S1 Ep 44JUSTICE WARRIOR: FORMER PROSECUTOR TURNED DEFENSE ATTORNEY DISCUSSES LEGAL WRITING WITH A.I., THE FAILURE OF MASS INCARCERATION, AND INNOCENT MAN CHRISTOPHER NORRIS -With Guest Brenton Barber

In this profound wide ranging conversation we interview Brenton Barber a Super Lawyer, former Prosecutor, and Criminal Appellate Attorney based in Phoenix, Arizona, that represents Christopher Norris which was interviewed on DefundDOC.net episode forty. Brenton shares his remarkable personal journey. Explaining why he fights so hard for those harmed by the justice system. Detailing how he struggled, like hundreds of thousands of other Americans, with opioid use disorder. Finally overcoming his debilitating addiction to become a fierce advocate for the American people. Becoming a tribal prosecutor. A Special U.S. Attorney. And now a Super Lawyer Criminal Appellate Attorney that represents innocent man Christopher Norris. Brenton argues convincingly that many innocent Americans, like Christopher, will plead guilty due to judicial coercion. Brenton goes in depth on the trend of legal professionals using artificial intelligence in their court filings. Listen to his prognostication on the possible wide spread usage of A.I. in the legal field. Brenton does not just talk either. When he was a prosecutor he tackled bail reform. And stunningly when he was robbed at gun point he went to the sentencing judge of his perpetrator and sought mercy. Seeking no prison time for the Offender due to the failure of mass incarceration. Thankfully the Judge granted his request and sentenced the perpetrator to intensive probation. Proving that imprisonment is not the answer. Restoration and Rehabilitation is the answer. Brenton's story of the robber's sentence hit co-host Daniel J. Simms profoundly as his botched drug deal turned alleged robbery was less severe yet he received a thirty four year prison sentence. Co-host Daniel is just one of millions of Americans sentenced to slow death sentences due to dumb on crime laws. This freewheeling conversation will open your eyes to many explosive topics. S1 Ep 42VALENTINE'S BEHIND BARS. PRISON WALLS CAN'T SEPARATE OUR LOVE! - With Special Guest Messages

Love notes from behind prison bars. In this exciting episode incarcerated Americans send their Valentine's Day messages to their loved ones. Breaking false stereotypes and prejudices that those inside are unloved or forgotten. For generations the mass media and corrupt politicians have spewed propaganda demonizing fellow Americans that made bad decisions. Using crime as a pretext to systemically enslave them in cruel prison conditions. A blatant crime against humanity. Exploiting their loved ones. Extracting vast sums from their communities. Saddling debilitating court debts on them. Ensuring cycles of impoverishment. Keeping troubled Americans uneducated and untreated. Handicapping their ability to rehabilitate. Surrounding them in artificial environments of extreme violence. Further traumatizing them. DefundDOC.net seeks to disrupt these evil paradigms. Envisioning a criminal-justice system that truly focuses on restoring our troubled Americans into productive members of society. To do that we must bring society into the prisons. Prisoners should be allowed to invite their significant others, children, or family members to spend days inside. Smartphones, laptops, and internet access should be readily available. We must reform to a hyper-socialization prison system focused on educating, treating, and socializing our people. As such we speak on a wide range of matters that are important to the incarcerated community. While also discussing current legislative reform bills pending in the State of Washington. This powerful episode will enlighten you. Opening your eyes to a futurewhere we can unleash the full true potential of those behind bars.EliteInmates.com pen pal website will be going LIVE soon! S1 Ep 37RED ONION STATE PRISON: PRISONERS ARE SELF-EMULATING TO ESCAPE THE TORTUROUS ABUSE?

In this explosive episode, Melissa Eberling, A Warrior Within Us Project, blows the whistle on the heartbreaking atrocious conditions at the Red Onion State Prison in Virginia. This alarming true story unveils the horrible conditions prisoners endure. The current corrupt D.O.C. slavery and exploitation scheme imposed upon our troubled sons and daughters is appalling. Prisoners are suffering human rights violations that will traumatize them for life. In a prosperous civilized Nation such as the U.S. it should be a Crime Against Humanity to impose cruel prison conditions on our fellow Americans. At Red Onion State Prison the depravity is on full display. Voiceless prisoners are systemically tortured with long solitary confinement stints. While the prison mainline is deprived of scarce resources which inevitably leads to prisoner on prisoner violence. The Guards are trained to treat our countrymen brutally as animals. Imbuing deep prejudices in the Guards to ensure they treat prisoners horribly. S1 Ep 34TRUE PUBLIC DEFENDER: HEAD DIRECTOR TO OFFICE OF PUBLIC DEFENSE OFFERS SOLUTIONS TO MASS INCARCERATION - With guest Larry Jefferson

Larry Jefferson, the Director of the State of Washington Office of Public Defense, grew up in a domestic violence home. Ultimately his mother escaped the abuse and embarked on a collegiate life. She included Larry in the journey for knowledge. Sparking Larry's thirst for education and eventually his pursuit of a law degree. Upon passing the Bar and entering the legal field Larry found a passion for defending disadvantaged Americans against the vast resources of the government. Coming to discern the considerable inequities and injustices facing minorities, the impoverished, and the mentally disordered. That discernment inspired Larry to reach the highest Office for Public Defenders and to implement reforms. One of his most notable reforms was to require Public Defenders to acquire historical information on each Client. Such a reasonable requirement ensures Clients root causes are ascertained and addressed. Additionally the background information enabled Public Defenders to present a holistic report on the childhood, cultural, or environmental traumas that led the Offender to the Courtroom. Prior to this reform the prosecution had an unfettered monopoly on Offender's narrative. Taking the truth and facts back for the benefit of troubled Americans is the first step to humanizing our people. Offering mitigation to explain how the past traumas manifested into the current bad criminal decisions. This revolutionary reform for thoroughness did not occur until Larry pushed for the policy. Larry imparted many more ideas and solutions, such as restorative justice, and other alternatives to mass incarceration. This is a very important episode for anyone interested in justice, fairness, or solutions on a better future for the American people. Foremost is ending the failed "hard-on-crime" ideologies, ushering in an effective "smart-on-crime" paradigm shift, that focuses on rehabilitation, restoration, and reentry. The United States needs more fierce advocates like Larry. His passion is easily discernable. This open and frank conversation will open your eyes to the plague of mass incarceration and the new innovative solutions to obtain true justice for all parties. S1 Ep 33REDEMPTION: FROM CRIME TO CIVIC SERVICE - With Guest Victor Gonzalez

E

Victor Gonzalez cousin killed a man. They then decapitated, and fed his victim to pigs on a farm in Oregon. The man had tried to rob and potentially murder Victor so he acted in self-defense. This compelling and provocative story will reveal the traumatic events that led to Victor's life of crime and imprisonment. Demonstrating the great need for treatment of root causes and higher educational career trainings. Each stage of the juvenile and adult criminal-justice system failed Victor and society. The system has an adverse incentive to incarcerate more Americans for longer sentences. Slavery has been a plague on society since the founding of the Nation. Now slavery has infested every level of criminal-justice policy and it needs to be disrupted. Victor's harrowing true story of severe childhood trauma, foster care, and juvenile institutions will shock you. Laying the corrupt trauma-to-prison pipeline bare for all to see. The system had ample time and opportunity to rehabilitate Victor yet failed him and society. Focusing on stealing Victor's slave labor rather than restoration. Ultimately the desensitization to violence from childhood to the criminal-justice system led to a brutal killing. Thankfully Victor chose to refocus his priorities by self-rehabilitating himself. Now Victor is on a mission to prevent future generations from enduring the horrors he suffered. His podcast, Resilient Minds, seeks to illustrate the power of our minds, the absolute failure of the current mass incarceration system, solutions on how to reform it, and stories meant to educate others on many varying topics. Please join us as we delve into this bloody horrific tale that ends with Victor becoming civic treasure.DefundDOC.net can not obtain systemic change without you. S1 Ep 32FOOTBALL TEAM-UP: FORMER NFL PLAYER, INNOCENT MAN, AND DEFUNDDOC.NET ARE TACKLING INJUSTICE (Part One) - With Jason Charles & Raymond Fisher

Former Indianapolis Colts player, Raymond Fisher, has joined the DefundDOC.net community podcast to broadcast the unjust prolonged incarceration of Jason Charles. In 2004 Jason was a normal working class citizen living in Ohio when his world was turned upside down. A relative high on drugs pulled a gun out on Jason and began firing. Without thought Jason reacted by grabbing a firearm and self-defending himself. Thankfully Jasons bullets struck his attacker and stopped the threat to his life. It was a clear case of self-defense. For those with wealth or power it would of quickly been ruled a self-defense matter and dismissed as such. If you are Black or poor however that is not the case. Which was the unfair inequity that Jason had to contend with. Instead of being treated like a victim Jason was criminalized and viewed as any other criminal defendant. Arrested. Stripped naked, visually raped, and booked into the County Jail. Then prosecuted as harshly as possible. Jason spent an alarming five years in the County Jail as he awaited his day of Trial. His Court appointed attorney, Michael J. Duff, did not adequately defend Jason. Instead Mr. Duff steadily pressured Jason into taking a plea bargain. A first year law student could of proven a self-defense case. Yet Jasons Public Defender only focus was to churn cases. The more cases Public Defenders churn the more funds they receive. As we have seen time and time again innocent people plead guilty. Coercion by attorneys, the duress of jail conditions, and the genuine threat of a long prison sentence, all culminates in innocent people pleading guilty. Despite Jason's complete innocence he buckled under the pressure. Taking a plea under duress. Believing he would be incarcerated a total of eighteen years. Yet when his parole board hearing came up the Parole Board Members used his past infractions as a pretext to keep him imprisoned. A prior prison altercation that Jason deeply regretted stemming from the harsh realities of institutional life was used unfairly to deny his parole. Disregarding the extraordinary claims of self-defense. Dismissing Jasons heartrending cries to reunite with his innocent children. And rejecting Jasons Supporter's voices asking for mercy. Supporters like retired professional football player Raymond Fisher. Outrageously decreeing Jason spend another ten years incarcerated. Such a ruling is tantamount to a slow death sentence. Listening to this remarkable tale of injustice will open your mind to the incalculable harm our current mass incarceration system inflicts on our people. If you would like to examine the vast trove of legal documents that support Jason's claims of innocence by self-defense DefundDOC.net has collected them. Click here. Please message, post, and share on social media recommending your family and friends to join the DefundDOC.net community podcast. Our nonpartisan social justice mission is to provide facts about the state of affairs in U.S. prisons. To break stereotypes. And share solutions on how to improve conditions while reducing recidivism. We strive to serve our community members with truth, honesty, and hard work. In this compelling episode of "Targeted: Daniel Simms' Fight Against Retaliation in Prisons," host Daniel Simms shares his harrowing experiences just one week after re-filing a civil rights lawsuit against the AHCC facility. As he faces an alarming level of psychological abuse from certain officers who are personally biased against him, Simms recounts a series of troubling incidents that exemplify the retaliation he’s enduring. From being unjustly written up for a minor infraction while sleeping to facing disciplinary action after choosing a video visit with his wife over voluntary programming, the narrative reveals a disturbing pattern of harassment. Simms also highlights the role of Sergeant Eastep, who has openly expressed his disdain for him, in the decision-making process regarding his infractions.Join us as Daniel delves into the details of his fight for justice and the systemic issues within the prison system. S1 Ep 30DIESEL THERAPY: ANTHEMS FOR OUR GENERATION

Grand release of the underground hip-hop Diesel Therapy album has passed. Virtually no albums were sold. The financial loss of the album and other DefundDOC.net initiatives could lead to bankruptcy. But failure is not an option. The Defund D.O.C. movement is bigger than its costs. So we will pinch pennies. Humble ourselves, pray for miracles, and continuing serving our community. As a self-funded social justice mission that seeks systemic change we know it will be hard. We are committed to the mission. Committed to you and all our people. To pay our expensive platform bills we wanted to share the Diesel Therapy songs one more time. If you don't find a song you like, identify with, or enjoy then it will be a surprise. Listen to all eleven tracks in this episode and you will most likely agree. And what adds even more power is how incredibly substantive the lyrics are. Sitting in your car driving down the road internalizing the struggles of our people will open your eyes and change many hearts. Another incentive to get the album is that for all of September DefundDOC.net is giving away three books, "Hopeless in Seattle: A Fosterkid's Manifesto," "The Art of Living: Everything You Need to Achieve Success in Life and Business, I Learned in Prison," and "Defund D.O.C.: Turning All Prisons Into Treatment and Career Centers," all for free! This is a limited time offer. Remember you can only get the album at DefundDOC.net/music-album. We are still growing the Defund D.O.C. movement and greatly need others to like, share, and repost DefundDOC.net content. Please consider writing reviews on whatever platform you listen to this podcast on. That will increase the ability of others find our podcast. Our hope and prayer is that we raise the National profile of the Defund D.O.C. movement so that systemic change can be debated. Co-host Daniel J. Simms petition for resentencing has been denied by silence. If you are poor and without attorneys you don't even merit a proper denial letter. This is the second time Daniel has applied for resentencing or clemency and both times they simply did not reply. Daniel is resigned to the fact he may die in prison but he refuses to give up. Currently he is exploring new avenues in the Courts. Regardless many people believe Daniel is being murdered by the State. Therefore we need advocates and supporters to write letters and emails to help obtain his freedom. If you are interested please contact us today.

S1 Ep 29RECYCLED FUTURES - YOUTH INCARCERATED AS ADULTS: WILL SOCIETY EVER SHOW AS MUCH PASSION AND INTEREST RECYCLING AMERICANS AS THEY DO RECYCLING GARBAGE? - With Guest Landis Reynolds

Landis Reynolds was a child, a teenager, when the State unfairly sentenced him to a slow death sentence. Sentencing children to die in prisons across the country made the United States an outlier in the civilized world. Virtually no other Nation in the world forecloses children to die in prison. Thankfully the judicial system has finally caught up to the undisputable science that children brains are not fully formed. Children are incapable of comprehending impacts on victims, potential criminal consequences, and even how their actions may affect others including their own family members. Most reasonable minded people would admit to the incontrovertible truth that children are less culpable. Natural law testifies to such an unassailable fact. Yet legislators, judges, prosecutors, and many others ignore the truth and continue to sentence children harshly. For instance, brain scan imagery has proven that the frontal lobe does not form the synapse connections required for fully matured thinking until after age twenty-five years old. So it is not until one is twenty-six years old that one should be held fully culpable under the law. Nevertheless many States, including Washington, have glossed over that scientific fact. Only extending youthfulness to those close to the archaic age of eighteen. That ancient benchmark was arbitrary. Eighteen years old is not some magical age when minds are mature enough to handle scenarios better. Brain imagery has proven that a falsity. The proper age is twenty-six years old. Therefore Landis wrote a book detailing a new way forward. He has embarked on a mission to educate. To break stereotypes. And refocus the National policy conversations away from demagoguery and towards science based approaches. Landis shares his compelling stories of prison life, rehabilitation, and redemption. While also dreaming for mercy, forgiveness, and freedom. Landis profound episode is one you will not soon forget. Listen to the hidden jewel wrongly warehoused in prison. Perhaps afterwards you will understand how very evil and corrupt the criminal justice system is today. The deeply meaningful underground, Diesel Therapy, album has been released! S1 Ep 27BOOKS BY PRISONERS: OVERCOMING STIGMA, ACHIEVING REDEMPTION - With Guest Ken Passaro

In this explosive episode we interview Cadmus Publishing owner, Ken Passaro, as he shares his remarkable story and how he ended up in the publishing business. A product of a broken home, fatherless, and struggling with traumas Ken found himself piped into prison just like millions of other Americans. While in prison his labor was exploited and wages stolen, treatment and educational options were practically nonexistent, he was surrounded by violence and guard brutality, and he was released in severe poverty. Which is essentially the story of millions of fellow troubled Americans. Unlike masses of other released prisoners Ken self-rehabilitated himself. Striving arduously to discover true peace, productivity, and happiness despite mass incarceration's deep adverse impact on his life. Finding his Higher Power was the key to his redemption. Now he is dedicated to freeing the voices of prisoner authors. Unleashing the untapped potential of our troubled people so that their words can break stereotypes and disrupt the evil mass incarceration system.Co-host, Daniel J. Simms, Petition for Resentencing filed with Leesa Manion, the King County Prosecutor, is still pending. Daniel has been incarcerated since February 2006 for a botched drug deal (See: State of Washington v. Daniel J. Simms). No one was severely hurt. No one was murdered. No one was sexually assaulted. Yet Daniel is being murdered by the State with an egregiously long sentence. Daniel's rehabilitation is beyond extraordinary, with three published books, a podcast, blog, and countless certificates including as a Certified Paralegal, the ends of justice would be best served mercifully freeing him. That is why Daniel direly needs advocates and supporters to lobby Leesa Manion's Office for Resentencing. Please contact DefundDOC.net to help, or contact the King County Prosecutor's Office directly at www.KingCountyProsecutorOffice.gov/LeesaManion. Thank you.
