Tim and Max Solve All The Problems With Popular Culture: Episode 1 - Fear of Change

E

Tim and Max Solve All The Problems With Popular Culture is the newest podcast in the stable of winged horses that is the Geek Syndicate Network. The podcast aims to do exactly what it says on the tin - young bucks Tim Swann and Max Barnard identify a key area where popular geek culture falls down and then try and come up with some ways that both the creators and the audience can fix it. In our first episode, we discuss fear of change, and how both the audience, the creators and their bosses all fall foul of this fear. In the course, we discuss the New 52 (because you haven't had enough of that yet!), panel shows, the joy of Star Trek XI and The Clone Wars TV Series, and why changing to include basic human decency might help everyone out.

Mad, bad and dangerous to know Tom and the unused Harry Sullivan The Wet Vet and the TARDIS kindergarden Saving the joys of Colin Baker and subsequent Doctors for the second installment. Caught up in an orcstasy of hobbit-love, the Scrolls team talked so long into the night that an entire section of Chapter 8 had to be cut for fear of Melting Your Brains. Scrolls Chapter 15: Gods 'n' Sods

E

In which we step tentatively into the ethereal realm to mull over the function of religion in fictional worlds and how it can mirror our own. Along the way we poke a few holes in the fabric of reality, prod a few demons and deities with sticks to see what thet're made of, make wild and ill-conceived generalisations about how religions begin and, well, generally invite the wrath of the most powerful beings in the universe. Actually, thinking about it we've already had their wrath reteroactively. Clover is missing for the first bit due to unholy technical difficulties, but there's plenty of waffle(s) to go around.
