Interview with Rolly Crump
Rolly Crump is one of a handful of Imagineers that has impacted some of Disney's most iconic and enduring attractions - from the Haunted Mansion to the Enchanted Tiki Room to Small World in Disneyland, to Mr. Toad, The Land, and more in Walt Disney World. His work still brings joy to millions of people all over the world, and we are very honored to be able to chat with him on this show. Rolly was joined by his wife Marie, who helped with the interview, since Rolly had a little problem hearing us. We really were overjoyed to do this show, and Rolly might be the sweetest man in the whole universe. If you liked this show, please swing by and grab his book, "It's Kind of a Cute Story". It's full of great stories about Rolly, Walt Disney, Marc Davis, Mary Blair, and more, and is told in a very care-free way. We loved every page. Learn more about your ad choices. EarzUp! In-Depth #3
Another week, another news-filled show from Jason and Jeremy! As usual, we cover a wide range of topics, from new busses in Walt Disney World, to all the outrage over the casting decision in The Little Mermaid, to the recent earthquake in Disneyland. It was a weird week in Disney news, which led to a weird show. We hope you like it! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Importance of Food in Disneyland
Food in Disneyland is a no-brainer. It seems to have had an important place in the Parks for many years now, and not just in the Instagram-centric world of the past few years. Today we take a look at the long relationship Walt Disney had with his own food likes and dislikes (mostly the latter), and see how those affected certain aspects of Disneyland. Plus we talk about all the Disney rumor site drama, and we witness the triumphant return of not only Jeremy from SpectroRadio, but our very own Taren! Learn more about your ad choices. EarzUp! Indepth | Episode #2
On this week's episode, Jeremy and Jason chat about a couple of timely news stories from both Disney coasts. From Jeremy we hear about more price increases and how the new Philharmagic install in Disneyland compares to the original, and Jason chimes in with the new store in the Main Street Cinema that popped up and was quickly destroyed online and then removed by the park, as well as digging into that old myth behind the "Disneyland Test Wall" on Main Street. Thanks to Patrick at Stuff From The Park for use of the new-to-me photo! His site has loads of amazing photos, be sure to check it out! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The EarzUp! Review of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
The Black spire Outpost, on the remote planet of Batuu, has had quite a bit of exposure since it was open to the public, and this show will be no exception. Yes, it's time for our rundown of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge! Beyond the tips we gave on the last show to hopefully help you with your reservation time, this show is everything we encountered and what we thought of it all. We also have some Disney News, and Jason speculates on the recent Marvel Land gossip, and how there won't be an actual "microbrewery" on the property. EarzUp! In-Depth
Welcome to the very first episode of EarzUp! In-Depth, a Disney news show with Jeremy and Jason! On this show, Jeremy and Jason each choose two or three new stories and discuss them at length. It's a way for us to bring you deeper takes on some more current news - too often when our regular show is posted, the really good stories are old news. With EarzUp! In-Depth, we can finally bridge that gap between current events and our weird opinions. These shows will be recorded twice a month, and released on alternating weeks so as to not interfere with EarzUp! in general. We'll also be releasing then on our Patreon page for you Patreon supporters to get a first listen to each show. Please enjoy our new show, and let us know if you have any feedback! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Review and Tips
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is officially open! Since some of us (Jason and Taren) were lucky enough to grab a reservation to explore the new outpost on Batuu last weekend, we decided to record a very short show for those of you who may be lucky enough to grab your own reservation. It's not a full recap or review - that will be coming on our next regular show - but we hoped that because we were able to be there on opening day, our experiences could help others who might be as blown away and lost in Black Spire Outpost as we were. It really is an immersive experience, and we just started to get our footing about two hours into our time there. So even if you aren't going in the next few weeks, hopefully we can help better prepare you for your eventual departure to Batuu! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The History of the Tahitian Terrace
With the recent opening of the Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland, we felt it was time to revisit one of the most talked-about attractions (possibly) in the park - the Tahitian Terrace! Jason decided to take a look at the history of the Tahitian Terrace - what it was before the dinner show was added and what it is today ... The Tropical Hideaway, which is a great spot for food, according to our food correspondant Heather. Plus some Disney news and the return of the Main Street Windows from Bev! Kirsten Komoroske from the Walt Disney Family Museum
We are pleased to welcome Kirsten Komoroske, Executive Director of one of our favorite places, the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Fransisco! Kirsten was kind enough to join the show and chat with us about not only some of the artifacts in the museum, but the community outreach programs they offer. Plus we have some Disney News to run through as well! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Music of Mary Poppins
Some of the most iconic Disney music comes from the 1964 classic, Mary Poppins. Even reading this now, you are probably humming one of those songs right now, that's how ingrained they are in us as Disney fans. Today, we take a look at the music of Mary Poppins, as Jeremy from SpectroRadio gives us the background and musical history of this beloved film. Then we have some Disney News to talk about, including what's going on with Disney + - don't miss it! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

David Marley, Author of Skipper Stories: True Tales of Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise
The Jungle Cruise in Disneyland is one of those rides that you either love or hate - there's really not much of a middle ground there. And if you're like most of us, the "jokes" can sometimes get in the way of the actual ride. Today on the show, we talk with former Jungle Cruise Skipper and author of Skipper Stories: True Tales of Disneyland's Jungle Cruise, David Marley, who not only wrote about his time lurking about the jungles of Disneyland but he interviewed different Skippers across the various decades of the Jungle Cruise's lifetime. These two perspectives on this classic ride gives an accurate and in-depth look into what it takes to be a Jungle Cruise Skipper. Then, we speak with our good friend Dave Marliave from Flat Tail Brewing Company, and his fundraiser called Highway to Health, where all funds raised go to brain tumor research. Walt Disney and World War One
Walt Disney was a patriot, even before he was famous. As Disney fans, we love to dig around in Walt's background, looking for fun facts and cool stories behind the man, and this show is 100% that. Sure, we have heard some stories that Walt was in World War 1 driving an ambulance, but that's where most of the story ends. Today we dig deeper into his time during the war, and how it helped to shape his future. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Interview with Garner Holt
Look, we are just going to say it: Garner Holt has done more for theme parks than just about anybody - we'd even put him right up there with Walt himself in that category. Many folks won't know his name, but we have all seen his work around various Disney Parks (and beyond!). Today we are lucky enough to chat with Garner about his animatronic empire, how he got started crafting his moving artwork, and going over some of his more famous works. After we calmed down, we talk a bit about the Walt Disney Family Museum again, and how they are coming on the show in the near future - very exciting for us! Then we do some Disney News and finally end the show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Remembering Ron Miller, ex-Disney CEO
Sometimes we tend to forget just how big The Walt Disney Company is, or how many working parts are involved. We just wake up in the morning and read about the latest Disney film, or ride, or venture and get on with our day. Ron Miller was one of those "working parts" that had a lasting and profound impact on The Walt Disney Company - and film history in general. Today, we dig into Ron's time with Disney and explore how he rose up the ranks, from delivering blueprints to running the company, and the decisions he made to push moviemaking into new realms. We also do a bit of Disney news, and talk briefly about a new addition to our Secret Show family ... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Creating Disney’s Next Theater Show
Beyond the characters, theming, rides, and churros of the Disneyland Resort is a world of theater shows. The Disney, Jr. Dance Party, Frozen Live at the Hyperon, Mickey and the Magical Map, and more are waiting for you to slow down enough to remember they exist at all. On today's show, we try our hand at creating Disney's next theater show with a bit of creative thinking. What would we like to see in the Parks? Or, more accurately, what would we like to see replaced? And how many of us even remembered there were more stage shows than just the Frozen one at the Hyperion in DCA? So many questions, so little room on the SD card. We also tackle some Disney News, and Jason sends Terrence back into the Press Room for some much-needed clarification. How To Save Money at Disneyland
There are certain facts that you have to face if you plan on visiting the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim: the parks will be crowded no matter what time of year you go, and it will cost way more money than you budgeted for. Once you come to terms with those two things, the stage is set for you to have a good time! Considering Disney loves raising the prices of their theme park admission, it's no wonder we are looking for any way to save a buck! On today's show, we gather some tips and tricks to show you how to save money at Disneyland! But first ... The EarzUp! 2018 Disney Year in Review
2018 was a big year for Disney, and there's only one way to send it out the door - review it! Disney’s Candlelight Processional

Destination D Wrap-Up
Today's show is all about Destination D, the massive event that Disney held to spill the beans on some new attractions as well as give more info on some well-known stuff *cough* Star Wars Land *cough*. Before we get into all of that, though, Terrence has a movie review for "Cinderella". Does the Disney Classic hold up? Find out! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We Brought A Baby to Disneyland!
It finally happened - Jason and Taren took their little kid to Disneyland for the first time! So on today's show, we talk about how that experience went for both Jason and Taren as well as for little Alice. What was interesting is how bring a baby to Disneyland really changes your perspective on the Parks, as well as how you actually plan for the trip. Below, you'll find a few Amazon Links to a couple of items we talk about on the show that really helped us execute a 6-day vacation (Not all of it in Disneyland!) and reduce any impact on Alice. The links are through our Amazon Affiliate program, so if you purchase one of these lovely items it helps us out a bit. Disney College Program and Why The Household Name Podcast Stinks
Today on the show, we talk to Brittany, who is a member of the Disney College Program, which is something we weren't all too familiar with. Then we get down to business: Jason was interviewed on a podcast called "Household Name", and is produced by Business Insider (so you'd assume it would be good). one of their recent shows was about Disney Social Clubs and Jason was asked to speak about how they fit in with the larger Disneyland environment. Well, as these sorts of things happen, he was taken out of context and his true views were not represented, so we spend the last half of the show playing clips from his full interview. Media is fun! History of the Enchanted Tiki Room
The Enchanted Tiki Room in Disneyland is a classic attraction, steeped in park history. In fact, some of the most famous names in Imagineering put their talents into the design of the Tiki Room - and none of them involve inventing the Dole Whip. Then we get to some Disney News, which is always a good time! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The EarzUp! 5th Anniversary Show
Well, we made it through our 5-hour broadcast marathon! Just barely though ... big shout out to RedBull for being gross yet effective. In this epic show, we have Jeremy from SpectroRadio in studio, we have Dan (MouseBrew) back on for a quick round of catch up, our buddy and former Imagineer Kyle to discuss not only our armchair imagineering segment but to discuss why FastPasses are killing the Parks, Rand Boyd who wrote a book on his time at Disneyland Maintenance called Elbow Grease and Pixie Dust, and so much more! Who Brings a BABY to Disneyland?
Of the many things Jason and Taren thought they would do in the course of this podcast, bringing a BABY to DISNEYLAND is not one of them. Well, Taren probably thought it would happen, Jason didn't. In preparation of their upcoming trip to the Disneyland Resort, Jason and Taren lean heavily on Terrence and Beverly for advice on what to do with an 8-month-old child in a theme park. The History of the Submarine Voyage/Finding Nemo

History of King Arthur’s Carousel
The best-known ride in Fantasyland is probably Peter Pan's Flight. Then, what ... Pinocchio? Maybe Mr. Toad? Despite being the largest attraction somewhere towards the bottom of that list comes King Arthur's Carrousel. Today, Taren takes us through the history of the Fantasyland anchor, and we learn a lot about just what went in to making this ride what it is! Learn more about your ad choices. The History of A Bug’s Land

The History of the Jungle Cruise

Today we'll talk about the pre-cruise planning, what Uncle Walt had originally created in his mind and what the Imagineers made him settle for. Plus, Jeremy is back with another great SpectroTime segment! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Disney Patents with Brian Schar of CrossPond Law
Patents have been the linchpin for success in the Disney Empire since the days even before Disneyland itself was built. Most of the time, when we talk about Disney patents we are reading news about current, high-tech stuff that hasn't made its way to the consumer quite yet, but we don't really focus too much on the patents that helped to build Disney as a company. So when our friend Brian Schar of CrossPond Law reached out to us and had an idea for a show all about older Disney patents, we were glad to have him in the studio. The History of the Superstar Limo Ride
If you are anything like us, once you read this title you thought, "Huh?" But it's true, there was a ride in DCA called the Superstar Limo, and it was ... a thing. Make Disneyland Fun Again!
All too often, we like to slam Disneyland for being too ... something. Too crowded, too expensive, too greedy. Well today's show is all about how we can change that, and make going to the Parks a fun experience, and it's all based off of listener feedback! Jeremy from SpectroRadio calls in to give his experience during the Food and Wine festival in Disney's California Adventure, and we do some Disney News. Why We Would Totally Go To Hong Kong Disneyland!
Next up in our travel series: we investigate Hong Kong Disneyland to learn more about the place. We talk so much about Disneyland and a bit about Walt Disney World, that we really don't know much about the other Parks located throughout the world. So today we hit up Hong Kong and, after a brief history from Taren, we discuss our top five things that we would totally hit up if we ever made it out to Hong Kong. Plus, we stream for the first time on Twitch, which is pretty cool! Some Disney News happens, also, which is equally as cool. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Building the Rockwork at Disneyland
Walk around the Disneyland Resort and hidden in between the plants and buildings and strollers you'll find ... rocks. Like anything Disney does, some of these rocks are real and some are man-made. Some are designed to be noticed and some are not. Today we chat with former Imagineer Kyle who gives us the scoop on when the Parks bring in real rocks and when they need to craft their own. He goes into detail on the process of making huge structures like that big canyon wall in CarsLand, for example. It's a fascinating look at one of the lesser-known features of Disneyland! The Disney Upcoming Movie Rundown
Disney always has some movie in the pipeline, and today on the show Terrence takes us through those films set to come out in the next few years. Disney News and More
It's been a long time in between shows, and for good reason - Taren and Jason had been busy with their brand new baby, Alice! The EarzUp! 2017 Year in Review
Today's show is all about the past. Which, we suppose, is not that rare for a show about Disneyland, but at least it's dealing with the recent past: 2017! Interview with Jake Fite of the White Rabbits Social Club
Today's show is a departure of sorts for what we normally talk about on EarzUp, but it is interesting nonetheless. A few shows back we read an article from past guest David Koenig on a social club that was being sued, along with the Disney company, for allegations of extortion and threatening behavior. We all thought it was an interesting story and one that we should try to explore a bit further. David's article, while well-written, was understandably one-sided since the only information he had to go on was the court documents filed by the plaintiff. Being the intrepid pseudo-journalists we are, Terrence reached out to Jake Fite, one of the many defendants in the court case, to see if he would come on and give his side of the story. It's a complex one with many layers, and might not be suitable (or interesting, as it's rather long and detailed and has nothing to do with Disneyland history) for those younger kids in the audience. The History of Captain EO
Not many things about Disneyland have made us cry out in pain nearly as much as the removal of our beloved Captain EO. Sure, it's not perfect, but what is? Today, among other things, Terrence takes us through ... The History of Captain EO But first ... Jason finally completes the long overdue Animated Classics review of Fun and Fancy Free, and nobody can believe it. We announce a new show coming out on our channel called "Sabers and Superpowers", which is hosted by Anthony (AKA Kanye) and is all about the Marvel and Star Wars Universes. After that ... Feedback, Taren's Thinks, and a great segment with Jeremy from SpectroRadio! Then, Terrence goes into the history of Captain EO. Which isn't super long, but informative nonetheless. The EarzUp 100th Episode – LIVE!
Well, we did it - 100 episodes of EarzUp! Podcast ... 4 years of our little show and countless new friends later, and we found ourselves on the balcony of Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney, literally flanked by listeners and fellow Disney Nerds. And 1/4 of Terrence's family. This was an incredible show to be a part of, and we cannot thank our listeners and fans enough for not only allowing us to get this far, but for coming out and hanging with us. Jason waxed poetic about it over on this blog post, so if you want more of that, he's your man. The Sights and Sounds of Disney Halloween
Our favorite time of the year is right around the corner ... Halloween! So let's get spoopy and learn about ... The Sights and Sounds of Disney Halloween But first ... We open the show goofing off like normal. Before Feedback, Jason gives a rundown of our latest issue with social media, and how we messed up. The History of the Haunted Mansion Stretching Portraits But first ... Our show starts with the normal B.S., and we announce some of the coming price changes to our Patreon page. It's still in the planning stages, but we hope these changes will bring more folks to our little show. Then we do some Feedback, and bring up Jeremy from SpectroRadio to tell us about the music of the Enchanted Tiki Room - the good and the bad. Then it's Taren's turn to tell us about the history of the Haunted Mansion Stretching Portraits. Their past is fractured a bit, but makes for a good show, nonetheless. How Disney Prepares For Disasters
While the odds are very, very low, it's possible that something bad will happen at a Disney Park near you - maybe even while you are visiting. Our friend Miles was at Walt Disney World during Hurricane Irma, so today we are talking to him to find out ... How Disney Prepares for Disasters But first ... The show got off to an odd start, as our cats decided to have a full-on fight in the other room. We cut most of the pause out of the actual show, but the long version is on the video below if you want to watch an empty studio for some reason. If you listen closely you can hear both cat howls! Then we get Miles on the line. Miles, you might remember, was on our Modeling Disney show awhile back, and just happened to be in Walt Disney World when Hurricane Irma hit. We followed his progress at the resort via his Facebook updates, and after he made it back safely, we wanted to know just how Disney prepared for something like a Cat 5 hurricane. Afterwards, Terrence puts together a little information on how Disneyland would handle an emergency. Obviously we don't get hurricanes out here, but we do have earthquakes!
