For episode 18 of the EU-Startups Podcast we interviewed serial entrepreneur and investor Lukasz Gadowski. Lukasz is kind of a living legend of the German and European startup ecosystem and co-founded big success stories like Delivery Hero and helped building many other European tech companies. Delivery Hero, today is a publicly traded company and has a market cap of around €30 billion. As angel investor and through holding companies like Team Global (formerly Team Europe), Lukasz also invested in many of Europe's most exciting startups of today, like Volocopter, Choco and Enpal. By the way: Lukasz also co-founded the German startup magazine Gruenderszene many years ago, which inspired me to eventually create EU-Startups back in 2010.

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Berlin, Ecosia is a truly social enterprise - a 'search engine for good' which uses big parts of its ad revenues to plant trees all over the world. Already more than 130 million trees have been planted with Ecosia's help. Christian Kroll and his team bootstrapped Ecosia to become the leading search engine with its headquarters in Europe. Niko Woischnik and his team eventually decided to pivot the business away from technology conferences to an edtech product called TOA Klub. Streetbees landed a funding round of €34 million Series B funding in October 2020, and €5.5 million of investment in December 2020, setting them on a course of even faster growth in 2021.
