One in paticular - the unsolved death of The Chattanooga Jane Doe! Here is sample of his take on this story: "On March 29th, 1999, a body was discovered in a creek bed in Chattanooga, TN. The body was found by workers clearing brush between the northbound and southbound ramps from Interstate 24 to Rossville Boulevard near the intersection with Cannon Avenue. The body belonged to a woman who was partially clothed, wearing only a pair of red shorts. A red ponytail holder was on her left wrist, along with a rubber band. Her body was in a state of what they called “advanced decomposition” and was skeletal. She was believed to have been dead for several months." Without the mtDNA results there was only circumstantial evidence pointing to Ware as the suspect in the rape and murder of a fouryear-old girl. The defense claimed that another man in the home, the babysitter, had framed Ware, who was found drunk and asleep next to the body of the child. The statistics surrounding this illness are staggering and diagnoses continue to increase. There are steps that can be taken to help improve your odds, but what if you’ve already been diagnosed with some type of cancer? That’s exactly what happened to our guest this week. Meet Chris: Chris Wark was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003 at the age of 26. He underwent surgery to remove a tumor, but decided against the conventional route of chemotherapy. He radically changed his lifestyle and diet and through that hard work his body healed without harsh drugs. We talked about how the VA is changing is reputation among veterans-how leadership matters-building a Government agency based on the customer experience-the services the VA provides-what is next for the VA-and more! Who is Mr. Dücker (abbreviated from the VA website): In this role, Mr. Dücker oversees health care operations for two Level 1A VA medical centers and 20 outpatient clinics serving more than 140,000 enrolled Veterans living in middle Tennessee, southern Kentucky, and northern Georgia. He leads an executive leadership team of seven and 5,200 employees with an annual operating budget of $1.8 billion. Under his leadership, he has maintained strong academic affiliations and cutting -edge research advancements with five medical institutions, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Meharry Medical College, and more than 100 associated health residency programs. He also championed a new partnership and resource sharing agreement with Fort Campbell Army Post and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital resulting in the newly constructed Fort Campbell VA Clinic, making this the only VA-DoD health care clinic in Kentucky and second in Tennessee. Mr. Dücker retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2017 as a Medical Service Corps officer at the rank of Colonel after nearly 34 years of service. He received numerous awards during his military service including the Legion of Merit (2) and the Bronze Star for leadership and meritorious service as a Commander in Afghanistan.
