Ep 257Breaking down the Budenholzer extension and reviewing the 2021-22 Milwaukee Bucks roster
Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer has been a lightning rod for criticism for most of his tenure in Milwaukee, but he led the Bucks to a championship and was rewarded with a three-year contract extension last week. Adam McGee and Ti Windisch broke down Bud's tenure, the narratives around him, and why keeping him was a no-brainer -- and also why three years made the most sense for Budenholzer in particular. Then they examined the Bucks roster, especially the differences between this group and the one that just won a championship, and shared thoughts on what, if any, needs Milwaukee still has heading into the season. They added a bit about the Los Angeles Lakers and the Western Conference at the end as Rajon Rondo reportedly decided to sign with the Lakers during the pod.Get the earliest heads up on ALL GSPN content, including podcasts, YouTube videos, and even new written articles on the GSPN Substack! Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti of the Gyro Step podcast sat down to give their updated thoughts on PJ Tucker signing with the Miami Heat with more context on the circumstances of the deal, and then they covered all three signings in chronological order, before finishing by going over potential moves Milwaukee could still make. The Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, subscribe today! Ep 248Reacting LIVE to the Bucks signing Bobby Portis, losing PJ Tucker, and more on opening night of NBA free agency
The Milwaukee Bucks had immaculate vibes going to open NBA free agency after getting Bobby Portis to sign for even less than the taxpayer mid-level exception, but those vanished when PJ Tucker left for the Miami Heat on a similarly smaller-than-expected deal. The whole Gyro Step Podcast Network crew was live on YouTube for FOUR HOURS discussing everything that happened -- this is part two, covering from the Portis signing on through a very weird ending post-Tucker news. The Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, including this four hour extravaganza, subscribe today! NBA free agency opens Monday at 5 pm Central time, and the Milwaukee Bucks have some big decisions to make with a lot of their roster outside of the big three. Adam McGee, Rohan Katti, and Ti Windisch sat down to first go over the Bucks situation with their own free agents and what tools they have at their disposal, followed by a wide look around the free agent pool to discuss and evaluate all sorts of options. That includes weighing up whether the Bucks' process and decisions were right on the night, going deep on Sandro Mamukelashvili's game and fit with Milwaukee, considering how Sandman and Georgios Kalaitzakas may land on the roster, discussing Summer League pickups, and taking a whistle stop tour around the NBA for the rest of the draft night business.Win in 6 Podcast is now proudly a part of Blue Wire Podcasts' Gyro Step Podcast Network, which will be the exclusive home for all of our future episodes. The Gyro Step Podcast Network is proud to call Blue Wire's network of podcasts home. Ep 245The Bucks have an anticlimactic 2021 NBA Draft after trading down and out of the 31st overall pick
So much for all the talk about exciting young prospects or proven veterans the Milwaukee Bucks could secure with the first pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, as early on in the draft Milwaukee sent the pick to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for picks 54, 60, and two future second rounders. Win in 6 host Jordan Treske and Gyro Step hosts Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch sat down right after the Bucks used the last pick in the draft to discuss the trade, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Georgios Kalaitzakis, and other news around the NBA. including the Los Angeles Lakers' dramatic trade for Russell Westbrook. The Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, subscribe today! Ep 244A post-championship discussion of Giannis and the Bucks with Mirin Fader | Gyro Step
Who could be better to talk about what this NBA championship means for Giannis Antetokounmpo than the person who literally wrote the book on him? That's right, Mirin Fader, author of Giannis: The Improbable Rise of an NBA MVP and all-around incredible person and writer, joined Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch on the Gyro Step podcast to discuss what it felt like to watch Giannis reach the mountaintop, which other Buck would make for a good book subject, some of the excerpts of the book that have already blown up, and what it was like to write the Giannis book during a pandemic on a tight timetable.PRE-ORDER MIRIN'S BOOK NOW GO GO GOThe Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, subscribe today! Ep 243Drafting better US Olympics basketball teams plus an update on the Bucks playing in Tokyo
While watching the Olympics to keep track of the three Milwaukee Bucks players taking part in the games, Ti Windisch, Rohan Katti, and Adam McGee couldn't help but notice the flaws within the team construction of the USA team that lost its first group play match against France on Sunday morning. The three Gyro Step Podcast Network hosts thus tried their hand at putting together better rosters, and would love to know who listeners think did the best job! Ep 240WON IN 6: Giannis drops 50 to end the Bucks 50 year championship drought
ETHE MILWAUKEE BUCKS ARE NBA CHAMPIONS. Giannis Antetokounmpo had himself up another historic night to cap off his incredible postseason, putting himself on a GOAT trajectory, and after 50 years of coming up short the Milwaukee Bucks are the best team in the league. Ti Windisch, Rohan Katti, Jordan Treske, and Adam McGee all sat down right after the game to expound on what this means for the players -- Giannis, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez, PJ Tucker, Pat Connaughton, and Bobby Portis -- and coaches involved, and to them as well. Ep 239Tackling questions about the NBA Finals, current, former, and future Bucks, and more in the Gyro Step mailbag
The Milwaukee Bucks have a chance to clinch an NBA championship for the first time in 50 years on Tuesday, so naturally Bucks excitement is rampant both among fans and podcasters. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti of the Gyro Step opened up the mailbag on Sunday night to tackle questions on listeners' minds and got some great ones about the Finals, especially with regard to the Bucks rotation and defensive coverages, the offseason, some fun and weird ones, plus some legacy questions. Ep 238The Bucks are one win away from an NBA championship after an all-hands-on-deck win in Phoenix
EJrue Holiday shined especially bright, and his lob to Giannis Antetokounmpo to essentially seal the Milwaukee Bucks victory to take a 3-2 series lead in the NBA Finals on the road was the moment of the night, but the story of the Game 5 win against the Phoenix Suns features nearly everybody who played, and the coach who led them. It was an incredible night for the Bucks, who yet again found a way to win even with chips stacked against them. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti of the Gyro Step and Adam McGee of the Win in 6 podcast sat down after the game for a two hour romp through the players, key points, and coaches involved in Milwaukee's closest encounter with a title in 50 years. Ep 236Against all odds Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo will the Milwaukee Bucks to a Game 4 victory
EThe Milwaukee Bucks just didn't have it for most of Game 4, although Khris Middleton was playing well and they never let the Phoenix Suns build a big lead. Then, after a controversial and terrible no-call on Devin Booker that should've seen him foul out of the game, it was like a powder keg was lit. Khris poured in 10 straight points to clinch the win, and Giannis added the exclamation point in the form of one of the best two Finals blocks of all time. Game 4 of the 2021 NBA Finals was really the story of the Bucks all postseason: not pretty, not how anyone drew it up, but good enough to win. Two more games like this and the Bucks are NBA champions. Adam McGee and Jordan Treske of Win in 6 and Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch of Gyro Step sat down in a GSPN post-game pod to try and make sense of it all.The Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, subscribe today! Ep 235Analyzing the first three games of the 2021 NBA Finals with Jackson Frank | Gyro Step
The Milwaukee Bucks are down 2-1 to the Phoenix Suns through three games in the 2021 NBA Finals, and there's a ton to talk about based on what's transpired so far. Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch welcomed Jackson Frank, writer at great sites all over the NBA internet and host of The House That Hinkie Built podcast, to discuss the growth we've seen from Giannis Antetokounmpo this series, the defensive adjustments made by Milwaukee, the real story of Mike Budenholzer this series, and Brook Lopez's role going forward. Ep 234Giannis makes (more) NBA Finals history as the Bucks win Game 3 in Milwaukee
In large part thanks to another legendary performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks take a pivotal Game 3 against the Phoenix Suns and ensure they will not get swept from the 2021 NBA Finals. The Bucks are another home win away from evening up the series, and Ti Windisch, Rohan Katti, and Adam McGee feel pretty good overall about how things have gone. The trio discusses Giannis' performance in depth and what it means for him and the Bucks, giggle about the company he's put himself in, and then dive into individual aspects of Game 3, including the pros and cons of Jrue Holiday's big game, coaching oddities on both sides, and how the Bucks can get better by Game 4.The Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, subscribe today! Ep 232Despite Giannis' finest NBA moment thus far the Bucks blow Game 2 in Phoenix
EGiannis Antetokounmpo was immaculate in Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns, nearly single-handedly willing the Milwaukee Bucks to victory in an NBA Finals game. Unfortunately he got virtually no help from Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton and the Bucks fell again. Rohan Katti, Adam McGee, and Ti Windisch ranted about Milwaukee's obvious deficiencies, praised most of coach Mike Budenholzer's gameplan outside of wanting more Brook Lopez minutes, and dished on what this result, and being down 0-2, means for the rest of the series. The Gyro Step Podcast Network is on YouTube for occasional live video content and other projects, subscribe today! Ep 231The Bucks drop a frustratingly winnable Game 1 in Phoenix to open the 2021 NBA Finals
The Milwaukee Bucks did not play all that well in Game 1 of the 2021 NBA Finals, which makes it all the more frustrating that they found themselves down single digits in the fourth quarter on the road against the Phoenix Suns but couldn't capitalize and ended up losing. The full Gyro Step Podcast Network crew -- Ti Windisch, Rohan Katti, Adam McGee, and Jordan Treske -- sat down after the game to discuss Giannis Antetokounmpo's return to action, positives from the loss and what drove them crazy, and to argue about semantics. After everything that has happened to this franchise throughout the last 47 years, the Milwaukee Bucks are finally back in the NBA Finals. Ep 227The Brook Lopez legacy game, along with strong play from every other Bucks starter, leads to a huge Game 5 win without Giannis
Going into Game 5 there was a lot of talk of how important Khris Middleton would be to the Milwaukee Bucks, and how much this game could impact his legacy. Khris was great, but Brook Lopez is the one who had a legacy-defining game in the Bucks victory, both in terms of his Bucks tenure and his career as a whole. Adam McGee, Jordan Treske, Rohan Katti, and Ti Windisch sat down after Brook's record night to talk about his literally huge performance, how Bobby Portis also came up massive in his first career playoff start, the great work done by Khris and Jrue Holiday, the steady hand of PJ Tucker, the lack of playable players left on the bench, Giannis Antetokounmpo's status for the series, and expectations for Game 6 in Atlanta. Ep 226BEST POSSIBLE NEWS: Giannis avoids a major knee injury and could play again in the playoffs! | Gyro Step
In the latest upswing on what has been a wild roller coaster for the Milwaukee Bucks in these 2021 NBA Playoffs, the Bucks announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo did not sustain any structural damage to his knee and went as far as ruling him doubtful -- meaning there's a chance he plays -- for Game 5 against the Atlanta Hawks. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti don't expect to see Giannis quite that quickly, and started the podcast expecting him to at least miss the entirety of the Atlanta series before more news broke, but suddenly they went from simply happy Giannis would not miss any time next season to giddy at the thought of him being able to return by the start of the NBA Finals. The bottom line is thank goodness this was not a devastating injury, Giannis is truly a Greek God, and this is the best possible news after how awful things seemed last night. Ep 225Giannis leaves with a frightening knee injury as the Bucks fall in Atlanta
EGiannis Antetokounmpo left Game 4 with a knee injury that is currently being called a hyperextension, although the full diagnosis is not yet available, and nothing else seems to matter in the world of the Milwaukee Bucks right now. Rohan Katti, Jordan Treske, and Ti Windisch sat down after Milwaukee's disheartening loss to the Atlanta Hawks, who evened up the series on Tuesday night, to discuss their reactions on Giannis' injury, the team's chances from here and what the rotation looks like without Giannis and Donte DiVincenzo, and how down bad they are.Additionally, Rohan, Jordan, and Ti condemned a xenophobic TNT segment shared and deleted on social media earlier that day that essentially mocked the spelling and pronunciation of Antetokounmpo. Be better, anyone who thinks mocking someone's name is anything but disrespectful and tasteless. The Gyro Step Podcast Network is proud to call Blue Wire's network of podcasts home. Ep 224Khris Middleton outscores the Hawks in the fourth as the Bucks win Game 3 in Atlanta
The Milwaukee Bucks had a nightmarish start to Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Atlanta, but as they have done all postseason the Bucks kept fighting to keep themselves in the game and give themselves a chance to win. Giannis Antetokounmpo was brilliant throughout and Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton both shined, but Khris Middleton was the hero of Game 3, outscoring the Hawks by himself in the fourth quarter to put the series firmly in Milwaukee's hands. Rohan Katti, Ti Windisch, and Adam McGee broke down the game, and argued about Bobby Portis and whether Pat Connaughton's jersey should be retired if the Bucks win the title, on this latest Gyro Step Podcast Network crossover episode. Ep 223Giannis and the Bucks bounce back and seemingly solve the Hawks in a dominant Game 2 win
The Milwaukee Bucks needed a strong showing on Friday night after dropping Game 1 against the Atlanta Hawks at home, and goodness did they did it. Giannis Antetokounmpo set the tone from the beginning and led the way in an absolute romp of Atlanta that saw Milwaukee dominate on both ends of the floor and turn the entire fourth quarter into garbage time. Adam McGee, Rohan Katti, and Ti Windisch sat down after the meaningful part of the game ended to discuss the changes Milwaukee implemented that caused the dramatic shift and the players that showed out in the win, whether this will play out like the Bucks' 2019 series against the Boston Celtics, and if this is Mike Budenholzer's finest postseason coaching performance.
