Battleshack 2 results show Ep. 17 is just around the corner so I thought since PODOMATIC expanded my space I would give you folks a chance to hear this cool episode and download it. This was the results show for the Battleshack 1 released on Oct 15, 2017! Check out the show and listen as we countdown the most popular acts from our first group of about 35 to 40 acts from our first 3 years in operation! This was another show I had to take down from the servers. Now my capacity has doubled I can re-upload this to my feed. This show got little publicity and has had the least amount of plays due to its release date. I put this out at Christmas 2018 so people could have fun around the campfire or a New Years party. Its a great chill show with lots of indie flavors and styles to burn the night away under the starry skies while lighting up the night with fun tunes. Errol Sammet, lead singer, can reach wondrous heights and breathtaking lows as he and his band of cronies take you on a journey of sights and sounds while they whisk you way to the busy streets of Berlin or the sunny skies of Ballymena. They are one awesome band and I for one stand behind them all the way...I was included in the EPK to help this band get noticed by SONY!!! Very cool. Home is the where the heart is what they always say! Well, I'm puttin' the focus on NC and SC best talent. I been stompin' my feet all around the Carolinas all my life and especially the last few years looking far and wide for those Ace level acts who can represent the south with pride and dignity and show the world we got what it takes here in the Tarheel and Palmetto states to be a major player in the music industry. Ive got a newspaper article coming out soon in support of this episode. Antoinette Kerr, freelance writer for the Lexington Dispatch is working on a nice piece for the Halshack. Thank you so much to the good folks at the newspaper. Were featuring some awesome talent from all over our stateS with an alt vault to start then a pop stop and then a rock block and so forth. Ok Im in a giving mood!! Surprise!! Its a mystery show for our mystery spotlights. Its a mystery because I didnt plan this it just fell in my lap as I am planning the Carolina shows (TBA) Ive learned there's too much fate wrapped around my show and a huge story I will share with all my fans and friends sometime. July is a great time to travel to the mountains or the beach. This is an awesome playlist to take for the car ride or chillin' and relaxin' under the sun! I have been listening to a fair amount of well-known indie playlists that were "good" or just OK, but not "GREAT" I look for STANDOUTS and I was left feeling less than inspired by these BIG lists with hundreds of thousands of subscribers or millions of plays on You Tube and Spotify. They just dont have access to or the knowledge of the music I have. Exclusive bands and little no names artists that could rock the music world whether it be pickin' a banjo or throwin' down in a club or jamming on an axe laden guitar. Halshack can spin up any genre at the top of the game! You're sure to get your fix of excellent Americana folk/indie acts here from all over the world! A year ago today I began work on the clandestine Ep 12 (Stevie Nicks special), it was also my older brothers birthday as today is as well. Heath Jester, I love you so much brother. Happy birthday man!!Well so much has changed and transpired in the last year. Its been quite amazing to see all the growth that the show has made. Over 30k subscribers added, multiple music platforms to be heard on (over 20 and growing). Over 70 major USA cities and 70 countries from around the world are all figuring out that the Halshack is where its at and my quality of bands is above all others. I bring my own acts to seize the day and show people real bands still exist today. Its taken me 5 years to put together this list of fine rock bands from all corners of the globe. I have more, I cant possibly cover all the songs and bands in one hour so there will be more Rock Ages following down the road but for now enjoy my playlist of the BEST rock songs and rock bands playing today. Its June, Summer is upon us and starry skies are abundant in the sultry nighttime sky here in the Carolinas. Its a beautiful sight to see as I set my starry eyed gaze on conquering the music universe. This show is one of those more artsy musically skilled type shows full of eclectic bands sure to please your whimsical palette. Americana/folk, some alternative to start, lots of great "pop" hits as well and plenty of cool rock songs to send your mind wandering off into the stratosphere! 3 Excellent Canadian bands taking flight as well as our favorite Italian band on the planet from Malta will be joining this expedition to the stars. Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there. We're celebrating women around the Halshack. There seems to be a stigma and true statistics that back up the claim that there are far fewer women at the forefront of the music industry. You find alot more men and male bands with that the extra talent needed to push forward. Well you girls and ladies and Moms are just as awesome and you seem to always have to work harder to gain the attention of your peers and THAT'S UNFAIR!! Women are just as fantastic and can be super talented just as much as the guys!! (if not better) There's just far fewer to choose from with ace level talent, songwriting skills, captivation ability, "x" factor appeal. Even diggin' in the trenches of the internet audio sphere, I have not come across many that, are not signed or famous already, who have the whole enchilada..lolWelcome to the future of the music industry folks. I'm sure there are ALOT (probably hundreds or thousands at least or more from all over the world) more than these 8. But that's what I've "discovered" so far. I don't know they are out there until I find them and that's a daunting task. I do have a few more ladies waiting in the wings. You super talented gals are a rare breed indeed. I have 77 acts now with only these 8 having prominent female leads so HATS OFF to you ladies gettin' in here and stickin' it to the MAN...lol So MOM's everywhere, rejoice that you are amazing at anything you do and don't ever let a man belittle you or treat you badly. Please "don't love a Monster like Lauren Dair". Cant help who you love but you can get help out of that relationship. Any man who treats a woman this way has no concept of love or the value of life and can never make you happy! Please, tell a family member, the police, a friend. Call the battered woman's abuse centers, they will get you help before its too late and you cant call anyone! We love our MOMs and all the women everywhere. Please respect them and they will respect you back. After all it takes 2 to love and make a happy life and love for Mom and the children (whether kids or adults). Well everybody..Nashville was an eye opening and jaw dropping experience. Made some great connects and had some mishaps along the way that have sent my future plans into unknown territory. I've started a movement and made some real headway on the formation of Halshack Records. Only problem is I have no clear concise picture as to where to go next. As my life and label have no real direction right now...lol I'm kind of now in "no man's land" in between the nexus of something good and something stellar or legendary even. The sheer potential of TOP 10 hit bands and artists under my wing is enough to give anyone a swift kick in the head that what I'm about to undertake is monumental and overwhelming at the same time. Looking for investors and partners to make Halshack Records a reality for so many struggling and starving fantastic worthy of stardom indie artists.So have fun as I take you on my journey to "Nowhereville" along the way you will find us feeling up for the cause of it then already gone and moving forward with our plans to conquer the music world! From being on the up to going for high places and screaming out echoes about all our bands. It came down to this current state folks as Ive had a breakdown in Nashville of friendships but I will never give up on my artists or you the fan and find the easy way out. The music fills my spirit up and every face that I meet that doesn't feel the love for good indie music is a faraway place from you the listener. We're on an elevator moving up with the movement that began with one to aspire to new heights, so finally the world would be in our reach where other podcasts are just not there with us on that level. Nashville tried my patience and tried to curb my enthusiasm as well but it only made me grow in lots of ways, made new contacts, gained a new audience and opened my show up to regional support from the entire southeast. (Music-only) one-hour special of the best tracks from this awesome eclectic synth pop act. its part of my "SHACKSTARS" series. Be sure to check out other "Shackstars" episodes. These guys have been with me since the shack opened up its little doors and windows and let all these tunes out to the world. They are absolutely the best damn alt/pop band anywhere working today!!! Ive heard BORNS, Walk the Moon, Passion Pit, Young the Giant, Foster the People and any other well known alt band out there today in a similar fashion.These BIG LABEL bands and others in a similar vein can't EVEN begin to touch the writing prowess of Jonathan Hoonch Kim and the creative blending of the synth laden keys of Gabriel Nava Rodriguez. This band has been quietly in development for years and are now ready to storm your earwax and give your brain an orgasm..lol HIT HIT HIT band, nothing but potential hits one after the other from this very polished, very skilled group of musicians from Cali.Walla officially started in 2012 with the release of their first EP which included "Animal of Love" and "Rising Tide". From that success they would push on to release 2 more successful ep's as their sound grew and matured into "Nature" ep and then went for more indie type direction with "Gangsters of Suburbia" hitting the digital landscape by 2015.After that, Walla began to work on cultivating that sound into something more.....Here come problems within the band and creative differences began to manifest within the core 5 members. Soon, that would lead to the demise of Walla after much publicity on the web and thru digital services like Spotify and Soundcloud. Walla had built a name for themselves and was looking at possible record deal from Mountain Dew owned "Greenlight Records". The boys had built one heck of a reputation in SoCal and were headed skyward before creative differences got the best of the group and it all came to a screeching halt.Circa 2017, from the ashes of the former act rises a new kind of "Walla". Their name is HOONCH, taken after the middle name of the lead and consisting of the main 2 creative forces that made Walla so great (Kim and Rodriguez) This band means absolute freakin' hardcore business!! If you thought Walla was good, Hoonch takes Walla and exponentially improves on their formula to bring you the absolute best most catchy, hooky, fun alt pop gold this side of ..hmmmm..well the planet actually. No joke! Ive scoured the globe. Ive listened to to all the bands like this that are known and popular from years past to present day and you cannot and will not throw a name at me of band from this style and say its better. I have always and will continue to always call this band the "Cali Pop Kings" cause until the labels or YOU the listener or fans can prove me wrong otherwise. There's not a group out there right now with more character of hit potential than what these guys have to offer. Mainstream pop GOLD and millions of fans across the world is just the tip of this acts potential. See for yourself. I don't have to sell them. The music sells itself but I just love them a whole lot. These are "my boys" and you will be impressed at the sheer amount of radio hits this band has under their belt and tucked away hidden in their library. A new phase in life is here and a BIG move is in store sometime in the near future as I take my show and bands to music row in Nashville to open up the shack to the world of business. HALSHACK RECORDS baby!! I'm looking at possibly setting up shop in Tennessee so this is a clandestine venture for yours truly. Scary thoughts, new city, so far away from friends and family but big dreams ahead as me and the gang (Halshack gang that is) reign down a music storm on Nashville of the best mix of rock, pop, alt and americana you will find anywhere on the planet of present day artists.As you can imagine I have been very restless of late. Cant sleep, cant eat well, vivid dreams when I do sleep and wide eyed daydreamin' of beautiful girls and the bright lights of Nashville. Hoping to find that cool place I can call Fletcher Bay (reference to ep 13 song from UK artist Harry Pane). So as I reconcile memories of home and past loves to thoughts about a future in the professional music industry with a chance to change the world through music, I press on with guile and determination to succeed. We all have delusions of grandeur but when we have so many quality songs and artists its hard not to see the grand scheme behind all these big dreams, thoughts, memories, and my electric beautiful life that lies ahead of me on this road of stereo dreams. My journey started 20 years ago with a "little" but mighty band from Denver, Co. (ON SECOND THOUGHT) lead singer my buddy and friend Damon. I found love through the music of this wonderful beloved band from high in the rockies.They forever changed my life. A few years later the original act disbanded and the singer and current drummer at the time co-founded a newer tighter well produced and carefully skilled version of this band and together they formed the clandestine SAVAGE HENRY. Taken after the poetic and yet disturbed writings and teachings of Hunter S. Thompson (FEAR and LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS) Damon cautiously and painstakingly writes the most catchy hooky songs and Stu Miller blends his magical axe laden skills into a fun delve into deep provocative thought yet adds a layer of fun to their arrangements that just cant be found anywhere in today's music. This band was the ultimate kick-starter for me and my career. This act has allowed me to build a solid reputation to build my name and earn much respect along the way. Savage Henry and On second Thought will be forever immortalized here at the Halshack. One day when I become a record label then maybe the whole world can enjoy this band as I have for the past 20 years.....I put together a best of playlist from both of their cd releases "ALL IN" and "STEP LIVELY" (you will notice a subtle shift from ska to more rock with the 2nd album, still great!!)but did not include Alive and Kickin' from All In since it was just played at the end of Verbal Actions (Mar 2019).So as I look back at my life and reflect on my roots and looking at starting over again with new beginnings.
