Elon Musk claims Donald Trump supports his plan to distribute savings from government cost-cutting, managed by his "Department of Government Efficiency (Doge)," directly to citizens in the form of "Doge dividend cheques". The Doge program aims to slash government spending and has supposedly saved $55 billion, though this figure is debated. While Trump has expressed interest in sending a portion of Doge savings to Americans, Republican leaders like Mike Johnson oppose the idea, citing concerns about fiscal responsibility and the national debt. Some advisors argue that distributing these savings would not necessarily stoke inflation, while Musk frames the distribution as a victory over entities harmful to the country.
