy Pelz who talks about the specific ways we should be using fasting as a tool, and optimising our longevity, hormone balance and energy levels. As oestrogen drops, we become more insulin resistant, which is one of the main reasons why women over forty in particular, must know how to fast effectively. A twenty four hour fast can kill bacteria in the small intestine. When we reintroduce food, there's less there to agitate and cause bloating.
