In last night's live we talked about posture and balalnce in the saddle. This is something you need to be mindful of all the time. Slouching also means we end up looking down which we don't really want to do! We had some super questions about riding without stirrups.We shared some exciting info about the upcoming Canter Challenge. Last night’s live was a little different as I was live from the horse show in Del Mar. Have you watched this week’s YouTube video? I would recommend watching it as it’s a really interesting one. I taught a symposium in Idaho late last year and I had a super student on a Lusitano and he started anticipating. So I shared how we worked with him when he started to anticipate the canter transition.If you have a horse that starts anticipating and getting tense, it can be hard. I would recommend working on some circles and patterns and focusing on tempo. Dressage is definitely the hardest sport!I also shared an update about Harvey, he’s going to stay with my mom in Colorado for a year to have a break and just hang out in the pasture for a year.I want to remind you all to love and cherish your horses and appreciate every day you have with them.PS. We are talking about keeping your hands still because that was this week's video, and it's something we sometimes don't realise they're moving quite so much!The "secret" to keeping your hands still is to have an independent seat. Your hands are an exacerbation of what your seat is doing; if your seat is bouncing, you hands are bouncing even more. If your seat is better connected to the movement of your horse, your hands are steadier and quieter. The first of my free Rider Position webinars is coming up this Sunday! You can RSVP here.

Last night we had a great chat about relationships. We reflected on our relationships with people and with our horses.  We got a really exciting update from Germán about his new horse, tune in to hear more about her! We also talked about bend and had some super questions on turning our horses. Last night in the live I talked about riding an older horse, considerations to make for an older horse, and the wonderful partnerships people have with their older horses. Including lots of great questions from participants.I also shared some updates from my trip to Europe last week. Last night Germán and I talked about hot, tense horses and horses that jig, so they get anxious and can't quite settle. Well it has been a week! It's kind of ironic that we had a groundwork webinar on Sunday and had planned to talk about groundwork today, because this week a fire broke out right behind our barn and we had to quickly load the horses and get them out. It's so important that you do your groundwork and your horse loads on a good day, because trailer loading is just ground manners on a more refined level. In last night's episode we celebrated not only our winners of the challenge, but all of the students who participated and worked so hard on themselves and their horses over the last 30 days.
