Defeat. We all had a feeling it would be coming. We just didn't think it would be like this. Instead, the team turned it around and fought back, taking a lead in the third quarter and fighting until the very end in a tough, gritty 34-31 loss. The performance of the shorthanded Dolphins was admirable, but it was a tough pill to swallow as many of the little things that had cost the Dolphins in lower stakes situations throughout the regular season contributed to the team's playoff downfall. When the shorthanded Miami Dolphins were able to do just enough in Week 18 to earn a playoff berth, the hope (more so than the expectation) was that Tua Tagovailoa would clear the NFL's concussion protocol in time to return for the Wild Card round and give the Dolphins a fighting chance on the road against the Bills. There is no way around it: the 2022 Miami Dolphins season is now just a hair away from being a complete disaster. It was a brutal day at the office for the Miami Dolphins. Tua was missing receivers and when he hit them, they were dropping to ball too often. The Dolphins didn't even try to run the ball. On defense, they couldn't slow down the 49ers, who were led for most of the day by 2022 Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy. On top of all of it, Tua sustained an ankle injury, which leaves his availability for next week in doubt. Just a no good, very bad day for the team. Mike thinks ESPN, ESPN Radio, and SNY (all three of Bart's employers) should take action against Bart, and if Bart Scott was "canceled" over this it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. The rhetoric and language around Tua has gone too far, and mocking and laughing about serious head trauma shouldn't be allowed on national airways. Is the NFL embarrassed over comments like this? And why were Damien Woody and Tim Hasselbeck laughing at these comments? You would think former players who know the risks and danger NFL players put themselves through wouldn't find concussions and players being forced to retire over them funny.
