Phil Spector, oltre ad esser stato un cantautore, è noto soprattutto per le sue innovative pratiche di registrazione e le capacità imprenditoriali a partire dagli anni ’60, ma anche per i processi e la condanna per l’omicidio di Lana Clarkson negli anni 2000. Spector ha sviluppato il Wall of Sound , uno stile di produzione caratterizzato dalla diffusione di colori tonali e dal denso suono orchestrale, che è stato descritto come un approccio ” wagneriano ” al rock and roll .
