Need ideas on project management strategies for your online business? Listen in on how we help today's guests deal with project management to get more work done. Joining us this week are Rebecca and Dan Dekker, an inspiring couplepreneur, who took the calculated leap and succeeded online. Rebecca is a mother, wife and PhD-prepared nurse researcher with years of expertise in reading research, evaluating and then summarizing it. She is also someone who had personally experienced both the wonders and horrors of childbirth. She had joined the Flip Your Life community because she needed the support to push through and succeed online and had been featured on the show early February 2016, where we shared our insight on how to transition from a launch model into a recurring revenue business. She had created evidencebasedbirth.com, a place loaded with tons of unbiased childbirth-related research content that's paired with a supportive membership community, that aims to help educate families before they go into the hospital system. Managing the finances side of the business is her husband, Dan. He has an MBA and uses his expertise to allow Rebecca to focus on creating content and serving her members. They have close to 300 members and are looking into developing a plan to manage their growing community. We're going to share our personal take on how to effectively delegate tasks in order to get more work done as well as dive into "The Open Hand Philosophy." You seriously should not miss this! FL 134 – We help Jacqueline set up an effective marketing strategy to grow her online business

Need ideas for your online marketing strategy? Listen in as we help today's guest with strategies for online marketing to grow her online business. Asking next level questions this week is an educator who truly believes that learning can be a blast, Flip Your Life community member and someone we've met in real life, Jacqueline Cushman. Jacqueline lives a simple and cozy life with Audrey, her lovely 8 year old daughter, in Bloomington, IN. She has a bachelor's & master's degree in journalism and education, with a wonderful day job at the local university. She has been working in the education scene for more than 20 years, exposed to countless programs and resources that only fuels her drive to discover and create more fun ways to teach children. After brainstorming with a friend, she decided to try and make online activity planners available for out-of-school programs and families. She is the proud owner of LessonZest.com, a place where you can find tons of amazing and engaging learning activities. She had officially launched her website in August 2016 and has had a successful kickoff. Fully live and with over 20 members, she wants to keep her community growing and is interested in reaching out to large enterprises that would benefit from her existing content. Join us as we help Jacqueline effectively target her expanding audience, we'll share insight on finding the right VA and how to print course materials. Get ready for some next level flippin'! My family always laugh at me because Bandit, of course, was our "free" dog. He has now cost us probably thousands of dollars. He went from just hanging out around our house like you could see his bones, and he is now receiving a BarkBox subscription every single month. We didn't want him to be lonely. Shane thought it would be a good idea to get Coco, and Coco is actually a purebred chocolate lab, and we got her from a breeder in town. She has been just the most adorable thing ever. My reason for this being a Can't Miss Moment is not only is she adorable and our kids love her - it is like the joy of their life right now - but also because dogs are expensive. I don't know if we could have afforded dogs before. We have spent so much money on vets and doctors and dog houses, and kennels and cages and toys. I'm not exactly sure if we could have even gotten those, especially a bred dog like this that cost a few hundred dollars ourself. You can connect with S&J on social media too! So far, we only actually had one snow day here in Kentucky. But when we had that day, it was pretty awesome just to not have to worry about trying to find somebody to watch our kids, or having to take a day off work because the kids were at home. Instead, we were able to stay right here in the house, we didn't have to get out where it was cold and yucky, and it was super, super cold that day. Like, 10°F, something like that. It was nice just to hang out here. We did different things. We did a snow day packet with the kids. It's like work from school. It we were able to work on that with them. FL 131 – We help Kevin choose a direction for his online business

Need help choosing the direction of your online business? Listening in on today's episode might give you ideas as we help our guest navigate through his business and get a clearer direction for it. Joining us on air this week is FYL community member, Kevin DeWit. Kevin is a father who has always been fascinated with music, so fascinated that he had learned and developed his music mostly by himself. He became the family's sole provider after losing his wife to cancer and has since been raising his wonderful kids on his own. He has 2 children, a son with autism and a daughter, diagnosed with Asperger's. Time constraints and other demands from working full-time as a Network Engineer are slowly burning him out, so his goal is to make it online and get the freedom to be there for his kids. He created KdWMixingMastering.com, where he offers mixing, mastering and audio restoration services to people (mostly artists) who need help in achieving that professional sound. His music-oriented business has a lot of room to grow, but the frustration from its current lack of stability has led him to consider shifting skill sets. He has the IT know-how that may earn him his family's needed income online, although he isn't exactly as passionate about it as he is with music. Torn between two skills and pressed for time, we're going to help Kevin weigh in his options and explore the possibilities of scaling his online business. Everyone in the business has gone through this phase where they are presented with a fork in the road. Everybody has to decide at some point, and sometimes all it takes is a little push in the right direction. Tune in and learn how today's episode can help you navigate through yours. Don't miss it! Can't Miss Moment: Today's can't miss moment is clearing off our schedule and taking our kids to the doctor. The past couple of days, the kids have not been feeling really well, and we were waiting around to see if we really needed to take them to the doctor. Today was the day that we thought we needed to do that. Sometimes it's kind of hard because we did have a couple of podcasts that we needed to record today, and we had to move those around and we don't like to do that. But it is so nice doing what we do now to actually have the flexibility to do that. We don't have to find somebody to fill in for us, we don't have to ask a boss or anything like that. We can just say, "Hey, I'm very sorry, we need to reschedule." Our community members are so awesome. They are totally understanding of that. You can connect with S&J on social media too! We bring on real people who run real businesses online, and we help them take their business to the next level. These are actual members of our Flip Your Life community, and we are super excited today to have Diane Campbell on the show. Diane,

She has demonstrated her aptitude as an educator in multiple conferences and other music education events. She later worked for an international music software company, where she learned and understood technological aspects in a deeper sense. That was Katie's first real experience into using technology on a daily basis. After her employment with that company, she saw the growing demand for someone of her expertise online. In 2016, she decided to create a platform where she can share her valuable skill set to enable and educate teachers on how to incorporate software -- like Sibelius, GarageBand, Audacity and a whole lot more -- into their music curriculum. Midnight Music, gave her the flexibility to raise her family, as well as engage her strong, active membership community with over 300 members. We're also so thankful that we can now make appointments for things we need whenever we want. When we used to work at school, we had to find a substitute for our class, we had to leave early. Some days, we would just have to take a day off. We live in a really small town, and there aren't really a lot of specialists near us. FL 126 – We help Sally set up her sales funnel to target & segment her audience

**Before anything else, we would like to apologize for the relatively low audio quality of this week's episode. Although technical issues do happen sometimes, it's still going to be the same fun, information-packed online business podcast channel y'all enjoy and love.** Need ideas on setting up your sales funnel to target & segment your audience? Listen in as we help today's guest narrow down her target avatars and segment them to maximize her online business. Joining us on air is a Certified Tour Professional, currently serving her second term as a Board Member of the U.S. Travel's Experience Network (previously known as the Attractions Council), we have Flip Your Life community member, Sally Berry. Sally has been in the tourism industry since her college years. She has worked for small attractions, dealt with family-owned attractions, and has been working for a world-class museum for over six years. Her extensive knowledge of where to go, who to see and what to do while traveling has led to her receiving multiple prestigious awards -- national recognition for her networking and national awards for her knowledge. She is so well known in their community, that she would regularly receive calls from small destinations as well as the local tourism commissions. Wanting to do something new, she explored the possibilities online and found that it had huge opportunities for growth and monetization. She joined the FYL community, studied the courses and in a few months was able to create theattractionscoach.com. With the website in its infant stages, there is a lot to be done. Just a good 15-20 minute drive, we've got the radio off, and we are just talking to each other about what we are going to do that day, sharing ideas that we have to grow our online business. Maybe we'll run out and try to catch the sunrise over one of the hills here in our little town in Kentucky. It's just been a really neat thing to be able to stop and smell the roses, I guess, and not have to be in such a rush to get somewhere. I can remember how hectic mornings were when we worked our normal day jobs. We could barely even see each other. Celebrating the New Year with a Success Story! Hey y'all! We wanted to start 2017 with a shout out to all our members, fans, listeners… all of you who have supported us through thick and thin, Happy New Year! Our first episode is an amazing success story from one of our FYL community members, Marnie Ginsberg, Ph. D. Marnie lives with her husband and 3 wonderful daughters in Madison, WI. She has been deeply involved with educational research and has been a teacher for about 20 years; her research focused on strategies to nurture readers and help them overcome learning hurdles. She also became a private tutor and consultant. This brought in promising results from students who struggled in reading and comprehension. Mrs. Ginsberg had long been intrigued by the online business scene. She has been building her blog and email list since 2015 and by October 2016, she had managed to reach a thousand subscribers. She then co-founded the Reading Simplified Academy and was successful in her recent membership launch. Join us as we talk about Marnie's amazing journey. FL 123 – Why we HATE the affiliate launch model: & how we keep our brand ad, affiliate, and guru-free

Yes, we said it. And we'll tell you exactly why we are not a big fan of affliates. We are going to tackle a topic that has been on our mind (and to be honest, getting on our nerves) for a while now: Affiliate Launches. SO many online marketers jump on the affiliate launch bandwagon. You know the drill. A guru has a new product, book or course. Offers a great "opportunity" for other people online to sell it to their list...for a sweet commission of course. And BOOM, inboxes around the world explode with message after message after message about this life-changing widget. Sigh. Affiliate launches kind of drive us crazy, not just because of the endless spamming, but because of the missed opportunities! What would happen if all of those affiliates focused on building their own brands, instead of someone else's? We get offered to join affiliate launches all the time. We have always said no. Today we tell you why. On today's podcast, we are going to share our personal take and insight on why we want to keep our brand ad, affiliate and guru-free. We will also reveal our big surprise for the incoming year, future plans for our premium community and other good stuff y'all are going to find useful in your online business journey. Also, we want you to know that we are over-the-roof from all the success stories that we've received from our listeners, fans and members throughout the year. We are very proud of what you have accomplished and are excited for even greater successes to come! It has truly been an amazing and eventful year here at the Flipped Lifestyle, so we would like to thank every single one of you for your trust and continued support. They stayed under there for like an hour. They brought every toy from their room down. Saturday mornings are just such a different place in our household than they were a few years ago. FL 119 – We help Kyle identify the best lead magnet for his service-based coaching business

Need ideas for a service-based online business lead magnet? Listen in as we discuss target avatars and lead magnets with today's guest to help him grow his online business. On today's podcast, we have Flip Your Life community member, Kyle Wick. Born in Canada, he later moved to Washington where he grew up in a small farm. He was able to attend college, but realized he needed to take a different route and follow his own path. By the time he reached 33, he had already done 30 different jobs but he didn't feel it was the right fit. After a family tragedy in 2008, he finally decided to start his own company, because working for someone else was never his ticket. He founded a window cleaning company called A Touch of Glass Inc. Now with over 20 years of experience, Kyle's company has grown significantly and has since been living the lifestyle he has always wanted. Kyle wants to reach out to a larger audience and coach other service-based business owners, but needs help in getting this venture started in the right direction, so we're going to break ground by discussing target avatars and lead magnets -- among other things. Don't miss this episode, 'cause it just might be what you need to flip YOUR online business to the next level. Links and resources mentioned in today's show: Flip Your Life Community Kyle Wick's Business James Schramko Can't Miss Moment It's kind of a simple one, it's just hanging out with the kids after school. We get to pick the kids up every day at around 3 o'clock, we actually structure our day during the school year to where we do not work after 3 o'clock, so when the kids get home from school, we can be with them. And so we do that but we've done a lot of cool things after school lately. Just playing in the backyard yesterday for about an hour, me and Isaac just ran around with swords, fighting imaginary zombies. Isaac would climb up on their playset, where I would try to climb up and get him like I was the zombie and he would zap me and turn me back into a human. Isaac said, "I really liked playing that game with you today, Daddy!" would have been a missed opportunity if we were still working a nine-to-five. And the other day, Anna Joe came home and she – every day she comes home and says, "Play a board game with me." She loves playing board games. So it's just kind of a fun thing to climb up the – into her closet and pick out the board game. And that we sat outside all afternoon a couple of days ago and just built dominoes. We just built little tracks, we would knock them down and watch them all fall. It was just a lot of fun, just playing after school with the kids. You can connect with S&J on social media too! FL 110 – Our Quit-iversary Special: 3 Years of Living The Flipped Lifestyle

Our journey wasn't the easiest one. The road we took to get to where we are now wasn't paved with just rainbows and sunshine. We did not rely on luck, there was no Magic Pill and we didn't have a "parachute" to bail us out if we failed… we are just simple folks who wanted to have more time to spend with our kids and live our lives to the fullest. It has now been 3 years since we left our regular nine-to-five jobs to become full-time online entrepreneurs, be our own boss for a change and have that freedom. We learned so much and we keep learning as we go through our daily responsibilities. You know what? Life has been so much more rewarding. All the risks we took and sacrifices we made eventually paid off. Sure, it gets difficult at times, but it's also such a gratifying experience to reach out and help so many people. We also get to enjoy our time with the kids, be there for them when they need us the most, it's how we knew that this was the right fit for us. We were stumbling across this and thought it was absolutely hilarious what I wrote to her on Valentine's day in 2001. I wanted to read it to you on air just so you guys can get a laugh with us. So, I've drawn a picture of a bee on the front and it said, "Will you bee my Valentine?" This is straight up handwritten - hand drawn kind of old school card and the inside of it said, "Someday I will have lots of money to buy you really neat gifts and even a real card. But right now, I am so poor that I have to be creative. I hope you like your Valentine's day card. I love you, Shane." So, we thought it was so funny, looking back. We were so broke back in the day." FL 100 – Pat Flynn joins us to celebrate our 100th episode!

We've officially reached the 100th episode for the Flipped Lifestyle podcast! Before we get started, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their dedication to take action. We've been around for almost 2 years now and it's such an honor how we've all grown as a community. Thank you for all the support and most especially the iTunes reviews. The reviews help secure our rankings and in turn help us reach more aspiring online entrepreneurs. So, if we have impacted your life in anyway and you haven't written us a review yet, please do so because we would absolutely love to receive one from you! We have a special episode for all of our avid listeners this week. As some of you know, we usually get a member on air for a free consulting call to help them take their business to the next level and then let you guys listen in, but this time it's going to be a bit different. Our guest this week is our very good friend and mentor, the crash test dummy of online business, Pat Flynn. Pat has been in the online business scene since 2008. He used to be an architect, until the industry took an economic downturn. Always the optimist, Pat took charge, launched himself in a catapult and began a new life-changing journey. His website smartpassiveincome.com and the Smart Passive Income podcast has touched the lives of thousands of people in an international level. His mindset along with the choices he made has created an amazing ripple effect. Despite all that fame and fortune, Pat firmly believes that the best part about his job is the amount of quality time he gets to spend with his wife and kids -- now, that's a true family man. We have so many things in common with him and we are just thrilled to share our backstory with y'all, like how Shane came across a random podcast one day (while mowing the lawn!) and was just struck with immediate certainty that this is what we needed to flip our lives upside-down. Also, we're gonna talk about family, life and lessons we've learned along the way. So, hold onto your seats and let's get this show on the road. [Tweet "The moment you feel comfortable with something, something can change."] [Tweet "We don't have 24 hours, there's transition time and non-negotiables. You have to be vigilant, either work around it or fall behind."] [Tweet "My kids are my motivation to be productive. When I waste time on irrelevant things, I take away the time meant for my children."] You will learn: What it is like to raise a family while doing online business How to manage your kids while doing online business Insights on education for your children as an online entrepreneur parent Inspiring ripple effect stories of doing online business The importance of taking roles in the family and setting expectations. [Tweet "A business is successful when it solves problems."] [Tweet "When I drop him off to school I ask him, "Hey Bud! How do you change the world?" and he goes, "By helping!" FL 90 – We Help Elizabeth Take Her Caregiver Membership Site to the Next Level

Don't be timid with your message - there are people that need your expertise. This week we are talking with Elizabeth who speaks about the 'sandwich generation' which today is 45% of 35-55 year olds who are caring for their own children and a parent that has chronic health issues. Feeling overwhelmed and stressed with the load of taking care of her mother and children she went searching online for a community or books with resources of how to cope and find balance in her life. She has created an 8 week action plan to help guide other caregivers in finding balance in their lives. We help her find ways to give her members 'quick wins' and automate that content so as soon as she gets a new subscriber they are receiving the next step. Engagement in your membership is not dictated just by the forum as there will be members who will be satisfied with the content you are providing and being a part of your online community. Be aware with incentives that with the more things you expect your audience to do for example share it on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. the better the prize/reward needs to be. Each week we bring a member of our flip your life community onto the podcast, today's guest is Shey Harms. Since 2012 she has started several online businesses and podcasts, however, she recently decided to follow her passion which is life on the lake. She hopes to scale it into a lake lovers community focusing on the best lakes in all 50 states. After helping Shey narrow down her target audience in our Flip Your Life forums, we help answer her two main problems: getting email addresses and content delivery.
