Ep 63Mothers Against Crew Cuts ft. Maddie and Tae

Welcome back to this week’s episode of Diving In Deep with Sara Evans! In this episode is joined by the dynamic, country female duo, Maddie and Tae! Maddie and Tae share how getting matched with the same vocal coach turned into a 15 year music career, how they found their way to Nashville, and their beautiful love stories with their husbands. The three of them also go in depth into motherhood and what that looks like as a musician on the road. This episode is jam packed with life advice, behind the scenes information about being women in country music, and what it means to be authentic to yourself. This is an episode you don’t want to miss, especially if you’re curious about joining Sara’s new passion project, mothers against crew cuts!Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke).About Maddie and Tae:Since bursting into public consciousness with the power-acoustic slayer “Girl In A Country Song,” which skewered BroCountry’s female stereotypes and received the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame’s coveted I Wish I Wrote That Song honor, the ride-or-die besties have been speaking truth about what it means to be smart, young women. “Die From a Broken Heart,” their second No. 1 which went RIAA Gold at the same time it hit country’s Top 40, was an unblinking look at the way being dumped can lay one out. But Maddie Font and Tae Kerr have never been ones to be defeated; instead, the pair of brazen songwriters come back stronger. Love & Light, their 16-song take on what a woman should know over what people tell them, is a festival of freedom, fun, reality, what it takes to chase dreams, and how powerful acceptance can be. Even more than the acoustic-forward – chiming acoustic guitars, well-deployed dobro, banjo and resonator guitar, as well as pools of steel guitar and mandolin shine – it’s the pair’s sleek harmonies and sharp writing that define what will most likely be called the Country Music Association Award winners’ “coming of age record.” They can also do it with an all-star band of players who deliver a gleaming country that swerves from pop to soul to classic without ever forcing the style. Enlisting bluegrass sensation Bryan Sutton, Academy of Country Music Guitarist and 2-time Specialty Instrumentalist of the Year Danny Rader, 4-time ACM Bassist of the Year Jimmie Lee Sloas, electric guitarist Kris Donegan and drummers Evan Hutchings and Aaron Sterling among many, there’s a joy to the playing that transcends Nashville’s basic cycle of 10, 2 and 6 o’clock recording sessions. You can hear the fun they’re having in the studio. Love & Light started with longtime friend, co-writer and producer Corey Crowder. They also worked with co-writers and producers Chris LaCorte and Josh Kerr. Women of both great faith and little tolerance for double talk, justification, and bloated egos, the 10-time CMA and Academy of Country Music Duo of the Year nominees are in a good place. Leaning into their influences, they’ve figured out the torque needed to create a true representation of what women – and men – want. Ep 58Country Music is About Family

Welcome back to this week’s exciting episode of Diving in Deep! Sara sits down with the talented grandchildren of country music legends Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn! In this heartfelt conversation, they share their journey as a tribute band honoring their grandparents, revealing incredible behind-the-scenes stories, and personal anecdotes that highlight the legacy of Conway and Loretta. If you enjoy the episode, please like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments below.Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke).About Tayla Lynn & Tre Twitty:There’s a moment right at the very beginning of any Twitty & Lynn show that affords country music fans the chance to look back in time. Just after the band has played the signature intro to “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn shoot each other a glance that summons the electrifying chemistry of their grandparents: Tre is the grandson of Conway Twitty, Tayla is the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn.Audiences can’t believe their eyes. From that moment, for the next 90 minutes, they’re in the presence of living country music history. “Fans have told Tayla and me that when they see us onstage singing, talking, and just looking at each other, they think, ‘Wow, there must be something genetic in those two families,’” Tre says. “It validates the experience of the concert for them. We’re telling our grandparents’ story through our story.”But Twitty & Lynn — and their internationally popular show “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” — aren’t impersonators. Tre doesn’t groom Seventies sideburns and perm his hair; Tayla doesn’t mimic her grandmother’s mannerisms. Rather, they are onstage celebrating country music, the lost art of duet singing, and the two beloved icons they refer to as “Poppy” and “Memaw.”LET'S BE SOCIAL:Follow Tayla Lynn & Tre Twitty:Instagram - (@twittyandlynn)Facebook - (@Twitty and Lynn)Instagram - (@taylalynnfinger)Facebook - (@Tayla Lynn)X - (@taylalynnheller)TikTok - (@taylalynnofficial)Instagram - (@tretwitty)Facebook - (@Tre Twitty)Follow Diving in Deep Podcast:Instagram –(@divingindeeppod)TikTok – (@divingindeeppod)X – (@divingindeeppod)Facebook – (@divingindeeppod)Follow Sara Evans:Instagram – (@saraevansmusic)TikTok – (@saraevansmusic)Twitter – (@saraevansmusic)Facebook – (@saraevansmusic)Produced and Edited by: The Cast Collective (Nashville, TN)YouTube – (‪@TheCastCollective‬)Instagram – (@TheCastCollective)Twitter – (@TheCastCollective)Directed by: Erin DuganEdited By: Sean Dugan, Corey Williams, & Michaela Dolphhttps://www.thecastcollective.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

About Chayce Beckham: Three years after becoming the only artist to win American Idol singing his own songs, 19 Recordings/Wheelhouse Records/BMG country artist Chayce Beckham is living proof of his belief that “You can’t tell someone how to write a song.” Currently nominated at this year’s CMT Music Awards for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year for his #1, PLATINUM hit single “23,” the fiery singer-songwriter laid out a course only he could follow, and today remains even more dedicated to his unique creative compass. A California native schooled on tough times and a mix of country, rock, hip hop and beyond, Beckham started a habit of heart-on-his-sleeve songwriting after some hard times when he felt he had nothing left – and when combined with his warm vocal rasp on “23,” that drive helped him charm the nation on Idol‘s 19th season in 2021. With more than 406 million streams and counting, the bluesy and brutally honest anthem debuted at #1 on both iTunes’ Country and All Genre singles charts, and now leads Beckham’s first album, Bad for Me – available now – as the emerging star finds his stride. Co-writing nine of 13 songs (three solo), the project shows Beckham opening his soul like most would never dare and embracing a timeless country-rock sound defined by fiddles, steel guitar, and plenty of against-the-grain attitude. With dusky shades of heroes like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson, the set aims to reinforce next-big-thing predictions from CMT, Amazon Music, MusicRowand more, while Beckham hits the road with Luke Bryan this summer, Parker McCollum this fall and his own headlining 2024 “Bad for Me” Tour. In this engaging conversation, Levi shares his journey in the music industry, from his early days in Nashville to his recent successes, including his hit song "Paying For It" featuring Walker Hayes.Discover the challenges and triumphs of trying to make it as an artist in today's ever-changing music landscape. Plus, get a glimpse into Levi's personal life as he shares exciting news about his upcoming wedding!Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke). About Levi Hummon:Singer-songwriter Levi Hummon spent his early 20s practicing his art, but his immersion into country music started much, much earlier. From the day he was born, his father Marcus Hummon, (one of Nashville’s most prolific GRAMMY-winning songwriters [The Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts]) immersed Levi in the music scene, and It didn't take long to realize the apple didn't fall far from the tree. At 24, Levi began releasing music of his own. Cleancut and compelling, he told stories of love and loss while building a loyal fanbase that has grown with him through every bend and break. As a Nashville native who was inspired by the legacies around him and had an undeniable gift of songwriting, it was no surprise that 5 years, 30 released songs, and 100 million streams later as an independent artist, Levi had created a name for himself. In 2021, his viral Walker Hayes collaboration sensation “Paying for It” cemented Levi’s status as a rising country star. This sparked a new sense of confidence both on stage and in writing rooms that allowed him to discover the magnitude of his potential as an artist, and a new authentic version of Levi emerged. His follow-up tunes, “Bottled Up,” “For Me,” “Good Riddance,” and “Drink On” are the product of just that. Hummon says, “taking risks, finding my own voice, and showing the scars and roughness around the edges allowed me to portray the most honest version of myself”. Coming off of his first headlining tour in the Fall of ‘21, Levi found himself to be in high demand in the spring and summer of 2022. Warming up the stage for acts like Hardy, Jordan Davis, Brett Eldridge, Brett Young, and Dylan Scott, he was able to experience in person the effects of this momentum and the reward for being unapologetically himself. While listeners across genres are creating the demand now more than ever for both a 90’s country comeback and an early 2000’s alternative rock revival, Levi’s new music has established a unique lane paved by boLET'S BE SOCIAL:Follow Levi Hummon:Instagram – (@levihummon)TikTok – (@levihummon)Facebook – (@levihummon)Website -- levihummon.comFollow Diving in Deep Podcast:Instagram –(@divingindeeppod)TikTok – (@divingindeeppod)Twitter – (@divingindeeppod)Facebook – (@divingindeeppod)Follow Sara Evans: Instagram – (@saraevansmusic)TikTok – (@saraevansmusic)Twitter – (@saraevansmusic)Facebook – (@saraevansmusic)Produced and Edited by: The Cast Collective (Nashville, TN)YouTube – ( @TheCastCollective See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The songs never stopped and somewhere between the farm and college, he picked up a guitar and never looked back. In 2015, Ben got involved in a devastating drug-fueled relationship which led him to understand better, the other side of addiction. In addition, come 2017, he abruptly lost his best friend to a heroin overdose and his entire outlook on life shifted. Motivated to change, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a country singer in late 2018. A family Ben was close with invited him to church one Sunday and as he walked the halls into the auditorium filled with 3,000 people, he knew one day he would sing "that kind of music" for the rest of his life. Falling face first into his new-found relationship with Jesus, he began writing with a burning desire to share what God did to turn his life around. Today, Ben lives completely sober, while sharing his story filled with hope, mercy and grace. By turning his testimony into songs, he has been rejuvenated with a new passion and mission; to share his story with the world and all who are ready to listen. The Alabama native's unique sound - an earnest storytelling-based country laced with the influence of the R&B she was raised on - stems from equal parts nature and nurture. She credits her celestial singing voice to God, while crediting her country music songwriting prowess to what organically flows from her pen. As she readies her forthcoming full-length debut album, Tiera delivers the project's lead single "I Ain't A Cowgirl" on April 26th. Forthcoming album standouts only deepen that narrative, taking listeners on a journey through the process of finding oneself as a person and artist amidst the shotgun start of a career and the peaks and valleys that followed - all-the-while sonically maintaining that one-car-only lane niche Tiera's carved for herself in country music due to her commitment to authenticity. Your Name Should Be Tenacity ft. Tenille Townes

On this week's episode of Diving In Deep Sara is joined by country artist Tenille Townes! Tenille shares how she ended up in Nashville and how music has played a role in her life from a very young age. She also discusses how her breakthrough as an artist was shaped by the events that occurred in 2020. The two share their thoughts on how the music industry has evolved throughout the years. Listen/watch this weeks episode to find out more about Tenille's first live band performance at age 11, touring with Miranda Lambert, and so much more! About Tenille Townes: Tenille Townes was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter earned accolades for her wise-beyond-her-years ballads before she moved to Nashville in 2013. After years of taking in sets at the Bluebird Café and pushing herself in writing sessions, she started winning over Music Row with the songs that would eventually shape her acoustic EP, Living Room Worktapes. Each track told a potent story: her buoyant voice soared over love songs like "White Horse" and "Where You Are" with their clever choruses, but "Jersey on the Wall (I'm Just Asking)," in which she questions her faith after a senseless tragedy, and "Somebody's Daughter," an empathetic look into the life of a stranger, proved she had the range to write through life's most difficult challenges. His credentials, however, shout his prominence: One of the most awarded songwriters in the history of country music, a million-selling recording artist many times over, television game show host, network soap opera star, author of four books, and a consummate onstage performer. In 1993, he was made a member of the Georgia Broadcasters' Hall of Fame. In 1994, South Carolina inducted him into their Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. And in 2001, he received the ultimate honor, membership in Nashville's prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame. Bill Anderson continues to paint a broad stroke across the Nashville music scene. Monistat Mouthwash ft. Briley King

Sara is joined this week by fashion icon and wife of music legend Marcus King, Briley King! Sara and Briley discuss Briley's impeccable style and she gives a full fit check of the outfit she's wearing. The two of them also talk in depth about the hate that they each receive online, the ever changing music industry, and the importance of family. They very quickly become bonded over their love for chicken and tennis, and Sara shares with Briley a jarring dental story that you do not want to miss! About Briley King: Briley King is the daughter of a long-haul trucker, the wife to a touring musician, and the heart behind Little Bird Trucking. Born and raised in North Carolina, Briley was taught the importance of drive and dedication at a very young age. At seven years old, her parents told her if she wanted to take singing lessons, she would have to fund the money herself. That day, she cut the top off a milk jug and sang on the street until she raised enough money to do so. Her work ethic later earned her a degree in Communications from East Carolina University, where she began working in Corporate Litigation before moving into finance. For her thirtieth birthday, Briley planned an evening out with friends to go to a Marcus King concert. She only knew a few songs - one, specifically, that she noted helped get her through a hard breakup. After the show, Marcus found a post she made on Instagram and immediately messaged her, inviting her to another one of his concerts. "I walked on his tour bus wearing a big, huge caftan and Mignonne Gavigan bird earrings," she shares. "I said, 'What's up, y'all, I look like Big Bird,' and Marcus looked at me and said, 'No, you're a little bird.'" After a night of singing and dancing, Marcus told Briley to quit her job and marry him, but it had always been instilled in her to have her own thing going - her own identity - even when she was to get married. While living on the tour bus, and unsure of when she would be able to wash and style her hair next, trucker hats became a wardrobe staple for her. She started collecting them through eBay, vintage stores, gas stations, merch stands, friends, and beyond. One night, while Marcus was on stage in his signature feather cowboy hat, Briley had the idea to make her own trucker hats detailed with a feather. Briley hand-makes every hat, usually around two hundred per day, in addition to boxing up packages, shipping each order, handling all customer inquiries, and running the social media account. She has gotten to collaborate with the iconic Houston Rodeo, celebrities, and - to make it all full circle - Mignonne Gavigan, the designer of the earrings she wore the night she met Marcus. With many accomplishments and orders to all fifty states, her absolute favorite part is watching others rock their Little Bird Trucking gear. She also acknowledges she couldn't do it without her incredible USPS mail carrier, Samantha Knox, who has gone above and beyond to help her with each order. While the idea behind starting a trucker hat company began as an ode to her dad, it has since flourished into reflecting many aspects of her own life. Birds have always signified a lot to Briley; in addition to always having a fascination for Cardinals, her grandfather loved birds. She shares, "he had a chair by the window and a bird I.D. book... all day, he would sit on his porch and identify the birds that would come to the bird feeder." Ten days after Briley and Marcus met, her grandfather passed away. She adds that Marcus and her grandmother have an incredible relationship, and that she truly believes her grandfather sent Marcus to not only her, but her whole family. Getting Older and Aging Gracefully ft. Dr. Chris Motley

This week Sara sits down with Chinese medicine doctor and friend, Dr. Chris Motley! Sara and Dr. Motley discuss how eastern and western medicine should work together more and how Dr. Motley isn't against modern medicine. He also shares many different, simple ways you can live a cleaner life and clear up some longer lasting problems that may not be solved by modern medicine. This episode will absolutely leave you wanting to make an appointment with Dr. Motley! About Dr. Motley: In high school I had three options and interests in mind: art, pilot, or healthcare. I chose healthcare. A decision that had to be influenced by God and my genetics. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Austin Peay State University in 1997. After undergrad, I attended Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri and completed my Doctorate in Chiropractic with a specialization in Clinical Kinesiology in 2004. I chose to specialize in Clinical Kinesiology, because in my opinion, it covers a wide range of testing techniques. I started a practice in a small house in Franklin, TN. Over the last 16, I have seen the practice grow to full capacity. I am thankful to God that this path has fulfilled and taught me so many of life's hidden lessons. Those lessons can be tough. Not only do you see these lessons in your patients, but also through personal experience. During my sixth year, full onset of Lyme Infection (which I believe I contracted as a teen) began in 2011. It lasted more than three years, and I almost had to stop practice completely. I experienced a wide range of the symptoms of Lyme, which made me question if I could keep practicing and even help anyone again. However, with the treatments from my colleagues and mentors, I came out of all symptoms and infections. I am forever grateful to them. I thank God that I now understand what people with chronic infections go through. Interesting enough, after my battle with Lyme, more and more people came into the office wanting help with chronic infections. Energy moves through us and creates attraction for others who need that same help. I am thankful that I have been able to assist and help those with chronic problems for all my years in practice. Another scare happened in December 2017. I had a ruptured ulcer that sent me to ICU and surgery. My surgeon, Dr. Rosen said stress was a big factor, and that I would have died if a few more hours had passed. I created a scenario of constantly saying "yes" and never saying "no". Always pushing myself had quite an impact on my health. I have recovered fully. However, this event created a positive shift in my mentality. This shift helps me in the treatment of patients. I am now more aware of the signs of disease and sickness that are based in the "fight, flight, or freeze" mechanism we put on ourselves in this day and age. Being still, staying present, and slowing down is a major source of comfort and focus in my life and health clinic. The lessons I learn from my own life and patients continuously teach me that self awareness is the first step to healing. Teaching patients to learn how to feel what they feel and not run from it is the initial phase of the journey. This gives power and strength back into a persons life, and opens the door for resolutions. I want to help teach individuals to learn more about themselves. When they do this, it brings validation and connection within their bodies, and this leads to healing. I Am A Nap Ninja ft. Charles Esten

This week Sara is joined by actor, musician, and nap ninja Charles Esten. The two discuss Sara's short lived acting career as a guest star on the show Nashville with Charles and how Charles embraces his characters as an actor. Charles not only shares stories about his acting career, but he also dives into how music was always a dream of his. Charles proves that he is not just another actor who wants to sing. About Charles: Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Charles "Chip" Esten was raised in Alexandria, VA and attended T.C. Williams High School (made famous in the film "Remember the Titans.") He then attended The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, where he graduated with a degree in economics and met his wife, Patty. While in Williamsburg, he was lead singer/songwriter in a popular local band. Esten made his theatrical debut in London when he portrayed Buddy Holly, singing, acting and playing guitar in the hit West End musical "Buddy." In that role he was honored to perform for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and eventually President and Mrs. George H.W. Bush at The White House. He was also very honored to perform with Jerry Allison and Joe B. Mauldin, Buddy's original hitmaking bandmates, the Crickets. It was during his run as Buddy that Esten first appeared on the original British version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," with Ryan Stiles and Greg Proops. When "Whose Line" came to ABC, he became a recurring cast member and frequent song improvisor. Since then he has appeared on Drew Carey's Improvaganza and toured frequently, performing live improv shows with Stiles, Proops and Jeff B. Davis. Esten's many early television credits include recurring roles on "Big Love," "Enlightened," "The Office" and "ER." Besides being the father on Disney Channel's "Jessie," he has been a Klingon on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," a secretary on "Murphy Brown" and Kelly Bundy's fiance on the series finale of "Married with Children." His film credits include "Swing Vote," "Thirteen Days," "61*" and "The Postman." Surpassing 21 million streams for his music to date, Esten is a 2018 Guinness World Records title holder for the "Most consecutive weeks to release an original digital single by a music act" after delivering 54 original songs once a week for 54 straight weeks. Winston Wells, Wales, and Whales ft. Kylie Morgan

On this week's episode of Diving In Deep, Sara sits down with upcoming country star Kylie Morgan and talks about all things music and life. Kylie shares insight into how her career took off and the people that helped her along the way. The conversation not only explores Kylie's life as a country music star, but also her unexpected wedding, having a viral TikTok song, her close relationship with her mom, and a lesson on geography from Sara. About Kylie: Kylie Morgan has quickly proven herself to be a relatable storyteller and an engaging live performer. The Oklahoma native is known for baring her soul in her confessional lyrics and leaving her heart on the stage, whether she's headlining her own tour or supporting acts like Old Dominion. In doing so, she makes her listeners feel less alone. While Kylie began writing songs at a young age, it wasn't until her grandfather bought her a pink acoustic guitar for Christmas that it all came together. "I got my first guitar and it just clicked: Here's where a verse goes, here's where the chorus goes," she says of her early songs around age 12. "It actually started to make sense for me, and you couldn't get me out of my room writing songs." She has since spent the past 14 years honing her craft in the writing room and on the stage. Kylie vividly recalls first sharing a microphone with her grandfather at a young age while singing Elvis Presley's "That's All Right." At 14, she set out on the open road and began touring full-time and hasn't slowed down since. In August 2022 she made her Grand Ole Opry debut and less than a year later wrapped her first-ever headlining tour. Kylie also performed a career-defining set at Nissan Stadium at CMA Fest 2022 and joined Old Dominion for her first arena trek as part of the band's No Bad Vibes Tour. Shortly after she was taught her first chords on guitar, Kylie told her parents she was going to skip college and move to Nashville to be a country artist. By 15, the young artist was traveling back and forth to Nashville to write with anyone she could. One of her earliest co-writes and believers was Walker Hayes.
