Herbal Teas to Avoid During Pregnancy

Pregnant? Avoid these six types of herbal tea! In this podcast, we’re going to talk about which herbal teas to avoid during pregnancy. Some teas can contain compounds that have the potential to cause complications during pregnancy. Take a look.  1. Hibiscus tea - in excess, hibiscus tea can potentially lead to delayed puberty, cause a miscarriage, and stimulate mensuration.  2. Nettle tea - nettle tea can stimulate contractions of the uterus. This is not good for early pregnancy.  3. All caffeinated teas - black, green, white, matcha, and chai teas can increase your risk of early pregnancy miscarriages due to high levels of caffeine.  4. Fennel tea - fennel tea can increase your estrogen levels, which may lead to pregnancy complications.  5. Fenugreek tea - this tea can induce early labor.  6. Licorice tea - this tea can increase cortisol levels, which can throw off your normal balance.  If you’re not sure about a certain herbal tea, make sure you do your research and ask your doctor before you have it to help avoid potential pregnancy complications.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. 7 Out of 10 People Take Prescription Drugs

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about prescription drugs. 7 out of 10 people in the United States take prescription drugs. That’s 70% of the population! The majority of those who are 45+ take four prescription drugs. Now, you should know that I’m not against taking medications. You should never stop taking a medication without your doctor’s approval. However, there are some side effects that come with taking virtually any medication—especially when you take multiple medications. This is why I believe everyone should be working with their doctor to address their health problems at the root. Many times, there isn’t a long-term plan established by a patient and their doctor to come off of the prescription drug. If that sounds like you, here are some questions you should ask your doctor: 1. What is our long-term plan? 2. What is the actual cause of my symptoms? 3. Are you willing to help me get off my medications using dietary and lifestyle changes and natural alternatives? Changing your diet can often completely change your health. Having a healthy diet and lifestyle may reduce your need for medications over time, with the help of your doctor. Additionally, many natural alternatives can help remedy your symptoms without any side effects. Tudca, milk thistle, and vitamin D may help you ween off of medications without additional side effects. Ask your doctor the questions above and see if they can work with you to reduce your long-term medication use. Eat More Mushroom on Keto

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about why you should add more mushrooms to your diet.  Many people consider mushrooms a vegetable, but it’s actually a type of fungi. Mushrooms are made up of 92% water, 4% carbs, 2% protein, and less than 1% fat.  One cup of mushrooms comes out to 2g carbs and 1g of fiber, making the net carbs 1g.  There are many benefits of having mushrooms in your diet: • They break down plastics within weeks • They have a closer biology to animals than plants • They are rich in vitamins and minerals, including B2, B3, B5, B9, D, selenium, zinc, copper, and potassium.  • They contain B-glucans, which have anti-tumor properties Fungus is an important part of your microbiome and acquired immune system.  Funguses can also break down nutrients in the soil, which allows plants and our bodies to absorb and utilize them more efficiently.  As you can see, mushrooms aren’t just keto-friendly; they are also very healthy.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Accidentally Messed Up on Keto? DO THIS…

I accidentally messed up on keto! Now what? Today we're going to talk about what to do if you accidentally messed up on keto. Maybe you were served something you didn't realize had a lot of sugar in it, or you accidentally bought something you didn't realize wasn't actually keto-friendly. What do you do?  In the brain, you can use either sugar or ketones as fuel. But, the brain will always prefer ketones over glucose. This means that all you have to do is elevate the ketones in your blood, so the brain can use them as fuel. This can help you start to feel better fast.  What you can do if you mess up on keto:  • Take liquid MCT oil   • Take powdered MCT oil   • Take exogenous ketones  Dr. Berg’s MCT Oil ➜ ➜ https://bit.ly/3iU0wiT Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Turkey Tail Mushroom and Cancer

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about a powerful mushroom that has the potential to help fight off cancer cells and strengthen your immune system. This mushroom is called the turkey tail mushroom. The turkey tail mushroom has an interesting shape and color that looks like the tail of a turkey. This mushroom contains at least 35 compounds that directly relate to improving your immune system and fighting cancer cells, including: • Quercetin - This compound helps release interferon. Interferon is a potent immune chemical that interferes with the production of viruses. It also helps kill cancer cells. • Balcaleim - This compound has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. It also inhibits the spread of cancer cells, reduces the adhesion properties of tumors, and induces tumor cell cycle arrest. • PSK/PSP - These are protein-bound carbohydrates that help increase monocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages, and immunity to toxins. These compounds are commonly used alongside chemotherapy in Japan and China. Turkey tail mushrooms are potentially beneficial for fighting breast, blood, colon, lung, and stomach cancers. If you are at risk for one of these forms of cancer, consider giving turkey tail mushrooms a try and let me know what you think in the comments below. The Best Type of Exercise for Recovery

Let’s talk about the best exercise for recovery. There are three main types of movements: 1. Isometric: You’re holding a pose. You’re contracting your muscles, but you’re not lengthening or shortening the muscles.  2. Concentric: You’re shortening the muscle while contracting.  3. Eccentric: You’re lengthening the muscle while contracting.  Eccentric motions can have a lot of benefits. There are actually more benefits of eccentric motions than concentric type motions.  Benefits of eccentric motions:   • Eccentric motions may produce bigger, faster, and stronger muscles  • There’s greater force   • You’ll get the best repair possible   • Eccentric motions are more efficient (less mitochondrial adaptation)  • Eccentric motions may be good for people with sarcopenia, osteopenia, or tendon damage  • Eccentric motions may produce more metabolic rate, more improvement with inflammation, and less inflammation Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Why Did I Get PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)?

In this podcast, I want to cover what PCOS is and what can cause PCOS.  Symptoms of PCOS:  • Infrequent or prolonged menstrual cycle   • Excess male hormones (androgens)  • Infertility   • Excess hair growth on the body   • Thinning hair on the head   • Acne   • Insulin resistance  Most websites will tell you that the potential causes of PCOS are genetic or maybe environmental. But, I think the missing piece that you need to know is that high androgens can be caused by high insulin. And high androgens may cause many of the symptoms of PCOS.  Unfortunately, insulin levels are rarely checked. You can’t really determine what’s going on with insulin by checking your blood sugar levels. You could actually have normal blood sugars and still have high levels of insulin.  If you’re not sure what causes high insulin, I have a lot of other videos on that topic. Watch those videos and start the Healthy Keto Diet and intermittent fasting.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Your Liver is Making Your Body Stiff

Today, we’re going to talk about how your liver could potentially cause stiffness in your body. If the liver isn’t working right, it may cause joint stiffness to the point where you feel like you have arthritis.  Cholestasis is a condition where your bile is backed up and not flowing freely through the bile ducts. There is a combination of too much cholesterol and not enough bile, causing the bile to back up, which then causes inflammation.  If there is a problem with the bile ducts, you can experience a lot of pain and stiffness, especially on the right side of the body.  If you don’t have enough bile, you also won’t be able to absorb and utilize vitamin D, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Other fat-soluble vitamins will also not be available to you, which can lead to pain, stiffness, and other issues.  The best potential remedies for stiffness:  • Purified bile salts   • Get on the Healthy Keto diet   • Do intermittent fasting   • Eliminate omega-6 fatty acids from your diet  The Egoscue Method: https://www.egoscue.com/ Dr. Berg’s D3 & K2 Vitamin ➜ ➜ https://bit.ly/37A2oXE Bile Salts Recommended ➜ ➜ https://bit.ly/2XggGe1 DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... Smartphone Effects on the Brain in Children and Teens

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about smartphone addiction in teens, children, and adults.  In 2016, a study on 1240 parents found that… • 50% of teens feel addicted to their smartphones • 59% of parents believe their kids have a smartphone addiction • 77% of parents feel their kids get distracted or lose focus when using a smartphone • 72% of teens feel they need to respond to texts immediately • 78% of teens check their devices at least hourly It’s best to be fully invested in what you’re doing rather than constantly being distracted by your phone. This is why I try to only check my texts about two times a day.  Smartphone addictions are similar to drug addictions in that they influence the size and shape of certain parts of the brain—specifically in the parts of the brain that involve emotion, speech, hearing, sight, memory, and self-control.  Your phone emits EMFs, which can cause issues with your brain, heart, circadian rhythm, and fertility.  How can you avoid the effects of smartphone use?  1. Avoid contact with your brain/head 2. Don’t use your smartphone within 2-3 hours of your bedtime 3. Fasting Lowers Blood Pressure

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about why fasting lowers your blood pressure.  High blood pressure, or hypertension, is usually an asymptomatic condition. The only way to know for sure that you have high blood pressure is to test your blood pressure level with a blood pressure cuff.  There are two types of hypertension: primary and secondary. 95% of all hypertension cases are primary hypertension.  Primary hypertension is related to lifestyle choices. These are some of the things that may contribute to high blood pressure levels: • High salt • Obesity  • Smoking • Alcohol  The problem is, many doctors recommend a diet that includes carbohydrates, such as fruits, whole grains, and simple sugars. In fact, their recommended diet allows 12 teaspoons (50g) of sugar per day. That’s a lot of sugar!  Keep in mind that I am not recommending that you go off your medication without your doctor's approval. Instead, I want to show you the problems with what many consider a “healthy” diet for hypertension cases.  A study called the sprint trial was done in 2015. This study found that those who are 50 years or old who take medications live longer when taking multiple medications for hypertension.  This sounds pretty good—but, they also found a significant increase in kidney disease risk.  There are many problems with this study. They only used those with severe hypertension and  Another study on 174 people who were fasting found a 90% success rate of lowering blood pressure levels naturally.  Dr. Berg’s D3 and K2 Vitamin ➜ ➜ https://bit.ly/2U6lfX0 Purpose of Potassium: https://youtu.be/q2vPQYP0dpI https://youtu.be/Lp4HZLC0v34    DATA: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11416... For Inflamed Eyelids Do This...

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about an excellent natural remedy for inflamed eyelids. Inflamed eyelids are known medically as blepharitis. This condition can cause your eyelids to become red, irritated, itchy, and crusty. Blepharitis typically appears at the ends of your eyelids, where your eyelashes grow.  The root of this problem is often an overgrowth of bacteria, fungus, or viruses.  The best natural remedy to help get rid of pathogens is colloidal silver. Colloidal silver has potent natural anti-pathogenic properties. It can help penetrate the eyelid, unlike other conventional solutions.  Not only is this an incredibly useful remedy, but there are not any known side effects. Using conventional antibiotics may have unnecessary side effects.  Give colloidal silver a try, and let me know how it works for you! DATA:  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... Low Vitamin D Linked to Depressed Teens

Carbs vs. Sugar Clarified

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the difference between carbs and sugars.  On a Healthy Keto diet, you want to keep your carbs under 50g per day—preferably around 20g per day.  Carbohydrates are a combination of starches, fibers, and sugars.  Sugars are smaller carbohydrate molecules. For instance, sucrose is a disaccharide, which means that it is made up of two (di, meaning two) simple carbohydrate molecules.  Fructose and glucose are monosaccharides, which are made up of one (mono, meaning one) molecule.  Starches are complex carbohydrates.  Complex carbohydrates are broken down into two categories: oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Oligosaccharides have between 3 and 20 molecules, and polysaccharides have more than 20 molecules.  Then, we have fiber. We deduct fiber from the total carbs because, even though fiber is a carbohydrate, it can’t be broken down by our digestive systems.  Microbes can break down fiber, so fiber is great for supplying your gut microbes with nutrients.  Fiber does not affect your blood sugars like other carbohydrates.  Let’s talk about the glycemic index (GI). The GI tells you how fast a particular carbohydrate turns into blood glucose and affects your blood sugar level.  For example, a raw potato would be relatively low on the GI because the starch isn’t going to break down very quickly. However, cooked potatoes or a bag of potato chips would be much higher on the glycemic index because they are broken down much more quickly, thus causing a spike in blood sugar.  The goal is to consume foods that are low in sugars and carbs but higher in fiber to help keep your blood sugar levels normal.  Some vegetables are very starchy, which means it is high in carbohydrates. Potatoes, carrots, and beats all have higher amounts of carbs compared to leafy greens, asparagus, celery, and broccoli. You don’t have to count your carbs when it comes to non-starchy vegetables.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Diabetic's High Sugar Coming From Another Source

Of course, dietary sugar can raise your blood sugar, but something else can do it too. In fact, it's pretty significant. It's called gluconeogenesis.  Gluconeogenesis means that your body is generating new glucose from non-carbohydrate sources. Your body can make new sugar from fat or protein. High blood sugar is not just about dietary sugar. Your body makes sugar from other things.  The amount of sugar in your blood is significantly coming from gluconeogenesis. Diabetics have enhanced gluconeogenesis. So, your liver and your kidneys are making a lot of sugar, which raises your blood sugar.  It's important to keep in mind that the body doesn't need much sugar. There are very few parts of the body that are dependent on sugar. Everything else can live on other sources of fuel, like fatty acid and ketones.  The body has the ability to make the sugar that it needs. We don't need to get sugar or carbohydrates from the diet. However, we do need dietary fiber, which is considered a carbohydrate.  If you're a diabetic, your body is making too much sugar because insulin isn't working correctly in your body. Even though there might be high levels of insulin in the blood, the insulin is dysfunctional because of insulin resistance. Insulin isn't doing its job, which is to keep gluconeogenesis in check.  The real problem is insulin resistance. This is what's causing the high levels of sugar in your blood. I believe the best thing to do would be to focus on fixing your insulin resistance. This could potentially help your body make less sugar and improve your blood sugar levels. In my opinion, the best way to improve insulin resistance is to do the Healthy Keto diet and intermittent fasting.  What if you've already started the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting, and you're seeing improvements, but you still have high blood sugar? Your body is likely still in the process of dealing with your insulin resistance. It takes time to reverse insulin resistance. The key is to not give up, stay consistent, and know what's really going on.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Exercise Keeps Your Brain From Shrinking as You Age

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about why exercise keeps your brain from shrinking as you age.  A randomized controlled trial on 120 older adults found that there’s an increase in the volume of the front part of the hippocampus when doing aerobic exercise.  This is the part of the brain that controls spatial memory—your ability to remember locations and understand where you are in relation to other locations. The hippocampus is one of the only parts of the brain that can regenerate.  Exercise also increases blood flow to the hippocampus.  Exercise also caused an increase in BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) in the hippocampus. This helps regrow the brain.  What causes the brain to shrink? • Aging • Stress • High blood sugar What helps you avoid brain shrinkage? • Exercise • Intermittent fasting • Vitamin B1 In summary, exercise, intermittent fasting, and maintaining healthy nutrient levels are some of the best things you can do to help avoid brain shrinkage as you age. Air Pollution Can Cause Diabetes

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about air pollution.  Now, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that air pollution has now been found to increase the risk of diabetes.  This is due to something called particulate matter. These are microscopic particles in the air. They can be solids or liquids.  Particulate matter can get into the lungs and bloodstream.  The size of this harmful particulate matter is less than 2.5 micrometers. This appears as a haze in the air.  Within particulate matter, there are thousands of chemicals from industry, power plants, automobiles, and various other sources.  This air pollution has long been known to cause lung cancer.  A new study found that exposure to particulate matter (PM 2.5) can alter blood sugar levels and significantly increase the risk of type-2 diabetes over 16 weeks.  The reason why air pollution has these effects is unknown. However, there are some theories. It could be due to systemic inflammation, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, oxidative stress, or the gut microbiome.  What we do know is that pollution leads to insulin resistance, which affects blood sugar levels.  The good news is that research shows that fasting can block the adverse blood sugar effects of air pollution. Fasting can also inhibit glucose intolerance.  DATA: https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sh... The Benefits of Watercress

Today, I want to cover the amazing benefits of watercress. Watercress is a fascinating plant that has nutrients, phytonutrients, and other benefits. You may want to consider adding watercress to your daily salad.  Benefits of watercress: 1. It has phytonutrients like isothiocyanate and sulforaphane, which are anticancer. These phytonutrients combined with the vitamin C in the plant can support your collagen and elastin.  2. It has zeaxanthin and lutein, which may help filter blue light and decrease the risk of age-related macular degeneration.  3. It’s extremely nutrient-dense. It has high amounts of vitamin K1, calcium, manganese, vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta carotene.  4. It has naturally occurring nitrates, which are good for the inside of the arteries. These nitrates may help make the arteries less stiff and help keep a person's blood pressure from going too high. They may also help with exercise performance. The #1 Mistake Treating Heartburn

Today I’m going to share with you the #1 mistake that’s made when treating heartburn. I’m also going to share a few heartburn remedies that you can try instead.  The #1 mistake that’s made when treating heartburn is alkalizing the stomach with things like PPIs (proton pump inhibitors). The #1 PPI used is called Nexium, and the #2 PPI used is called Prilosec. PPIs are one of the most widely sold medications in the world.  PPIs are used to help treat conditions, such as:  • Indigestion  • Ulcers  • GERD   • Gastritis  Many doctors also suggest eating more fiber (in the form of whole grains), avoid fat, and eat bland foods (like crackers). But, grains alkalize the stomach.  I believe it’s very important to have a very acidic stomach. You need acid in your stomach to kill pathogens, break down proteins, and help you absorb minerals.  Potential side effects of PPIs:  • Abdominal pain   • Osteoporosis   • Sarcopenia   • Constipation   • Myopathy   • C-diff.   • Anxiety   • SIBO   • Fungal overgrowth   • Pneumonia   • Kidney disease  I believe the real potential cause of heartburn is things that weaken the stomach acids, and that heartburn typically comes from a lack of stomach acid. Refined grains, sugars, and processed foods can all weaken stomach acid. The weaker a person’s digestive system is, the more they need to support and enhance the digestive system.  Natural remedies for heartburn (support and enhance the digestive system): 1. Add acids (betaine hydrochloride and apple cider vinegar) 2. Add purified bile salts  3. Add probiotics  4. Steam or cook the vegetables you eat and consume fermented vegetables (eat fewer vegetables until you re-establish your acidic pH)  5. Consume fattier meat over leaner meat  6. Chew your food longer  7. Germinate the nuts you eat  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Benzodiazepine: A Natural Alternative

Let’s talk about benzodiazepines. What are benzodiazepines, what are benzodiazepines used for, and is there a natural alternative? Yes, there is!  Benzodiazepines are used for conditions, such as:  • Anxiety   • Panic attacks   • Insomnia   • Epilepsy  Benzodiazepines manipulate neurotransmitters, including serotonin, GABA, and noradrenaline. Serotonin is known to help bring up your mood, improve anxiety, and even decrease cravings. Noradrenaline is known to help focus your attention, improve vigilance, decrease depression, increase blood pressure, and mobilize the brain and body. It’s lowest when you’re asleep and highest when you’re in fight or flight mode.  Magnolia bark is a natural remedy that has been found to potentially work just as well as benzodiazepines for some people. Magnolia bark has special properties that actually mimic benzodiazepines.  Potential benefits of magnolia bark:  • It’s anti-anxiety (decreases cortisol)  • It may help improve sleep (increases GABA)  • It may help inhibit epileptic seizures   • It supports menopause   • It may help relieve depression (increases serotonin and noradrenaline)   • It may help decrease a fatty liver   • It has properties of cancer inhibition  If you’re on a benzodiazepine, definitely check with your doctor before coming off of it. But, ask your doctor about magnolia bark to see if this more natural solution that doesn’t have a lot of side effects could work for you.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Avoid Sardines with Soybean Oil

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about why you should avoid sardines with soybean oil.  I recently bought some sardines that I thought were in olive oil. However, it turns out that it was actually in soybean oil (I’ll be careful to check next time!).  Always check the package to make sure that your sardines are in olive oil or water. Soybean oil is full of omega-6 fatty acids. This can nullify the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids naturally found in sardines.  Soybean oil is the most used oil in America today. It’s also the second most used oil in the world.  Soybean oil is used in everything from fast food to animal feed to canned foods.  Research shows that soy oil can induce obesity and diabetes more than fructose. Soybean oil can also contribute to insulin resistance and fatty liver disease.  Soybean oil affects the hypothalamus, reduces oxytocin, and influences over 100 genes in the brain.  Because soybean oil is so heavily processed, it acts as a powerful oxidizer, it is estrogenic, and it can induce inflammation—especially in your arteries.  If all of that isn’t bad enough, soybeans are also GMOs. This means they are exposed to the chemical glyphosate.  In summary, make sure that your sardines do not contain soybean oil. Instead, choose sardines with water or olive oil.  DATA:  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... Why Athletes Need More Potassium

Potassium is an important key to boosting your energy, endurance, and strength. Your body has something called the sodium-potassium pump in each of your cells. This pump helps maintain the electrical gradient of the cell, keeping potassium inside the cell and sodium outside the cell.  Essentially, it helps keep your cells charged up. Your cells act like batteries that activate nerves and muscles.  If you’re deficient in potassium, you will feel weaker because your muscles won’t be able to relax and contract as well as they need to. This can lower your endurance and performance as an athlete.  A lot of the focus of sports health is on sodium. However, you need about twice the amount of potassium as you do sodium.  Try adding more greens and potassium-rich foods to your diet over a couple of days. Observe how much energy, strength, endurance, and muscle tone you have during your workouts. Then, restrict your potassium intake and notice what happens to your strength.  I’m willing to bet that you’ll feel a significant difference between having plenty of potassium and having not enough potassium. There are two ways to help improve your potassium level. The first is to increase your potassium intake by eating plenty of healthy vegetables or taking supplements. The second is to avoid foods that deplete potassium.  Refined carbohydrates and sugars can deplete the potassium in your body. Urine Test Simplified

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about how to read urine test strips. If you’re interested in using urine test strips, this video is going to simplify them for you.  Urine test strips are not made to diagnose anything. They are simply there to give you clues to potential irregularities in your body.  Most urine test strips test 10 things: 1. Protein - Too much protein could be a sign of kidney disease, dehydration, intense exercise, or a kidney stone. 2. Leukocytes - High levels could suggest an infection, UTI, or kidney stone.  3. Ketones - A potential sign you’re on a low carb diet, or you have diabetes  4. Glucose - Levels higher than 180 could indicate diabetes. 5. Nitrites - This could be a sign of nitrate-reducing bacteria, such as E. coli or gonorrhea.  6. Blood - Could indicate UTI, intense exercise, or kidney stones. 7. Urobilinogen - Could be a sign of liver damage, cirrhosis, or hepatitis. 8. pH - Levels between 6 and 7.5 could indicate uric acid stones or too much protein. 9. Specific gravity - Highly-concentrated urine could indicate dehydration. 10. Bilirubin - Could be an early sign of liver damage or a blocked bile duct.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Yellow Bumpy Patches Around the Eyelids

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about what’s behind the yellow bumpy patches around your eyelids.  This is a condition called xanthelasma. Xanthelasma is more prevalent with: • Pregnancy • Diabetes • Obesity • Hypothyroidism  • Gallbladder issues (cholestasis and biliary cirrhosis) As I dug around for research, I found that xanthelasma is associated with the gallbladder.  Xanthelasma is when cholesterol deposits form underneath the skin. These can also be known as plaques.  When you have scar tissue around the bile ducts, the bile starts to back up into the liver, bloodstream, and body tissues. This is why you see cholesterol building up under the skin around your eyes.  Without the adequate production and release of bile, cholesterol can’t be fully broken down. The key is to restore healthy bile levels.  The best remedies for xanthelasma are: • Purified bile salts • Castor oil and apple dicer vinegar (topically applied with a cotton ball) • Normalize hormone levels (estrogen and insulin)  • Healthy Keto  DR. Why Do You Get Gout in Your Big Toe?

Do you have gout in your big toe? Here is the interesting reason why, and what you can do about it. Gout:  https://youtu.be/4b0gY_jPTI0, https://youtu.be/7nwc3mTacrI Researchers have difficulty understanding what causes gout because the minority of people with gout attacks have high uric acid. Most gout attacks occur when people have normal levels of uric acid.  The uric acid crystals are also not in the area of inflammation. They believe the immune system is reacting to the uric acid crystals and then creating inflammation.  People with gout typically have a difficult time eliminating uric acid from the kidney. This could be from various things, including weak kidneys, diabetes, and insulin resistance.  Gout attacks also typically occur at night after consuming certain things, such as:  • Alcohol (especially beer)  • Meat   • Seafood   • Organ meats   • Fructose  • Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! • How to Bulletproof your Immune System Course • Dr. Berg's Beginner Guide to Healthy Keto & Intermittent Fasting Plan  • Intermittent Fasting Basics for Beginners • Dr. Berg's Healthy Ketogenic Diet Basics: Step 1: https://youtu.be/vMZfyEy_jpI  Step 2: https://youtu.be/mBqpaAKtnXE Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Adrenal Fatigue Could be a Liver Problem

This is why liver damage can cause adrenal fatigue. Dr. Berg’s Adrenal & Cortisol Support If you have adrenal fatigue and you’ve been working on your adrenals for a while with no results, it could be a sign of something else—your liver. The adrenal glands aren’t the only way that your body produces cortisol.  Your liver can actually produce cortisol—and so can your immune cells, gonads, and central nervous system.  The more your liver is damaged, the fewer adrenal hormones you’re going to have available.  Symptoms of adrenal fatigue include: • Low tolerance to stress • Poor immune function • Fatigue • Sleeplessness or insomnia • Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! • How to Bulletproof your Immune System Course • Dr. Berg's Beginner Guide to Healthy Keto & Intermittent Fasting Plan  • Intermittent Fasting Basics for Beginners • Dr. Berg's Healthy Ketogenic Diet Basics: Step 1: https://youtu.be/vMZfyEy_jpI  Step 2: https://youtu.be/mBqpaAKtnXE Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Bile Acid Diarrhea

What is behind bile acid diarrhea, and what can you do about it? Watch this quick video to find out. Low fodmap vegetables: https://www.monashfodmap.com/about-fodmap-and-ibs/ Bile can cause diarrhea as a side effect. Why? Because bile inhibits H2O reabsorption. Since too much bile can cause diarrhea, you don’t want to take purified bile salts if you already have diarrhea—it can make matters worse. The gallbladder stores bile, so your body has plenty when it needs it. Many times when you have the gallbladder removed, there’s no way to regulate the release of bile. This can cause too much bile in the small intestine, which may lead to diarrhea. • Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! • How to Bulletproof your Immune System Course • Dr. Berg's Beginner Guide to Healthy Keto & Intermittent Fasting Plan  • Intermittent Fasting Basics for Beginners • Dr. Berg's Healthy Ketogenic Diet Basics: Step 1: https://youtu.be/vMZfyEy_jpI  Step 2: https://youtu.be/mBqpaAKtnXE Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.
