As a graduate of the University of Wyoming, Tommy taught music in public, private, and charter schools between 1995 and 2009. In 2010, he led the startup of Paramount Schools of Excellence and is now the CEO of the organization, serving more than 250 employees and 2100 students in the state of Indiana. In 2019, Tommy co-published a book for new school leaders called, Lead From the Start. Tommy is also an avid foodie and started the cheesemaking program at Paramount Schools, the annual Perfect Bite Championships, and the Junior Chef Academy for middle school students. Tommy is the president of Kelly’s Fund, a non-profit set up as a memorial to his late wife Kelly Wensing to promote her lifelong commitment to the community and the service industry. Since the Pandemic, Kelly’s Fund has worked with area partners to raise more than $50,000 for local chefs and for the Greg Hardesty Scholarship Fund at Ivy Tech.
