This is the recording from our coverage of the 420 event out at Pouring Glory this past April (Ya, we know...). We got a quick interview with Denver Williams, Justin Cashion, and Richard Keller. These three local musicians provided us with entertainment while people shopped the vendor booths, enjoyed the award winning food, and sipped on craft beer. Thank you, my friend.In this episode we talk about several organizations in the Fort Worth area that deal with foster families, child services, and adoption services. Our first recording is with Judy Fraustro. Judy aged out of the foster care system at 18 when she came home one evening and all of here belongings had been set outside by her foster family. Since then she has married and moved on with her life helping people along the way. Her and her husband who she met shortly after being abandoned by her foster family now have children of their own and are extremely active in our community's child and youth services. Judy currently works with Unfaulted, Casa of Tarrant County, Hope Local, and The Gladney Center. (Links below)Our second recording is with Jim and Chelsea Reidland, the founders of the local outreach "Hope Local". Their mission is to help local families involved in foster care and adoption by sourcing local Churches in our community for resources and support. Jim and Chelsea have dedicated their lives to helping solve the massive deficit in support that foster families often face.Lori Strittmatter and her husband began their journey as foster parents in the early 90's. They have since adopted and continue to foster infants in their home through The Gladney Center. Lori tells the story of the "Orphan Train" and the roll that Fort Worth played in the past as the "Last Stop" on the train that delivered orphans from New York all the way to Texas. Child Advocacy Supervisor Jaime Hernandez joined the CASA of Tarrant County team when he realized he could make a bigger impact than with other organizations. This 25-year Airforce Veteran has been in the business of caring for others for a very long time. Today, Jaime has a message for our neighbors here in Tarrant County. "WE NEED YOUR HELP". Last year 663 children were removed from their homes in our county which carries the title of third highest in number of abuse cases in the state of Texas. All is not lost! Jaime is here to tell us how we can help and what organizations like CASA are doing to make a difference. Jaime, thank you for recording with us.
