Growing up on one of the 7000+ islands of the Philippines, food was at the heart of community and family for Adrianne de Jesus Davo (Queenies, ACT). Although she never imagined a career in food, a moment where she was thrown into a commercial kitchen lit a fire in her belly to explore her creative side in hospitality. She worked in hard kitchens, finding inspiration in some, but when a chef told her she would never make it as a chef, instead of giving up it drove her to a new level and now she is carving out her own name amongst the throng of new wave eateries to emerge in Canberra’s dining scene.
