We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 1. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. The king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar, and he ordered Ashpenaz, his chief of staff, to bring some of the young men of Judah who were strong, healthy, and good looking to the palace. He wanted these men to be smart, and they would be trained for three years in the language and books of Babylon so they could serve the king. The king also ordered that they would be given food and drink from his own kitchens daily. Daniel and his three friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - were four of the young men chosen from the tribe of Judah to enter the king’s training. But Daniel chose not to eat the food and drink given by the king because it was food that God had told his people not to eat. Daniel asked Ashpenaz for permission to not eat this food. Ashpenaz liked Daniel, but he told him that he was afraid that if Daniel didn’t eat the food that the king ordered, that he would become weak compared to the other young men, and that would get Ashpenaz in trouble with the king.Daniel asked his attendant if he and his three friends could eat a diet of only vegetables and water for ten days and then be tested to see how they compared to the other young men. The attendant agreed. At the end of ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the king’s food. So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and drink provided for the others.God gave these four young men wisdom and a special understanding for things. God gave Daniel the ability to interpret visions and dreams. When the three years of training was over, all the young men were brought before the king, but no one impressed the king as much as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So the four men entered the king’s service and whenever the king asked them about something, he found them more capable than any of the other wise men in his kingdom.

Eighteen years after Josiah became king, he sent one of his court secretary, Shaphan, to God’s temple. Many of the kings before Josiah did not take good care of God’s house, so it was in need of repair. While they were in the temple, Hikiah the high priest said to Shaphan, “I have found the book of the law in the Lord’s Temple!” So Shaphan took the scroll back to king Josiah and read it to him. When Josiah heard what was in the book, he was greatly upset because the people of Israel were not doing the things that God asked them to do, and Josiah knew that God must be angry with Israel for not obeying his commandments.Josiah gathered together all the people of Israel to the temple and read the entire book of the covenant to them. That very day Josiah and all the people promised that they would obey all of what God commanded with all their hearts and souls.Josiah went on to help Israel become a people fully committed to God. He tore down all of the other temples and the idols that they had set up. He got rid of all the people who were doing bad things all throughout Israel. And he did all that was commanded in God’s book. Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.

While he was at sea, God sent a great and powerful wind over the sea that caused a storm that seemed like it would break the ship apart. Fearing for their lives, the sailors tried everything they could think of to save the ship. Meanwhile, Jonah was sound asleep. So the captain went down and said, “How can you sleep at a time like this? Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will help us!”Then the crew figured out that Jonah was the reason for the storm and they asked him, “Who are you? Why is this happening to us?”Jonah told them who he was and that he worshipped the one true God who made the sea. Then he told the sailors to throw him in the sea so the storm would stop. The sailors still tried to escape the storm, but it was no use. So they asked God for forgiveness and threw Jonah into the sea. The storm stopped at once. The sailors were amazed at God’s power and they vowed to serve Him. Now God sent a great fish to swallow Jonah and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and nights. Jonah prayed to God from inside the fish and God ordered the fish to spit Jonah out. God told Jonah again to go to the city of Nineveh and tell them what God had said about them. This time Jonah obeyed God and went to Nineveh to deliver God’s message. The people of Nineveh stopped doing bad things and turned to God. They were saved because they listened to the message that God had given Jonah.

He asked for God’s help saying, “O Lord, God of our ancestors. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you!” He told God of the things God had done for Israel before and asked Him to stop the armies that were coming for them. He said, “We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”All the men of Judah stood before God with their wives and children. The spirit of God came upon one of the men who was standing there and he said, “Listen all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” He told them that tomorrow they would march out against the armies, but they would not need to fight for God would be with them! Then King Jehoshaphat and all of the people of Israel worshipped God. The next morning the army of Judah went out to battle. Jehoshaphat said to them, “Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm!” Jehoshaphat sent the singers to walk ahead of the army and they praised God as they led the army.At the very moment they started praising God, God caused the armies of the other kingdoms to start fighting among themselves. So when the army of Judah came to overlook the battlefield, the enemy was defeated and not a single one of them had escaped. The army of Judah went and gathered the valuables from the valley and there was so much that it took them three days to collect it all. They praised and thanked God who had given them victory! One day, the girl told Naaman’s wife, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.”So Naaman went to the king of Aram and told him what the young girl had said. The king told him to go see the prophet and gave him a letter to give the king of Israel. Naaman went to Israel and brought with him many gifts. He gave the letter from his king to the king of Israel which asked him to heal Naaman. After the king of Israel read the letter, he became very upset because the king knew couldn’t heal Naaman. He thought the king of Aram was trying to pick a fight with him. But there was a man of God in Israel named Elisha. He was a prophet and his job was to tell people what God wanted him to say. He also had done many miracles through God’s power and healed people of sickness. So when he heard that the king of Israel was upset , he sent him a message that said, ““Why are you so upset? Send Naaman to me, and he will learn that there is a true prophet here in Israel.”So Naaman went to Elisha’s house. But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.”This made Naaman angry because he thought Elisha would come to meet him and wave his hand over him to heal him as he called on God’s name. He didn’t understand why he would just need to wash in a river in Israel. So Naaman turned and went away in a rage. But his officers encouraged Naaman to do what Elisha said and Naaman changed his mind. Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as Elisha had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child, and he was healed! Then Naaman went back to find Elisha. Naaman said to Elisha, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”But Elisha refused to accept a gift from Naaman even after he offered a second time. So Naaman asked if he could take some of the dirt from Israel back home, and said he would only offer sacrifices to the one true God from then on. Elisha said, “Go in peace.” So Naaman started home again, healed from his leprosy by the power of God.

He came from a line of kings who did bad things, but King Ahab was the worst of them all. He led the Israelites to do evil things as well and they turned away from God and started worshiping a fake god called Baal. God told Elijah to go speak with Ahab. While he was on his way to Ahab, a good man name Obadiah ran into him on the road. Elijah told him to go tell Ahab that he had come. Obadiah was scared that Elijah would not be there when he got back, but Elijah promised that he would. So Obadiah went to tell Ahab that Elijah had come back. King Ahab went out to meet Elijah and when he saw him he said, “So is it really you, you troublemaker of Israel?”Elijah said, “I have made no trouble for Israel. You and your family are the troublemakers, for you have refused to obey the commands of God and have worshiped images of Baal instead.” Then Elijah told Ahab to bring all of Israel and the prophets of Baal to join him at Mount Carmel. So Ahab did as Elijah asked. Then Elijah stood in from to them and said, “How much longer will you waver? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.Elijah called for two bulls and told the prophets of Baal that they could chose the one they wanted to sacrifice to Baal. They could put it on the altar but not set fire to it. Elijah said, “I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. Then call on the name of your god and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed.Elijah let the prophets of Baal go first. They prepared the sacrifice and called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made.Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder! Perhaps he is away on a trip or is asleep and needs to be wakened!” So they shouted louder and raved all afternoon until the evening, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response. Then Elijah called to the people, “Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of God that had been torn down and dug a trench around the altar. Then he said, “Fill four large jars with water and pour the water over the offering and the wood.”After they had done this, he said, “Do the same thing again!” And when they were finished, he said, “Now do it a third time!” So they did as he said and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench.Elijah walked up to the altar and prayed, “God, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Oh God, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord—He is God! Yes, the Lord is God!”

So Solomon asked God for wisdom. He asked for an understanding heart so that he could rule God’s people well and know the difference between right and wrong. God was happy that Solomon asked for wisdom because it showed that his greatest desire was to help God’s people. God said, “I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!” Then Solomon woke up and realized it had been a dream. Even when David was an old man, he thanked God in front of all the people of Israel for all that He had done. We referenced the following Biblical passages: 1 Samuel 17. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is David. David was a shepherd who lived in Bethlehem. David was chosen by God to be the next king of Israel when he was just a boy. But David had to wait a very long time until that promise would come true because there was another king of Israel named Saul. Saul led the armies of Israel. David’s older brothers were in the army while David took care of the sheep. One day, King Saul was with his army near the valley of Elah. On the other side of this valley the Philistines, the enemies of Israel, gathered their army ready to fight. The Philistines had a giant warrior named Goliath who challenged the Israelites. He shouted and taunted them saying, “Choose one man to come down here and fight me!” Then Goliath spoke badly of God and his people. For forty days, every morning and evening, Goliath strutted in front of the Israelite army. And the Israelites and King Saul were very afraid.Meanwhile, David’s father sent David to bring some food to his brothers and their captain. So David left his sheep and set out early in morning. He arrived at the camp just as the Israelite army was going out to battle. David followed the army to find his brothers. As he was talking with them, Goliath came out from the Philistine army and David heard him shout his usual mean taunts to the army of Israel. As soon as the Israelites saw Goliath, they began to run away in fright. They said, “Have you seen the giant? The king has offered a huge reward to anyone who kills him.”David asked what the reward would be and then said, “Who is this Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?”David’s oldest brother heard David talking to the men and he was angry with him. But David said, “I was only asking a question!” And he continued to ask his question of other men. Then David’s question was reported to King Saul and the king sent for him. David said, “Don’t worry about this Philistine. I’ll go fight him!”Saul said, “There’s no way you can fight him and win. You’re only a boy!”But David told Saul that he had taken care of his father’s sheep and rescued them from lions and bears. He had even defeated lions and bears when they would try to attack him. So David said he would do the same to Goliath for he had spoken terrible things about the armies of God. Then David declared, “The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” So Saul said, “All right, go ahead and may the Lord be with you!”Saul tried to give David his armor, but he wasn’t used to it. So David left the armor behind and picked up five smooth stones from a stream. Then armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight Goliath. When Goliath saw him coming, he sneered at him and yelled bad things at David. But David said, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This is the Lord’s battle and he will give you to us.”Goliath moved closer to attack and David quickly ran out to meet him. He hurled a stone from his sling and it hit Goliath in the forehead. The stone sank in and Goliath stumbled and fell to the ground. The men of Israel rushed after the Philistine army and chased them away. So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword, but he knew the power of God and trusted God to win the battle against the giant.

So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely.”Samson replied, “If I were tied up with seven new bowstrings that have not yet been dried, I would become as weak as anyone else.”So the Philistine rulers brought Delilah seven new bowstrings and she tied Samson up with them. She cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson snapped the bowstrings. So the secret of his strength was not discovered.Afterward Delilah said to him, “You’ve been making fun of me and telling me lies! Now please tell me how you can be tied up securely.”Samson replied, “If I were tied up with brand-new ropes that had never been used, I would become as weak as anyone else.”So Delilah took new ropes and tied him up with them. And again Delilah cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But again Samson snapped the ropes from his arms. Then Delilah said, “You’ve been making fun of me and telling me lies! Again she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson woke up and yanked his hair away from the loom and the fabric. Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me three times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you so strong!” She tormented him with her nagging day after day until he was sick to death of it.Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut for I was dedicated to God as a Nazarite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.”Delilah realized he had finally told her the truth, so she sent for the Philistine rulers. “Come back one more time,” she said, “for he has finally told me his secret.” So the Philistine rulers returned. Delilah lulled Samson to sleep, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. Samson’s strength left him. Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him. So the Philistines captured him and took him to prison.

One day Gideon and his army got up early and came close to the Midianite camp. God told Gideon that he had too many warriors with him. God said, “If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength.” So God told Gideon to let all the men who were scared go home. So 22,000 men went home and Gideon was left with only 10,000. But God told Gideon that he still had too many men with him. He told Gideon to bring the men down to the water and that God would give them a test. Gideon did as God asked and then God said, “Divide the men in two groups. In one group put all those who cup water in their hands and lap it up with their tongues like dogs. In the other group put those who kneel down and drink with their mouths in the stream.” Only 300 of the men drank from their hands. God told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.” So Gideon did as God said. Now the Midianite camp was in the valley just below where Gideon and his 300 men were. That night God told Gideon to get up and go down to the camp to listen to what the Midianites were saying. God told Gideon that if he was afraid he could take his servant Purah with him. So Gideon and Purah went to the edge of the enemy camp. The enemy army was huge! There were too many men and camels for Gideon to even count! Gideon crept up close to the camp and heard a man telling his friend about his dream. The man said that in his dream a loaf of bread came tumbling down to the camp and knocked a tent down flat. His friend said the dream could only mean one thing - that God had given Gideon victory over the Midianites. When Gideon heard this, he worshipped God. Then he went back to the Israelite camp and shouted, “Get up! For God had given you victory over the Midianites!” He divided his 300 men into three groups and gave them a ram’s horn and a clay jar with a torch in it. Then he said, “Keep your eyes on me. When I come to the edge of the camp, do just as I do.” So the Israelite army went down to the enemy camp. It was just after midnight, after the changing of the guard. Suddenly, the Israelites blew their horns and broke their jars. They held blazing torches in one hand and horns in their other and all shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” Gideon and his 300 men stood in position around the camp and watched as all the Midianites rushed around in a panic and tried to escape! Then they blew their ram horns and God caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other. Some of them escaped, but Gideon called for the warriors of the other tribes in Israel to cut them off and so God used Gideon and his army of 300 men to defeat the Midianite army, just as He said He would.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Naomi, who was a Jewish woman from Bethlehem in Judah. Naomi’s husband took her and her two sons to live in a country called Moab because there was a famine in Judah, meaning there wasn’t enough food for them to eat. While they were in Moab, Naomi’s husband died and her sons married two Moabite women named Orpah and Ruth. But then Naomi’s sons died, leaving Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth alone. Naomi heard that God had blessed his people in Judah by giving them good crops for food again. So Naomi took her two daughters-in-law and set out for Judah. On the way, Naomi told her daughters-in-law to go back to their mothers’ homes. They all cried and then Ruth and Orpah told Naomi that they wanted to go with her to her people. But Naomi told them to go home and marry other men. They all cried again and Orpah said goodbye. Ruth clung tightly to Naomi though. Naomi told her that she should go like Orpah did, but Ruth said, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” When Naomi saw that Ruth was set on going with her, she said nothing more. So Ruth and Naomi went back to Judah. When the people in Bethlehem saw Naomi they were excited! But Naomi said to, “Call me Mara, for the Almighty has made life very bitter for me.”When Ruth and Naomi returned, it was harvest time in Bethlehem. Ruth went to gather grain in the field of a man named Boaz. Boaz treated Ruth with kindness and made sure that she and Naomi had food from the fields. Naomi heard of this and told Ruth that Boaz was a close relative of Naomi’s husband, so he could be her husband. Ruth went to Boaz and told him that she was her family’s redeemer. Boaz then put everything in order to take Ruth as his wife. Ruth and Boaz had a son named Obed. Naomi cared for Obed as if he were her own. Obed went on to have a son of his own named Jesse and he had a son named David who would be the great king of Israel who defeated a giant named Goliath. And many, many years later Ruth and Boaz’s descendants would include Jesus, the savior of the world!

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Joshua. Joshua was the leader of the Israelites who God used to bring His people to the Promised Land. When God told Joshua it was time to take the Promised Land, Joshua sent spies into the city of Jericho. While those spies were in Jericho they were protected by a woman named Rahab. The spies promised to spare Rahab and her family when they took back the land. And she hung a scarlet chord from her window to remind them of their promise. Now the Israelites had crossed the Jordan and were camped near the town of Jericho. One day Joshua looked up and there was a man standing before him. The man said, “I am the commander of the army of the Lord.” Joshua asked what the man wanted to tell him and the Lord said that he wanted Joshua to take the city of Jericho but that Joshua needed to follow his instructions exactly. Now Jericho was shut up for fear of the Israelites. No one came out and no one came in. So the Lord told Joshua to gather his soldiers and march around the city for six days. The priests were to take the arc of the covenant and seven priest were to go in front of it blowing a ram’s horn. On the seventh day they were to march around the city seven times and blow the horn. Then all the people of Israel were to give a great shout. And then the city walls would fall. So Joshua said, “Shout for the Lord has given you the city.” And the people did shout and the walls did fall. The Israelites overtook the city of Jericho as God had commanded. They remembered Rahab because of her faithfulness. Now Joshua was faithful in carrying out God’s commands. And the Israelites took many other cities as God told them they would. For God will never fail to fulfill His promises. So the Israelites came to live in the land that God had promised their fathers Abraham, Issac, Israel, Joseph, and Moses many years ago.

They camped beside the river for 3 days waiting just as the Lord had commanded them. At this time of year, the Jordan River was flooded and flowing with so much water that it was impossible to cross on foot.God told Joshua to tell the people that the priests would carry the Arc of the Covenant and lead the people through the water. He told the priests to step into the rushing waters and when they would do this the waters would stop flowing. And as soon as the priests did this, the water of the Jordan did stop flowing and the priests stood with the Arc of the Covenant on dry ground as the Israelites crossed to the other side. God told Joshua to send 12 men from the 12 tribes of Israel to take 12 stones from the place that the priests were standing. When all this had been finished as God commanded, Joshua called the priests from the Jordan. As their feet left the Jordan River, the waters came back into place just as they had been. They brought the stones to their camp and set them as a memorial so future generations might remember the story of how God brought His people through the Jordan River on dry ground.

Everyone who wanted to ask God for something would go to the Tent of Meeting outside the camp.Whenever Moses went out to the Tent of Meeting, all the people would watch Moses until he disappeared inside. As he went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the Lord spoke with Moses. Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, just as one speaks to a friend. And because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can talk to God as if we are talking to a friend too.

But God called Moses back to Egypt to deliver His people with the help of his brother Aaron. After God showed his miraculous power in Egypt, he led the Israelites through the Red Sea and towards the Promised Land. They followed God who showed himself as a cloud by day and fire by night. As God led them through the wilderness, the Israelites became thirsty and hungry. They complained to Moses and Aaron and said, “If only we had died in Egypt!”God said to Moses that he would provide for his people. And each night God gave them meat. But God told them to only take what they needed for the day. The people ignored God and took more than what they needed and the food went bad. The people were still thirsty and they were mad at Moses saying, “Did you bring us out here to die of thirst!?” So Moses cried out to God and God told Moses to strike a rock and water came flowing out of it for the people to drink. And so the Lord provided for his people’s needs. After traveling in the desert for 3 months, they came to Mount Sinai and God called Moses from the top of the mountain. God spoke to Moses there of the future of his people and reminded him of the miracles of the past. After 3 days, there was thunder and lightning, as a thick cloud covered the mountain. The people heard a loud trumpet blast. And Moses led the people to the foot of the mountain to meet with God. God called Moses and Aaron to meet him at the top of the mountain. God told them how His people were to live and how they were to honor him and respect each other. These rules that God told them are called the 10 commandments. The Israelites had seen for themselves that God had spoken to Moses from heaven. And the Israelites feared God, for his mighty power had brought them out of slavery and provided for them in the desert.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Joshua and this is Caleb. Joshua and Caleb were some of the Israelites who followed Moses out of Egypt into the wilderness to find the land that God had promised them. Sometime after that, God told Moses to send out men to explore the Promised Land which was called the land of Canaan. So Moses sent a leader from each of the 12 tribes of Israel and Joshua and Caleb were among them. Moses told them to go see what the land was like and find out if the people living there were strong or weak. He told them to bring back a report of all they found. So the 12 men went and explored. While they were there, they found that the land was very good for crops. They found a single cluster of grapes that took two men to carry! After 40 days, they returned to Moses and showed them the fruit they found. They said it was a land flowing with milk and honey and that it was a good land. But they also said that the people living there were powerful and that their cities were strong. They even saw giants there! But Caleb said, “Let’s go at once to take the land! We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who were with him disagreed and spread the bad report all throughout the Israelite camp. This made the Israelites cry all through the night. They told Moses and Aaron that they wished they had died in Egypt or in the wilderness and asked for a new leader who would take them back to Egypt. Moses and Aaron fell face down on the ground. Joshua and Caleb tore their clothing. Joshua and Caleb told the people, “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. Do not rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They have no protection, but the Lord is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!”But all the Israelites talked about hurting Joshua and Caleb. Then God’s presence appeared to the Israelites and God spoke to Moses. He was angry at the Israelites and said to Moses, “Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?” God said that he would make a new nation from Moses and that the Israelites would be no more. But Moses asked God to forgive the people and God said he would, but that the people would wander in the wilderness for forty years and none of the people would enter the Promised Land except for Joshua and Caleb. The people did wander for forty years. Moses died and Joshua became the new leader of the Israelites. The time came for Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land that Joshua and Caleb had scouted many years before. Joshua led the people, including Caleb, into the Promised Land for God was with him wherever he went.

Many years later, God called Moses back to Egypt to rescue His people with the help of his brother Aaron. The Pharaoh did not want to let God’s people go and God showed His power throughout all Egypt by sending plagues. Even with all the suffering, Pharaoh’s heart stayed hard and he would not let the people go. On the night of the last plague, Pharaoh woke up and heard a great cry in Egypt, for there was not an Egyptian house in which someone was not dead. Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and told them to leave Egypt with the Israelites. So the Israelites immediately left Egypt and made their way for the Promised Land taking with them many riches from Egypt. They took Joseph’s bones as they had promised him many years before. God led them by a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. God told Moses to have the people camp along the shore of the Red Sea. God told Moses that the Egyptians would come after them, but that God would show His glory and power through this. When word reached Pharaoh that the Israelites had gone, Pharaoh changed his mind and readied his army to take back the Israelites. The Egyptians found the Israelites camped along the shore of the sea. As Pharaoh and his armies came close, the Israelites panicked! They cried out to God and asked Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness?” But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”Then God said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!” As night came, the pillar of cloud became fire and it went between the Israelites and the Egyptians. Then Moses raised his hand over the sea and God opened a path through the water with a strong wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! Then the Egyptians chased the Israelites into the middle of the sea. But just before dawn God looked down on the Egyptian army from the pillar of fire and cloud, and He threw their forces into total confusion. “Let’s get out of here—away from these Israelites!” the Egyptians shouted. “The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt!”When all the Israelites had reached the other side, God said to Moses, “Raise your hand over the sea again.” Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the water rushed back into its usual place. The Egyptians tried to escape, but God swept them into the sea. That is how God rescued Israel from the hand of the Egyptians that day. When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that God had shown against the Egyptians, they were amazed. They put their faith in God and in His servant Moses.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Moses. Moses was a descendent of Joseph’s brother Levi. Joseph and his brothers had many children and grandchildren who lived happily in Egypt.Eventually, a new Pharaoh came to power who knew nothing of Joseph or what he had done. This Pharaoh feared the Israelites because of there were a great number of them living in Egypt. So he wanted to put a stop to their prosperity. Pharaoh made the Israelites slaves, he made them work long hard hours building up Egyptian cities. But his plan didn’t work, and the Israelites grew more in number and strength. So Pharaoh made a rule that no Israelite boy would be allowed to live in Egypt. This is where Moses’ story begins. When Moses was born, his mother saw that he was a special baby and she kept him hidden for three months. But when she could no longer keep him a secret, she made a basket and put him in the Nile River among the reeds. Moses’ sister stayed to watch what would happen to her baby brother, and soon the Pharaoh’s daughter came to the edge of the river. When she saw the basket, she sent her servant to get it. When she saw the baby she felt sorry for him thinking that he must be a Israelite baby who wasn’t supposed to live. Then Moses’ sister asked the princess if she would like her to find a Israelite woman to take care of the baby. So Moses’ sister went and got her mother. Moses own mother took care of him until he was old enough to live in the Pharaoh’s house where the princess adopted him as her son. And so Moses, a Israelite boy who wasn’t supposed to live, became the adopted grandson of the Pharaoh and lived in the palace as God prepared him for a great destiny that was only just starting to unfold.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Joseph, who was the son of Israel and Rachel. But he had 11 brothers who hated him and sold him into slavery. After being put in jail, Joseph told of the future of Egypt when he interpreted Pharaoh's dreams. And Joseph found favor with the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh made Joseph a leader in his kingdom. Just as Joseph had told the Pharaoh, Egypt had 7 years of abundance. Then the 7 years of abundance came to an end, and the 7 years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. But the Egyptians had food to eat because Joseph had planned for the famine. There was famine in all the other lands, and many came to Joseph to buy food. There was even a famine in the land that Joseph came from. So when Israel heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent his sons to buy some. But Israel did not send Benjamin with the others, because he was afraid that harm might come to him. When Joseph's brothers came to him, Joseph recognized them but he pretended to be a stranger. But the brothers did not. So Joseph decided to test his brothers. He had his interpreter tell them to send for Benjamin, who had stayed home. And then he threw his brothers in jail for 3 days. On the third day, Joseph let all but one of the brothers take grain to their starving households with the instruction to bring Benjamin back with him. But Joseph provided for his brother’s journey and gave them grain and silver. The brothers did exactly as Joseph instructed, as they were scared that God was punishing them for what they had to done to Joseph so many years before. They traveled home to their father's house then back to Egypt. Now that he had seen that they brought Benjamin Joseph was overwhelmed at seeing his brother for the first time. So he released the brother who was still in prison. But Joseph decided to play one more trick on his brothers. He sent the brothers away but told his servant to hide his silver cup in Benjamin’s bag. Then Joseph told the servant to go after the brothers and retrieve the cup. The brothers hadn’t traveled far before the servant stopped them and accused them of stealing the cup. And the brothers denied it. The servant pretended that he didn’t believe them and the brothers emptied their sacks to show that they were without blame.Joseph could no longer control himself before his attendants. He made them leave so he could be alone with his brothers. And he told his brothers who he really was. He told them of his life and all that he had experienced and he forgave them for what they had done. God was with Joseph and took care of him and showed him favor.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Joseph. Who was the son of Israel and Rachel, he was his father's favorite so his brothers hated him and sold him into slavery. Joseph was taken to Egypt and Potiphar, one of the Pharaoh's officials, bought him for his household.God was with Joseph and he did well in Potiphar's house. Potiphar saw that God made everything Joseph did a success so he put Joseph in charge of his whole house. And God blessed Potiphar's house because of this. Potiphar's wife saw how well Joseph was doing in the house and she wanted to make him do bad things. Joseph ran away from her because he wanted nothing to do with someone who would try to make him do the wrong thing. This made Potiphar's wife angry and she wanted to be rid of Joseph. So she lied and made Potiphar believe that Joseph had done the bad things that she wanted him to do. Potiphar burned with anger against Joseph … and sent him to prison. While Joseph was in prison, again he did well and the warden soon made him responsible for all that was done there. God was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. When two full years had passed, Pharaoh was having unsettling dreams. Pharaoh did not understand his dreams so he sent for Joseph. Pharaoh asked Joseph to tell him the meaning of his dreams. With God’s help, Joseph told Pharaoh that the dreams told of what would come in the future and he explained all the dreams to the pharaoh. Pharaoh believed that what Joseph was saying was true. He trusted Joseph as a wise man… and he put him in charge of the land of Egypt, of Pharaoh's palace, and all of his people.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Genesis 25:19-34, 26:34-28:10, 32-33. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jacob, who was later called Israel. Jacob was the father of 12 sons who became the 12 tribes of Israel. Jacob had a twin brother named Esau. Even when Jacob and Esau were in their mother’s belly, they fought. As the boys grew up, Esau liked to be outside and to hunt while Jacob was quiet and liked to stay home. Their father, Isaac, loved Esau because he liked eating what Esau hunted but Rebekah, their mother loved Jacob. Esau had a birthright which means he would get special things and privileges because he was the first born. One day Jacob was making a stew and Esau came home so hungry and asked for some. Jacob said he would trade Esau some stew for his birthright. Esau agreed and Jacob was given Esau’s birthright. Later on, Isaac their father was getting very old and he wanted to bless his son Esau. Isaac’s blessing was very important and Rebekah wanted Jacob to have the blessing instead of Esau. So, Rebekah told Jacob to pretend to be Esau and go to his father for the blessing. Isaac was turning blind so he believed that Jacob was Esau and blessed him. Esau came to his father to get his blessing, but Isaac had already given it to Jacob. All of this made Esau hate his brother Jacob. Esau made plans to kill his brother. Rebekah heard of this and had Isaac send Jacob away to live with her family. For many years, Jacob lived with his uncle and worked in the field taking care of his flock. He started a family and gained many servants, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats. God told Jacob to leave his uncle’s land and go back to the land of his father. So, Jacob took his family and everything he owned and traveled back home. Jacob knew that his brother would be there though, so he sent messengers ahead and heard that Esau had an army of 400 men with him! Jacob prayed to God and asked for him to rescue him from Esau. Then he sent gifts ahead of him for his brother. That night Jacob was alone in his camp, for he had sent his family and everything he had ahead of him. A man came and wrestled with him until dawn. The man saw that he wouldn’t win so he touched Jacob’s hip and said, “Let me go!” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me!” Then the man gave Jacob a new name. He said, “From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and men and have won.” The man blessed Jacob. Jacob left that place but he had a limp because of the injury to his hip. Then Jacob looked up and saw his brother Esau coming with his 400 men. Jacob went ahead of his family and bowed to his brother. Esau ran to meet Jacob and hugged him. They both wept. Jacob introduced Esau to his family and gave him a gift even though Esau said he had enough. After everything Jacob and Esau had been through, the brothers made peace with each other. And Jacob went on to be the father of the great nation of Israel.

So Abraham had Sarah and his servant prepare food for them men. When the food was ready, Abraham took the food and served it to the men. As they ate, Abraham waited on them in the shade of the trees.“Where is Sarah, your wife?” the visitors asked.“She’s inside the tent,” Abraham said. Then one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!”Sarah was listening to this from the tent. She laughed silently to herself because she thought it was funny to think that she and Abraham could have a child in their old age. Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh.”But the Lord said, “No, you did laugh.”A year later, Sarah did have a son. The son’s name was Isaac. God’s promises came true for Abraham and Sarah. Abraham became the father of many nations and from his child came children and from their children, more children, until Abraham’s descendants were truly more numerous than the stars in the sky, just as the Lord had promised.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.Genesis 6-9:17This is Noah. Noah was a good man who tried to do the right thing. But in the time when Noah lived, he was the only man on earth who was doing the right thing. All the other people on earth were doing evil things and hurting each other. This made God very sad. So God said that he was going to send a flood to the earth that would destroy every living thing on earth because he was sorry he ever made them. But God decided to save Noah and his family!God told Noah to build a boat and fill it with two of every kind of animal and bird. Noah did just that, and then Noah and his whole family boarded the boat and waited for the flood to come. The rain fell hard for forty days and forty nights! Water covered the whole earth, and the boat floated safely on the surface. Water covered even the highest mountains on earth, but Noah and his family were saved. God remembered Noah and all the animals on the boat. God sent a wind to blow across the earth and the flood began to go away. After 5 months, the boat came to rest on a mountain top. A few months later, the other mountains could be seen. Forty days later, Noah opened a window and released a raven. The bird flew back and forth until the flood had dried up. He also sent a dove out to see if it could find dry ground. But the dove couldn’t find a place to land because there was still water on the ground. So, the dove returned to the boat. After another 7 days, Noah sent the dove out again. This time it came back with an olive leaf, so Noah knew that the floodwaters were almost gone. A week later, he sent the dove out again and it didn’t come back.So many months after the flood began, Noah opened the covering of the boat and saw that the ground was drying. He waited two more months and at last, the earth was dry! Then God said to Noah, “Leave the boat, all of you. Release the animals so they can be fruitful and multiply throughout the earth.” So Noah, his family, and all the animals finally left the boat!Noah built an altar to the Lord to make a sacrifice to God. God was pleased with Noah’s offering and said to himself that he would never again destroy every living thing on earth. God blessed Noah and his sons and promised them that he would never send another flood. He gave them the rainbow in the sky as a sign of this promise to Noah, his family, and all mankind.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Adam and this is Eve who were the first people on earth. They lived in the garden of Eden which was a beautiful place that had everything they needed. Adam and Eve took care of the animals and could eat from any of the trees in the garden except for one. This was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and God told them to not eat from this tree. There were lots of animals in the garden, but the serpent was the most clever of all the wild animals God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”Eve said that they were able to eat from all of the fruit trees except the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden. For God said, “You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.”“You won’t die!” said the serpent. “God knows that as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to Adam and he ate it too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly realized they weren’t wearing clothes are were embarrassed. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. When the cool evening breezes were blowing, Adam and Eve heard God walking about in the garden. So they hid from God among the trees. Then God called to Adam, “Where are you?”Adam said, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”“Who told you that you were naked?” God asked. “Did you eat from the tree I told you not to eat from?”Adam said, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”Then God asked Eve, “What have you done?”“The serpent tricked me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”Then God punished the serpent by making it so he would crawl on his belly from then on. He told Eve that she would have great pain in her life. Then God said to Adam that because he listened to Eve and did not obey what God had told him to do, his life would be very difficult. He would have to work hard to get food to eat. God said, “For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.”Then God made them clothing from the animals. But God knew that Adam and Eve could no longer live in the garden because of their sin so he sent them away and closed up the garden.

He would pray to God consistently, three times a day. Daniel had a very close relationship to God due to how often he would talk to God through prayer and because of his unshakable faith. God also gave Daniel an incredible gift—Daniel was able to interpret dreams. This gift led Daniel to successfully interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. The king then gave Daniel a high up position in the kingdom and gave him many gifts. Because Daniel was so smart, other wise men in the kingdom were very jealous. Their jealousy led them to convince King Darius to make a new law—that the people were only allowed to pray to the king. If people chose not to obey this law, they would be thrown in the lion’s den. These jealous men knew that Daniel would never obey this law since he would pray to God several times a day.Daniel continued to pray in his room, even when he had heard about this new law. After the jealous men saw him do this, they told King Darius. This made King very upset because he cared for Daniel and tried to get him out of trouble, but knew there was no way around it. Before throwing him in the den, King Darius told Daniel “Your God, to whom you are so loyal, is going to get you out of this.” The next morning, King Darius went to check on Daniel and heard Daniel say “My God sent his angel to shut the lion’s mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have wronged you, Your majesty.” Daniel had not been harmed! They both knew that Daniel was protected because he had completely trusted God and had faith in Him. Daniel had a great amount of love for the Lord. Daniel also had a deep and personal connection to God because he would intentionally talk to God all the time through prayer. Regardless of the situation he was facing, he would make time to pray. Sometimes, we can get so caught up in our daily routine, that we neglect to prioritize our quiet time with God. But the truth is, God wants to hear from us—He wants us to talk to Him because of His love for each and every one of us.I can talk to God. Questions to think about:1. Why did Daniel continue to pray, even when he knew his life would be threatened?2. Why did Daniel have such a close relationship with God?3. How can I remember to talk to God on a daily basis?

Ep 34Jesus Gets His Feet Washed 🦶

One day, Jesus was at a dinner. This one lady who was one of the bad girls, came up to Jesus and started washing his feet! With her hair!!! Listen to the whole story this episode. This story is based on Luke 7:36-50Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat. 37 When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. 38 Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!”40 Then Jesus answered his thoughts. “Simon,” he said to the Pharisee, “I have something to say to you.”“Go ahead, Teacher,” Simon replied.41 Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. 42 But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?”43 Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.”“That’s right,” Jesus said. 44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.47 “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”49 The men at the table said among themselves, “Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?”50 And Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Ep 33The Story of Baby Moses 👶🏽

Poor little Moses had it rough from day 1. He was born into a family of slaves, the king wanted to get of all the baby boys, and his mom left him floating in a river with no one to watch him except his big sister! Find out what happens in this amazing story!“God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.” Exodus 2:24-25Exodus 1-2We all want to know how our lives are going to turn out. We want to know where to go to school, what career we’re supposed to pursue, who we’re supposed to marry, how many kids we should have… the list goes on and on. The thought of the future can be overwhelming and terrifying, because it is unknown and out of our control. This causes lots of anxiety in us because we like control. Not only do we like it, but we crave it. It makes us feel powerful and safe.We feel like if we only knew what we were supposed to do, if we only knew what God wanted for us, we would be less anxious and more ready and willing to trust that He really does have our best interest at heart. Trusting God is already hard enough, so why does He seem to be so silent on the big life decisions we have to make? In Exodus 1-2 Moses’ future was at risk from the very beginning of his life. From being born an Israelite and put into a basket to save his life from Pharaoh to growing up in an Egyptian household, Moses’ life was largely unknown and out of his control; but God protected him because He had great plans for him. At the same time that Moses was growing up in scary and uncomfortable circumstances, God was working within Moses to raise Him to rescue the Israelites from their slavery. To the Israelites in slavery, it probably felt like God wasn’t listening to them. Nothing about their circumstances changed to show that God was even listening to their cries, and they were less in control of their future than they had ever been before, but God was in control and working for their good so that they could be freed. The same is true about our lives and current circumstances. Our futures may seem out of our hands and far from God, but the God that protected Moses and had a great future in store for him is the same God that can be trusted with our future as well. Questions to think about:When you think about your future, do you tend to feel more anxious or at peace? How do you typically respond when things in your life feel out of control?Where in your life can you choose to let go and trust God more?
