Smart meters were supposed to make using energy easier. Customers could track in real time how much they were spending, and those pesky estimated bills were to be a thing of the past. And while they no doubt have many benefits when they work, government data shows that millions of people across the UK have an issue with their smart meter - and an unknown number have an in-home display that isn’t working.
