In this episode of Fatherhood Field Notes with Ikaika Hoohuli, we chat about the making the big shift of moving your family out of state. He made this move to better his family's life as they found a place that fits better with their outdoor lifestyle. But he also made this move to take a chance on himself on building a new business. Amidst that he found joy in finding new interests and new identity in this new spot. He also talks about how early struggles in his marriage brought more growth and bonding for his marriage. I love his take on focusing on his children's futures and knowing that raising his kids now is preparing them to be strong balanced adults down the road. Eliot Marshall is a former professional mixed martial artist and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. Coming through BJJ’s belt system Eliot was a prolific competitor, becoming the first American to earn IBJJF Pan American titles as a blue, purple and brown belt. It was also while climbing the ranks of BJJ that Eliot decided to enter the world of mixed martial arts in 2006, eventually competing in TUF and then signing for the UFC, the most prestigious MMA promotion in the world.
