Rob Ruckus on Bad Ink and Good Cannabis
On this edition of Everything Is Personal, what happens in Vegas ends up on someone's podcast. Len and Jon welcome long-time Las Vegas punk rocker, bass player, co-star of the reality TV show Bad Ink, host of the Ruckus On the Radio podcast, and cannabis consultant/activist Rob Ruckus. A former opiate addict as the result of previous medical procedures, Rob found pain relief from cannabis oil following recent hernia surgery, and he shares the story of how he and his team helped a 16-year old girl born with cancer survive without chemotherapy or radiation, but with cannabis oil. Rob also talks about the fun and joy in developing his band's current act covering jazz standards, saying "we're not old jazz musicians – we're old rock musicians," and expresses his love for the diversity of sounds and styles rooted in punk rock ethos as part of the sorely missed Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. Len also shares some of his company's recent difficulties securing needed insurance policies by describing it as "the new stigma" to prevent the cannabis industry from competing on a level playing field, and how cannabis can not only curb ADD and offer a path to greater focus, but facilitates dopamine release. Len and Jon also discuss Asperger's syndrome, Elon Musk's recent "cringe" appearance on SNL, how Jon missed out on a potential pittance of Musk's fortune, and a Have You Heard with a long unheard late-disco classic, jazzy drums, and what might've been a big hit in 1986.
