Matthew Thomas - Border War / Cartel Expansion (EPL Season 4 Podcast 🎙️)
⚜️Matthew Thomas @deputy_onetime he is the Sheriff’s Executive Officer at Pinal County. He’s a living legend and was introduced to me by some people I truly respect. His street credit as a law enforcement officer and as a good man preceded him and so I was honored when he agreed to do this podcast. Dealing with the things he’s been dealing with for decades down at our southern border gives him a very intense yet unique and extremely relevant story to tell as a modern-day protector. There’s just so much going on down there that the public isn’t aware of and the tectonic plates of our culture are shaking and shifting right underneath our feet without us knowing it in many cases. In this podcast, we cover the following: ⭕ Matt’s background ⭕ What’s really going on in Pinal County ⭕ Mexican cartel activities ⭕ His book: Interceptors | The Untold Fight Against the Mexican Cartels And finally, we wrap up with some closing questions. Executive Protection Brotherhood (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP155🎙️)
⚜️I want you to see what it’s like to be part of The League of Executive Protection Specialists. I want you to hear firsthand the value that League members are getting from being part of this brotherhood of protectors. Once you complete a course with us, you become part of The League of Executive Protection Specialists and you never have to do your career alone again. A few benefits: ⭕ Ongoing mentorship for the rest of your career ⭕ Your network gets built for you ⭕ The relationships you gain access to our another layer that works to ensure your success in the industry. This episode is simply a glimpse of one of our monthly meetings. I hop online with members of the league twice per month to conduct ongoing training, mentorship, and real-time help to agents within our brotherhood for the rest of their careers. This meeting took place right after the EP Forum and Close Protection conference. On the way into the live events, we met up as a class and I gave our tribe the formula I learned to achieve success when networking at these types of live events. At the event, we all linked up, supported each other, and implemented that strategy together. The results are simple… Our agents found many working opportunities and began to procure relationships that will pay back many dividends in terms of career success over the next few years. The strategy for being successful in this industry is not difficult but the advantage that league members have is simply that they don’t have to figure it out on their own or do it alone because they have each other, all of the instructors, and myself working with them to support them on their journey. ⚡Train with us at https://epspecialist.com/ EP Forum Aftermath Podcast Show Notes 00:00 - Introduction 05:25 - Cynthia Dunbar 09:43 - EP work in California for the residents of Arizona 24:47 - Chance Wilson 26:41 - Alex Turner 43:03 - Michael Rowan 54:25 - Henry Murphy 56:23 - Mike Harris 1:02 - Jon Elliott 1:06 - Feedbacks about Byron’s impact on their career path 1:21 - Morgan Harris 1:26 - Chance Wilson 🎥 Video editing | @art_production07 ⚜️⚜️⚜️ Protector by nature and by trade Byron Rodgers | @byron_rodgers #ByronRodgers #bodyguard #closeprotection #security #trainingday #bodyguards #vipprotection #vipsecurity #privatesecurity #bodyguard #armedprotection #protection #personalprotection #ExcutiveProtection #executiveprotectionlifestyle #podcast

Jaeger - Low Signature Resource Center(EPL Season 4 Podcast EP153 🎙️)
⚜️ When was the last time you practiced EPCQB? We are expected to know how to navigate dynamic and violent situations in any environment. We find ourselves deep in buildings all of the time but when is the last time any of us have trained gun fighting or close-quarters combat inside of a building? Have you ran these drills solo or with your team recently? Better yet have you ran these drills in a force-on-force format to know if your tactics are working or how good you are at executing them? If it goes down you will be expected to outperform another human being in a fight not only for your own life but most importantly for the life of that individual who is trusting you to protect them. CQB is an extremely crucial skill set for one of the most dangerous environments you may ever have to navigate with your firearm. I know that many of us neglect this segment of training and that is why I’ve joined forces with Jaeger and Low Signature Resource Center @lsrc_usa to create more training opportunities for private security professionals with regard to the competencies we are responsible for. This is one of the training segments we have implemented with a team at Bravo Research Group, my security company, and have found it to be extremely helpful in making sure we continue to gain an edge on our adversaries during times of peace. Low Signature Resource Center (LSRC) specializes in a multitude of tactical, technical, and personal developmental training for military, law enforcement, and private citizens, who are seeking knowledge to improve upon their current skill set. LSRC’s membership opportunities offer a regimented training program to build confidence in shooters of all levels through a unique training pipeline that includes individuals instruction in our shoothouse and our reality-based simulator, live fire courses hosted at a variety of different ranges in Southern California, and workshops to introduce new and useful skills. Executive Protection Hard Skills To Learn (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP150 🎙️)
👊🏽💥BOOM! In this episode, I dive into the motivations for giving birth to the Hard Skills Intensive course and why Rick Sweeney and I chose to enter the training side of our industry with this first class under the banner of The League of Executive Protection Specialists. Rick and I both have different perspectives on private security and executive protection. Rick works primarily on high-risk operations around the world and he has done so for decades. He’s also founded and operated Secfor International, which in my opinion is one of the best schools in the industry, that has trained thousands of executive protection agents. My experience in the Marine Corps and doing executive protection in over 60 different countries, gives me a unique perspective on what an agent might need when on the job. Our course will elevate you to the next level in hard skill competencies of driving, shooting, and medical. When our clients hire us, they hire us to be able to protect them and these three core competencies are skills that we hope you’ll never need, but in the event you do, you are ready! So many other courses are appropriately politically correct and soft-skill-centric. However, the Hard Skills Intensive course ensures, whether you are a civilian, law enforcement, or military that you will be able to PROTECT! Our goal is to make sure that every graduate of this course is a competent, legitimate, and able-bodied protector. There are no participation trophies, everyone is rated, given a tier upon graduation, and becomes part of the brotherhood that helps us raise the golden standard in the private security industry. Rachel Rugato - A Woman In The Field [Part 2] (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP147 🎙️)
⚜️Rachel is an exemplary female protector that I have worked with before. She is a real-world legitimate protector who is advantageous to have on your detail because she has proven skills as a protector particularly as it pertains to HER NATURAL ABILITIES AS A FEMALE! Female protectors are important to have on a team first and foremost as competent protectors but secondarily because they do allow a protection detail to have advantages that are specific to women. Every detail would benefit from having a female protector that can go many places and do many things that men can’t do or do as well. In the protection game, there are advantages to being either gender some of which are obvious and others which are less known. In this episode, we discuss those advantages and we go into a topic that is not discussed openly in our industry. Because it’s one of the more difficult equations we face, but it’s also something we face frequently and that is working solo. We dive deep into solo practitioner tactics and principles in this episode. So, men join us because there is definitely something in here for everyone. 👊🏽BOOM! Byron Rodgers - Be A Legitimate Protector(EPL Season 4 Podcast EP146 🎙️)
⚜️⚜️⚜️ For this episode, I simply sat down and clicked off safe for a heartfelt conversation with the industry. I talk about hard skills/soft skills, career moves, and changes I see coming up in the industry. I talk quite a bit about violence and how we as protectors must be formidable and able to deal with it otherwise we are nothing more than butlers with guns. It’s a tough and harsh statement but what is the true differentiator between us and our customer's personal assistants? In a nutshell, the difference is that our function is to protect and 99% of the time superior systems and soft skills do suffice to get that job done very well. However, who would we be if we also didn’t train for the hard skills to make sure we can always deliver? Our clients hire us for the delivery of high-quality protection services and I argue that if you are not formidable at the hard skills as well then you are nothing more than a concierge. We need our soft skills, we need our hard skills and we need to train for them both. We should all push to be well-balanced and as capable as possible and in as many areas as possible, that may be required to render the highest quality of service. I feel like our industry has gotten away from this reality leaning far too heavily in one direction conveniently, you’ll understand as you listen to the episode. Note, this is not all about guns but rather being able to bring protection tactics and tools to bear when necessary no matter what your environment is. It’s about the fact that we are hired to protect and that sometimes requires both hard and soft skills. Those that run from this truth are playing the wrong game in my opinion. Vincent Levy - Executive Protection Career Moves (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP144 🎙️)
This is a story about how to achieve success in the Executive Protection industry in a very short period of time. I know that our industry is growing very quickly and that there are many good people who would do very well in the protection game but simply don’t know exactly how to launch their careers. In this episode, Vincent and I lay out a clear path to achieving one’s dreams in our industry. You will listen to how he was able to achieve his career goals in a very short period of time so you can also model his strategy for success. Vincent was one of our students at the League of Executive Protection Specialists who understood the simple principle that success leaves clues unless you’re clueless. He applied the formula and got into the executive protection game at some of the highest levels. The Executive Protection Success Package is not a magic pill but it is a formula and a training opportunity that will not only teach you how to do Executive Protection but also how to launch a successful career. There are certain people I just know will go very far in this game from the moment we began working together and Vincent was one of those. I told him on the very first meeting that I’ll see him up at the top because he had everything required to achieve success in a very short period of time. He did what was necessary and now it’s an honor to be able to have this interview go live to show everyone in the industry first and foremost who he is as a person and as an amazing agent and secondarily that we’ve created tools to help get the right people into the private security game In this podcast, he shares some of his experiences as a student and how his training translated to the field. Ed Calderon - Weaponology (EPL Season 4 Podcast 🎙️)
In this episode, I chat with one of our most formidable instructors Ed Calderon and some of what he covers in his course Weaponology. It’s all about improvising and utilizing whatever is handy as a weapon to defend yourself and your clients or loved ones. About Ed Caleron’s Weaponology Using case studies to reverse-engineer criminal methodologies involving weapons, this training segment focuses on the evidence-based employment of simple, environmentally sourced offensive tools. Designed for both government and civilian personnel who travel abroad and may have a need to create their own defensive options, this module focuses on not only fabrication and employment but also the frequently overlooked and rarely taught aspects of concealment and the "smugglers mindset" based on criminal modus operandi from around the world. Instructor Zero - Gunfighting & Training(EPL Season 4 Podcast 🎙️)
⚜️⚜️⚜️ This episode was a clinic. I learned quite a bit just sitting there listening to the information structure. We speak about the humanity of a protector, the reality that many don’t want to admit and avoid while pretending to be a little more tactical than is even realistic sometimes. We spoke about ways to become better, hard skills, soft skills and we really focused on vehicle Combatives/Glen fighting around cars because that is his subject at the Protector Symposium 5.0. This episode is one of the most intense episodes I’ve done in a long time because of his in-depth knowledge on this subject matter and firearms is so deep. It was really valuable to listen as an instructor myself as Zero painted a picture and gave solid instruction on many topics. What I love about instructor Zero is his heart from what I can see during my interactions with them. He’s extremely passionate, always over-delivers, really cares, and he‘s old-school. So, his code is based on honor. He is an accomplished academic with a background as a professor. An accomplished instructor, teaching elite fighting forces internationally throughout the year. And he is most of all, a genuine person and to me that means everything. We are honored to have him at the Protector Symposium coming up. Don’t miss this, it is genuinely the training event opportunity of a lifetime! ⭕ ABOUT Instructor Zero @instructorzero The infamous instructor is flying over the pond to join and train us during this live event. He’s been operational and instructing for well over a decade on many continents, teaching many of the world's fighting forces the skills they need to be effective out in the field. As we know most violent encounters happen while we are in transitional spaces moving from a safe location such as our home or office building to another safe location such as a vehicle in many cases. This course will equip our patrons with the skills necessary to have a notable tactical advantage during a gunfight in these types of environments. Byron Rodgers- Men of Peace (EPL Season 4 Podcast 🎙️)
This podcast has been developed from my absolute favorite pieces of work done by Matthew Vivanco of Angstadt Arms @angstadtarms They brought me out to North Carolina to do a bit of a documentary about what it’s like to be a professional protector. I think what was most beautiful about this is it weaves together very nicely the reality of what it means to be a protector by nature and by trade. You’ll see my life behind the scenes, you will be able to enter my thoughts when doing what we do as professional protectors and you’ll get to see the end product as I move with a principal on the daily flow. We put our heart and soul into this work and I know that for those in the game who are truly about being legitimate protectors, this will resonate. It’s such an honor to contribute and to be connected with so many amazing people on all of these platforms and when doing honorable pieces of contracts like these. Huge thanks to the Angstadt Arms team and to all of you following and sharing this contact with the world. Let’s make the world a safer place by helping good people to become more dangerous. Protectors are the white blood cells in the body of humanity. Protector by nature and by trade Byron Rodgers . . . What does a warrior do when he is no longer in war? Does the fighter within become dormant? Does it cease to exist? Rick Sweeney - Be a Legitimate Protector (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP142 🎙️)
There are so many opinions out there about training and what is not needed. I read in some of the groups that some people think our training goes a little bit overboard when it comes to hard skills. To me, it seems like we come from different worlds but work in the same industry. I don’t understand how private security professionals can ever consider themselves legitimate protectors without knowing that they’ve mastered certain hard skills. In Executive Protection everything may go as planned most of the time but does that mean we don’t plan for when they go wrong? For me being a legitimate protector has always been about mastering the soft skills to ensure that principals experience the highest level of service on a day-to-day basis; while cultivating a level of fierce proficiency with the hard skills while not at work to ensure that that level of performance and service is reliable as well. That’s the scary thing about the HARD SKILLS… You use the soft skills every day and if you aren’t careful you can be sung to sleep by this reality and let your hard skills simply fade. Fortunately, the Marine Corps and my time in combat have already taught me how dangerous complacency is. I know that what you do while you’re not at work is what makes you a legitimate protector. The Hard Skills Intensive is the course designed to help you cultivate those skills annually. At the end of the day, our clients hire us for actual protection, and in order to have integrity with who and what we are we must be capable of physically protecting other people no matter what trouble arises. We must be legitimate protectors and that’s what this episode is all about. I chose to do this episode while on a little bit of an operation South of the border with our training Director at the League of Executive Protection Specialists, Rick Sweeney. He’s the best Executive Protection instructor I’ve ever learned from and we are absolutely honored to have him. He’s been doing high-threat executive protection and training agents for over a decade now. Our goal with the EPS League is to raise the standard of training of Executive Protection agents out there in the game. The League is the one place in the industry that specializes in training high-threat in high-contact Executive Protection. There are many phenomenal training options out there but we want to train you to be comfortable on your worst day at the job! Join the league, join the brotherhood, and become part of the gold standard. https://www.epspecialist.com/ There’s so much for everyone in this episode, pass it around and ENJOY! #ByronRodgers #ricksweeney #hardskillsintensive #theleague #bodyguard #closeprotection #security #trainingday #bodyguards #vipprotection #vipsecurity #privatesecurity #bodyguard #armedprotection #protection #personalprotection

Byron Rodgers - Executive Protection as a Recession-Proof Career(EPL Season 4 Podcast EP140 🎙️)
There has never been a better time to join the executive protection industry. As many of you know we are facing at certain times and the fear index is up. We’ve seen home robberies and crime increase tremendously in the United States and around the world. The Japanese Prime Minister was assassinated last week in the world is realizing that they need more professional Protectors. Active shooters and active human threat scenarios are happening more and more these days and what this means to you as a private security professional is that our skills are more in demand now than they have ever been before. During this episode, I share a webinar I did a month ago talking about these topics in detail in order to help paint the picture that I’m getting feedback about from clients, principles and corporations out of the field on frequently… Our industry is going parabolic and it’s only going to continue growing as the world continues to get more and more unstable. We’ve all heard rumors of recessions, food shortages and things of that nature in store for the future so this episode is about how you can elevate your career or get into an industry that is only going to thrive in the chaos. Admittedly I do talk about our executive protection training because I want legitimate professionals to do this work. My goal has always been to contribute to the quality of the professionals in this industry in order to give back to our honorable profession and this is just one more tool I’m giving you to take things to the next level. Jeff Takeda - How Warriors Develop Mental Strength (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP139 🎙️)
Jeff Takeda is bringing some things back that have always been a part of many different warrior cultures. He is one of our master class instructors at the League of Executive Protection Specialists and his module is pretty amazing. Check more on that here: https://www.epspecialist.com/ I believe it’s a discipline that we have unfortunately overlooked and forgotten these days but it can bring us all considerable strength. For the warrior, it’s even more important however to stay grounded mentally emotionally, and spiritually. I believe it is unfortunate that mindfulness and meditation have gotten such a bad rep in some circles or that it is believed that these things are strictly a religious phenomenon. The reality however is simply that these disciplines are a way of strengthening yourself internally and psychologically. All major religions talk about this discipline because it is something the human being needs from time to time. The art of quieting the mind is so good for us and even better for those of us who must perform at high levels under extreme and stressful, circumstances. This will not just help you in the heat of battle but this will also help you with the fight some of us have to find after the battle. Black Hawk Down with Hooten Young(EPL Season 4 Podcast EP137 🎙️)
Former Special Operations Soldier, Master Sgt. Norman Hooten notably known for his portrayal by Eric Bana in the film Black Hawk Down, he’s honestly the type of man I hope to be one day. When it comes to warfare in combat he has been there and done that but most importantly it has equipped him with a mental and emotional stance that should be studied very deeply. There are the men you meet that deserve respect because of what they’ve done but it is always truly priceless to meet a man who you can also respect for who he is as well as what he’s done. Norman Hooten is the type of man who, I could sit and listen to and learn from for as long as he would have me. He has led men in battle on many occasions both in distant lands, as well as here at home as we struggle in the first civilian division as veterans. By the way, his whiskey brand is pretty amazing as well and exists for all of the right reasons. Hooten Young was founded by Norm Hooten and Tim Young. Created as a brotherhood bonded by the love of freedom, family and honor, Hooten Young is a tribute to the brave men and women of the armed forces who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Hooten is a true American hero. While retired from active military duty, he continues to work with veterans today as a full-time health care provider. In addition to his medical work, Hooten has partnered with his closest friends to create an American Whiskey to honor the brave men and women of the armed forces. LTC (Ret.) Mikey Hartman – Taking Your Pistol to The Next Level (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP133 🎙️)
Mikey Hartman, Former Commander of the IDF Sharpshooting and Marksmanship School, is the CEO of CAA USA & International. CAA (www.caagearup.com/) is the exclusive distributor of world-class, operator-tested firearms accessories. Their products are specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of tactical solutions required by the world’s armed forces, law enforcement units and weapons professionals. LTC. (Ret.) Mikey Hartman, has vast and unique 20-year experience of training over 500,000 soldiers and building the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Shooting Doctrine to CAA. Working with a staff of former IDF elite reserved forces, counter terrorism and commando units and members from the shooting competition sports, Hartman developed firearms accessories for the law enforcement, military and civilian markets giving them a tactical and survival advantage. As the president of the most successful Micro Conversion Kit company in the world Mikey Hartman, has truly done an amazing job. I had always seen the MCK in different hands out in the field domestically and internationally with private security operators but I never gave it much thought. Finally, when I picked one up, it all made sense instantly. When it comes to turning your pistol into the ideal weapon for close-quarters combat, this platform is the best in the business. It’s not so small that it complicates what you need to do with your gun but actually, it’s designed perfectly to work with your hands and ergonomics. Running a shorter barreled pistol caliber inside of a building alleviates much of the concern for over-penetration we deal with when fighting with long guns. You can run the same ammo for your site on that you run for this platform and we all have a pistol collecting dust in our safe that needs an upgrade. Whether you’re on a private security team or just looking for something truly amazing to protect your family and your home with, I highly recommend you take a look at this affordable your effective upgrade to your arsenal. He's been with us in all of the Protector Symposiums because he truly was a protector at heart. And today he's out there doing what he always wanted to do by the grace of God. Through his hard work, dedication and execution of a very deliberate strategy, he has put the goal of working full-time in our industry in his rearview mirror. It’s been one of the greatest honors of my life to help many agents do this through the Training Day Success Package. At the end of the day, Daniel came to me as an amazing man and therefore he organically makes an amazing agent. Maturity is an advantage in life as well as in executive protection, employers and clients both know this. If an older agent can keep himself physically potent and formidable, there are many situations and lots of clientele that would actually prefer this individual on the job. There’s much for all of us to learn from Daniel, whether it’s his escape from communism or getting into executive protection, there’s something in this episode for everyone. Miranda Coppoolse - Human Trafficking/Behavioral Analysis/Security (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP131 🎙️)
Females in the Executive Protection Industry have so much to offer like us all. Miranda is an amazing example of that as her words come true and experience doing this work all over the globe. She has a truly amazing story with more than just a cool tactical background. She brings with her the experience of being on the receiving end of kidnapping and abuse, and many other evils we all aim to mitigate in the world. She is truly an amazing human to me for a few reasons but primarily because she has transmuted those things that were meant for evil in her life into a source of power and a drive that empower her to make sure these things happened to fewer people on the planet during her time here. This is an interview about real-world experiences, tactics, and also best practices. There is something for everyone in here… Enjoy! Aaron Suozzo - Officer Involved Shooting Hard Skills/Soft Skills (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP130 🎙️)
AARON has become a good friend as I’ve recently joined forces with him and CAA USA. I’m really excited about working with this company because I know that the MCK they produce is a hidden gem within the tactical community. When it comes to you taking your firearms to the next level, empowering people who maybe less physically potent with a system that can help them protect themselves more easily and a number of other things that piece of equipment is tremendous. Aaron works for that company but upon getting to know him better and learning about his background both with swat and gang units as a police officer, It became obvious very quickly that he had a tremendous amount of experience to share with all of us. There’s quite a bit for all of us to take into consideration from his experiences out in the field. Both physically and mentally when it comes to combative engagements Aaron has been through it and has come out even stronger. It’s always very encouraging to me when I see guys with legitimate backgrounds join forces with tactical companies because it means they really believe in the product. There’s no way we would stand behind something we wouldn’t trust our lives with and when you have the background you tend to have the conviction to make sure that is the case. This is an eye-opening interview with lots of stories about the world experience and tools that work out in the field… Enjoy! Joe Lasorsa - The Power of Cooperation in E.P. (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP129 🎙️)
Joe LaSorsa is a name I’ve heard over the course of my entire executive protection career. This company and the men who have run it have been impacting our industry for decades. In this interview, I’m honored to speak with Joe LaSorsa 2.0 who has done some pretty amazing things with the company and made some truly fantastic contributions to our industry. He was one of our honored guests at The EP FORUM 2021 and he’s also an EP Master instructor at my school, The League of Executive Protection Specialists. He runs his own school as well as the executive protection operations and is well respected in both arenas. We delve into the conversation about getting to know him and his company a little better and how it all started. It was great to know his thoughts on how the EP industry has evolved with time with the younger generation coming up and how the social dynamics have played a role. He also reveals his tactical background during the course of this conversation and how he effectively runs the business to this date managing executive protection as well as private investigations. Later in the episode, Joe also sheds light on the biggest issues that he faces in the industry. It was incredible to have him on the show. Morgan Harris - How to Get Started in Executive Protection (EPL Season 4 Podcast EP127 🎙️)
Episodes like this are special to me because they give insight into how people are getting into the executive protection industry. There’s truly nothing more valuable to me than to hear about how the tools, programs and content we’ve created are truly working for agents out there in the field in the real world. I can’t share all of these conversations with you because honestly, I have way too much content like this that demonstrates how effective my Training Day Program and Masters Class is for executive protection professionals but every once in a while I like to mix the stuff in so you guys can see firsthand that what we are doing truly works for anyone who’s willing to put in the work. Sam Jones, he’s a man with an impressive background in mixed martial arts who chose to transition into executive protection. I love doing interviews like this because they show people exactly what is possible when it comes to getting into this industry. I believe it was a matter of months from the time he trained with me in the Executive Protection Training Day Success Package (https://www.executiveprotectiontrainingday.com/) online to the time he was in the game, signed up with a few companies doing domestic private security contracting. Beyond the Armor - Season 4 Episode 125 - BYRON RODGERS
This is a brief glimpse into the soul of a young man's journey from a Third World country, a broken home, through the Marine Corps infantry and into the executive protection profession. I now serve the world as a Protector. With the expressed mission of multiplying protectors both professionally and simply necessarily throughout the world. I know that we together can make the world a safer place by helping good people to become more willing, capable, and prepared to protect. But my journey wasn’t always easy… And this amazing interview was conducted by Sentinel Security Plus out of Toronto, Canada. We dive deep into various challenges and struggles that helped me become the man that I am today. I pray that this brief conversation can give each listener an insight into the tools I’ve used by the grace of God to transmute my life from something broken, imperfect and common; into something more than I ever could’ve dreamed I could’ve been. At the end of the day, I simply want you all to look at me and see what one imperfect man or woman can do if you simply sacrifice your imperfection on the altar of consistent progress over the course of a lifetime. 1 Corinthians 15:10 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Season III EP 124: How to go from Bouncer to Executive Protection Specialist
Steve has an amazing story when it comes to how he’s gotten into the executive protection game. Over the years I’ve met many different private security professionals in various areas of our private security industry that have wanted to get into executive protection. Whether it was a guy at the door of the club, an agent I met at the venue we were moving through, or even hotel security, I’ve had many conversations with professionals who want to get into the executive protection side of what we do. The interesting thing about these conversations is that I always tell them the exact same thing… It’s a bit counterintuitive but it is the truth. I built my Executive Protection career on the East Coast and the West Coast from a bouncing position at either a local bar in Orange County, California, or a high-end club in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I’ve lived it and I know that if you have the right values, skills, work ethic, and approach, opportunities will find you. The beauty of this interview is simply that Steve and I go back and forth about how this formula works and has worked in both of our lives not only to elevate us from one position to the next but also from the club to working C suite executives and “A” list talent. Steve is an exemplary agent with a background as a United States Marine. He has been running crews out here in Southern California and is now building his books out in Texas. I reached out to him for a number of things from time to time and he always delivers in spades and so it was an honor to bring him on the show and listen to him tell his story. This podcast isn’t always about having the most popular guys in the industry be heard but it’s also about hearing everyone at every level of our game. Newcomers to the industry, guys who are building their businesses and yes those we’ve all been impressed by. At the end of the day, this is a place for the industry to be heard not just the few at the top but all of us. Steve is one of the best representations of what I hope many of us strive to be in the executive protection game… There’s something in this for everyone as always… ENJOY! Season III EP 123: How to be a Successful Female EP Agent
As always I’m looking for solid agents and good people to elevate in the game of executive protection. I’m always exceptionally delighted when I stumble across a female agent who has her priorities straight and is representing her demographic of professional protectors who make invaluable contributions to our industry. Zoila is definitely one of them and it was an honor to spend this time getting to know her and crystallizing her journey up until this point. She’s had an amazing mixed martial arts career already which I believe gave her many of the correct values to be successful and pretty much anything she wants to do next in life however I was very delighted to hear that her experience with this career is also extremely meaningful to her and has given her quality of life she truly enjoys. She is relatively new to the game still and in my opinion that makes these conversations even more interesting because those of us with more experience in the game can learn what it’s like for the newcomers we are seeking to attract to our businesses hopefully hire and wore those we manage at various accounts. Additionally, all the other newcomers to the game can learn what is truly working and elevate their skills in order to also achieve success in our industry with regards to their careers. Zoila is definitely one of the special ones with the right engine designed to take her far and values to keep her from falling into most of the pitfalls that beset even the best of us at times. I have lots of faith in her and believe that our industry is much better with her in it and also with the participation of others who take note of the success codes she lays down during this interview. We covered a number of different topics both within the industry in terms of female operatives, good executive protection work, covert protection experiences and many other things. We also covered various other protection topics such as females for martial arts, when should you start how young should you start them and what art forms work the best with the feminine form… There is so much good information in this podcast for everyone, please sit back and enjoy. Season III EP 121: A Bodyguard in the Mix
As I aim to explore, understand, call and expose different market segments of the executive protection industry with the listeners of this podcast, recently I decided to dive into a client demographic I haven’t dug into that much on this podcast. To be completely honest when I started this podcast I was worried I would run out of content or individuals to interview but the truth simply is… There’s still so much more to cover. The hip-hop scene is a part of our industry that can be a bit controversial amongst executive protection professionals and bodyguards. However in my opinion it’s also one of the highest threat environments in our game as many of the clients in that space have legitimate street beef‘s that spill over into their professional careers. Big E is one of the most highly recommended professionals in that space and during this episode, I have the honor of going deep with him into what that game has been like. He’s worked with many of the biggest names, ran teams all over the world and is a living legend within that space. He’s also a very respectable man and a genuine friend! His street credit and reputation definitely precedes him and if any of the listeners are thinking about playing this game then this is definitely the interview for you. The rap game very often is one place where the rubber meets the road for real in executive protection.… ENJOY! Protector by nature and by trade Byron

E.P. Specialists - Executive Protection Training (EPL Season 3 Podcast EP120 🎙️)
This podcast episode is a cumulative summary of the interactions that I have with the Executive Protection Training Day Success Package students. It's amazing to learn about their experience, answer their questions and discuss the various aspects of Executive Protection with my own experience. Our members have found tremendous success after joining the program as well as from the podcasts. One of the major advantages of the executive protection training day success package is the fact that you always have access to your instructor and your class. It’s only natural to retain a certain percentage of what you’re taught at any given time Period when you go to a school in person it’s an amazing experience and it has lots of value but over time that information degrades and leaks out of your awareness. With this online executive protection course, you’ll always have the class, you can go back and take it at any time. Beyond all of that, you’ll have the digital classroom and all of the relationships within the course to help move you towards success through networking. The third level of benefit to how we do it and simply that I’ll always be coaching and counseling with you multiple times per month through zoom meetings so we get to do our careers together and I’ll do everything I can to help you succeed as well. So, if you're on the edge and looking for a reason to join this program, watch the video till the end! Season III EP 119: How to stay safe with Steve Somerville
This comes straight from our EPL Canada chapter with @sentinelsecurity Steve Summerville @summervillesteve is the President of Stay Safe and retired as a Staff Sergeant with the Toronto Police Service in 2001. Security Coordinator for the AIDS 2012 Washington, 2010 Vienna and 2008 conference in Mexico City (as well as AIDS 2006 in Toronto) and the SARS Concert in Downsview in 2003. Steve has extensive experience in all phases of Crisis Management Training, including Crisis Resolution, Tactical Communications, Defensive Tactics, Use of Force, and Restraints. He has been recognized as an Expert in the field, including every level of the judicial system from Criminal to Coroner’s Court. Steve continues to provide Expert opinions to Legal Firms, Judicial Systems, Coroner’s Court, etc Steve is an amazing human being. His level of competence when it comes to his chosen profession is exemplary and puts him within an elite class of professionals when it comes to what we do. Additionally the subject of “use of force“ is so terribly important yet so often overlooked that I believe his work it’s something we all need to pay much closer attention to. The reality simply is that we do so many things and invest our time/attention in so many areas but when it comes to this, we can do everything right and still lose everything without the right pieces in place. Spending time with Steve during this last Protector Symposium 4.0 has given me even more insight into who is as a person and I am beyond impressed with his humility, efficiency and care/concern for other human beings. While he is extremely technically confident, he is a man that genuinely cares and that is very special these days… Enjoy this episode because there’s something in here for every protector no matter what their walk of life is.
