The southern rock lobster (Jasus edwardsii)—also called red rock lobster or spiny rock lobster, is a species of spiny lobster found throughout the coastal waters of southern Australia and New Zealand.

Trade in live exports of rock lobster exploded in the early 1980’s as the lobsters were discovered by discerning diners in China and Hong Kong. and now accounts for the majority of shipments out of Australia.

It is a fishery with a proud tradition of being at the forefront of innovation in both catching, handling and marketing.

Andrew Ferguson is a career lobsterman who typifies the creativity, professionalism and innovation of this exciting fishery.
