International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church Sunday, November 5, 2023 @ 10:30 AM Every day, 13 Christians worldwide are killed because of their faith.Every day, 12 churches or Christian buildings are attacked.Every day, 12 Christians are unjustly arrested or imprisoned, and another five are abducted. This is a day we set aside to remember those in prison as if we were there ourselves. And to remember those being mistreated, as if we felt their pain in our own bodies.

In an often rushed and chaotic day-to-day world, how do we practice the spiritual habit of slowing down and embracing the rhythms of life? On Sunday, October 29th we are privileged to have Dr. Derek Voorhees of Boise Bible College with us as our special guest. Derek serves as the president and professor of New Testament. His authenticity and care for God's church will be evident as he challenges us.

Recent news of the war and atrocities in Israel at the hands of a terrorist organization, Hamas, has no doubt evoked some reactions. For some, it is the emotion of FEAR... What does this war mean? What's next? How long will the war last? How much will our country be involved? Will we go to war? For some, it is paralyzing ANXIETY... Is this the beginning of the end? What should I expect next? Is the news telling me everything I need to know? And for some, perhaps it's just ANGER... Angry at the terrorists. Angry at the shape the world is. Angry at the way our government is responding. Angry at the way our government isn't responding. Scripture begs us to consider a different way to think about these events and the end times. Today we take a closer look at the book of Revelation in order to gain a better understanding, a clearer perspective, and ultimately grasp onto the living hope that only Jesus provides.

Special Guest Speaker: Pastor Dwayne DicksonPastor Dwayne is the senior pastor of the First Christian Church in Mountain City, Tennessee and has been for 25 years. He also serves on the board of directors of the Hisportic Christian Mission. Hisportic Christian Mission is a Church-Planting ministry that seeks to multiply Christ-followers among Portuguese-Speaking peoples worldwide. Their ministry model places emphasis on Discipleship, Leadership Training, and Community Churches. Their vision is to build a network of campuses that give all age-groups an opportunity for a Christ-centered education with the goal of training them for Christian and professional service. Currently, they work in the United States, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, Goa (India), and Timor Leste.

On the heels of finishing our verse-by-verse study through the book of Acts, Pastor Daniel shares his story of God’s grace and redemption in his life. Through the end of the book of Acts, over and over again, we have a front-row seat seeing and hearing the Apostle Paul tell his story. In hearing Paul's story we are given a simple process for sharing our story - our testimony - of what we have seen God do in our life. The narrative is almost over. Paul makes his way to Rome, finally! In his final moments on Malta we see followers of Jesus Christ meeting the needs of people that were right in front of them, AND - sharing their stories to whoever will listen. Paul, the crew, and the other passengers are no two weeks into their voyage to Rome and they are in the middle of a severe storm. They've tried everything they can possibly do and now the crew is looking for an opportunity to save their own lives by abandoning the ship and leaving the passengers behind. Difficult of all the reminders in life is this - life isn't easy. It isn't easy for any of us and sometimes that reminder is all too needy for God's followers, most of all. Following Jesus entails difficult moments and seasons that can be as varied as summer is to winter. Through it all we are called to place our faith in God. ACTS: What Makes Us Who We Are? A promise made about Paul's life would be fulfilled more than 20 years later as he speaks with Agrippa. Agrippa's discourse with Paul gives us pause to consider areas of our life that need to be transformed by his power. In the end, we learn the tragic reality that 'close enough' isn't. Our faith should have an impact on the way we live and the way we interact with one another. The way we live out our lives ends up being incredibly important because there is so many people that have heard of Jesus but don't know Jesus. ACTS: What Makes Us Who We Are? Paul is now being pursued by assassins. Since meeting Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus, Paul's life has had quite a few moments where his life was threatened. Yet here, as this assassination plot failed, we see Paul realizing a promise from God that was made twenty years earlier. ACTS: What Makes Us Who We Are? Pentecost Sunday is the day in which we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit recorded in Acts 2. It happened 50 days after the day Jesus arose from the grave. It represents the fulfillment of the promise that Christ will indwell His followers by the presence of the Holy Spirit.Although we live with this promise, many of us, live without the power of the Holy Spirit. This Pentecost Sunday we'll dive deeper into Scripture in order to embrace the Power of the Holy Spirit in our day-to-day lives.

The mob is ready to kill Paul. Paul is then given an opportunity to speak to the mob. And while he makes his defense, he begins to share his story. The scene then unfolds and we see listens abound: about how we come to God, about the impact of our circumstances to our witness, and what happens in the dark.ACTS: What Makes Us Who We Are?We continue our verse-by-verse study through the New Testament Book of Acts. We come to the time when Paul is now arrested and is given the chance to address the crowd. Through this narrative over chapters 21 and 22 of Acts, we see what Paul relies on, the correlation between valleys and mountaintop experiences, and what Paul did when sharing the Gospel.
