Aveva inventato un nuovo linguaggio di colonne sonore per film che aveva un’atmosfera cosmopolita e scrisse una combinazione di melodie senza tempo con inflessioni jazz. Spesso citato come uno dei più grandi compositori della storia del cinema, ha vinto quattro premi Oscar , un Golden Globe e venti Grammy Awards ; i suoi lavori più noti includono il tema e la colonna sonora per la serie televisiva di “Peter Gunn” , “The Pink Panther” e ” Moon River ” per “Colazione da Tiffany”.
