He had body-wide pain from some old back injuries, and he was always tired, so much so that he would find himself falling asleep driving on the highway and only waking up when he'd hit the bumps on the side of the road. To combat the pain and exhaustion, he was taking tons of Advil and drinking 14 cups of coffee a day, which led to constant and relentless stomach pain. It got so bad until he got to the point where he felt like he was going to die if he didn’t make some changes. Then he found the Fit Father Project, had the wherewithal to follow through with it, and the rest is history! Within 30 days, Dan was feeling phenomenally better. And now he's far past that, currently in Phase Three of the program, and his life has drastically improved. He’s cut back on coffee, the pain and inflammation are gone, and he's dramatically improved his energy level. More than that, he has a new mindset of hope and possibilities. There wasn’t any ‘silver bullet’ — he did it all with sensible nutrition, regular exercise, the right mindset, and strong support from his family and community. So, if you’re dealing with aches and pains, or if you think you’re too old or past your prime, you need to listen to this episode. If you have the ability to make a commitment and try something new as Dan did, and you follow through, you're going to see amazing results! In this episode, you’ll learn about: Dan’s history of pain and the various painkillers he took to deal with it.The fears and doubts he had and how he overcame them. How to hone and stick to a proper nutrition routine.Ways to improve your sleep and hydration. The importance of community, support, and accountability. And so much more! So, to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on making a commitment, take some notes, and check out FF30X! Ep 116Water Fasting: My Personal 3-Day Water Fast Protocol
Episode 116 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about water fasting and how it can be so beneficial to your health and wellness. This is a special episode because I will reveal to you my three-day water fasting protocol that I do several times per year.Water fasting delivers profound benefits, from activating your immune system and stem cells to getting rid of cellular garbage, and so much more. Now, if you know anything about the Fit Father Project, you know that intermittent fasting is a regular recommendation. A 24-hour fast is great because it's something you can do every single week. You have dinner one day, then just drink water, coffee, and/or green tea until dinner the next day. You can get even more benefits the longer you fast, but that’s not always easy to do!So, I feel that a three-day fast is a sweet spot between getting maximum benefits without it being a super long and challenging fast. I know what you’re thinking: a three-day water fast sounds crazy. But, people water fast for 7, 10 days, and there’s even a case study of a man who water fasted for an entire year! The point is the body can survive water fasting, and for most people, it’s not detrimental to their health. So, fasting is appropriate for people who want to lose weight or improve their health. However, it is unsafe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or anyone with a history of any eating disorder. Also, people who are on medication to manage diabetes or blood sugar, or if they need to take certain medications with food, should not fast. Ready to learn more about water fasting? Then you’ve got to check out this episode! In this episode, you’ll learn: The massive benefits of water fasting. The science and research behind water fasting. How fasting makes your body more resilient and higher functioning. The dos and don’ts of fasting. My personal three-day water fasting protocol And so much more! So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on water fasting, take some notes, and check out FF30X!What is FF30X?FF30X is a simple, sustainable, and specific weight loss program that is designed especially for busy men over 40. Ep 115Cold Exposure: The Benefits Of Exposing Our Bodies To Cold
Episode 115 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about cold exposure and why we get phenomenal health benefits when we expose our bodies to cold. Our bodies get stronger when we stress them. Exercise is stress to our muscles, tendons, and cardiovascular system, and after we stress, that kicks in the body's adaptation process to repair and grow stronger. One of the most fundamental and primal stresses is temperature. That’s why, every morning after I hydrate, I do a three-minute cold plunge in a cold tub my friend built me out of a big chest freezer. And that’s what I want you to consider — getting yourself a cold plunge or at least taking some cold showers so you can see the health advantages of cold exposure. The first thing that happens when you expose your body to cold is you get a stronger immune system. It has been well documented that the white blood cells that are the champions of our immune system increase in a good, healthy way when exposed to cold. So if you're looking at maximizing your immune strength, you’ve got to listen to this episode. It's not just about nutrition, sleeping, and exercise … cold exposure is one of the best things you can do for a stronger immune system. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg (see what I did there?) regarding the myriad health benefits of cold exposure! In this episode, you’ll learn: The massive benefits of cold exposure. How it improves your body's stress response. How to become more stress resilient. The keys to decreasing inflammation.Improving your physical performance and recovery. And so much more! So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on cold exposure, take some notes, and check out FF30X!What is FF30X?FF30X is a simple, sustainable, and specific weight loss program that is designed especially for busy men over 40. Episode 114 of the Fit Father Project Podcast continues our talk about systems thinking and how to crush your goals, not just this month or next month but well into the future! As we discussed in Part 1, systems thinking is a holistic mindset that interconnects every aspect of your life. You (mind, body, and soul) are a system, as is your family, community, city, state, and country. When we look at ourselves as a series of systems, and understand every part within them, we can make better decisions, stay focused and motivated, and conquer any goal we set.Your body is a dynamic, interconnected system — trillions of cells, gut bacteria, thoughts, emotions, etc., all of it is connected. Ep 112The Keto Diet: What You REALLY Need To Know
Episode 112 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about the keto diet and what you need to know and understand about it.The ketogenic diet is a very low carbohydrate diet, and it’s different from what we recommend in our Fit Father Project meal plans. We don't think it's the most optimal approach for most middle-aged people who want to live healthily and have a sustainable lifestyle over the long haul. All the calories that are in foods come from three main macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The keto diet basically eliminates carbohydrates from the diet, so the calories you're getting come from proteins and fats. The keto diet also doesn’t allow any high-sugar or highly processed foods, so a lot of people end up feeling healthier and lose a lot of weight, so they feel like it's a really good solution. The problem is, and this is my overall diet perspective, is any diet that's restrictive from the get-go is going to cause friction in the long term. And things that cause friction in the long term are going to set you up for derailing your progress. Now, I am all for eating a lower carbohydrate diet, particularly if you're cutting out a lot of bad carbs like processed sugars and grains that don't have much nutritional value. But, the Fit Father Project meal plans intentionally include carbs because of a few key reasons. We discuss those reasons — and so much more — in this episode. It’s time to learn the TRUTH about keto!In this episode, you’ll learn: What the keto diet is and what its goals are.The importance of a healthy, functioning metabolism — and how to achieve it.How to become insulin sensitive and metabolically flexible. The science of intermittent fasting. The importance of sleep and hydration. And so much more! So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on the keto diet, take some notes, and check out FF30X!What is FF30X?FF30X is a simple, sustainable, and specific weight loss program that is designed especially for busy men over 40.
