People often vent and say it helps them feel better — but what if that temporary relief is impacting your health more than you realize? In this powerful episode of Heal Yourself, Change Your Life®, Brandy Gillmore shares key insights from working with a live volunteer, Jen, a kind, self-aware, and deeply determined woman, who had been experiencing severe pain in both feet, diagnosed as idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. The pain included stabbing and burning sensations and was intense enough that, without medication, she was often in tears. As Brandy worked with her, she identified several counterintuitive emotional patterns connected to frustration, anger, disappointment, and a long-standing sense of struggle. One key pattern involved venting — speaking poorly about others as a way to release frustration. While this brought temporary emotional relief, Brandy pointed out that it was also creating an integrity conflict that was contributing to Jen's ongoing pain. During the session, as these patterns were brought into awareness and shifted, Jen experienced a significant change in her pain. What began at about a level 5 in both feet released to no pain by the end of the session. This episode highlights the difference between effort and struggle, and how unresolved frustration, disappointment, and venting can work against healing — even when someone is highly determined and doing everything they can to improve their life.
