Ep 141Exploring the Next Frontier: a Deep Dive Into Peptides with Jean Francois Tremblay

E

Peptides and performance enhancing drugs are an often-misunderstood topic. Jean-Francois Tremblay discusses the differences between SARMs and Peptides, the repairing peptides (BPC157), growth hormone, and many others.Who is Jean-Francois Tremblay? Jean-François Tremblay studied Exercise Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacy. He is now, a student and researcher at UQAM. He has been researching (in theory and in practice) peptides and SARMS since the 90s and published multiple studies on this matter, based on his own research. He had been studying the theoretical basis on what peptides are and their practical applications in sports performance, anti-aging, and health in general. His most recent work has been based on the premisses that the loss of muscle function (loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia), muscle strength (dynapenia) and muscle quality (muscle strength / mass)) begins at the age of 30 and continues exponentially with age in all the individuals. The mechanisms responsible for the loss of muscle function in the elderly are not yet well known, but probably involve various systems (physiological and neuromuscular) and this, in particular, is the main object of study of the CanLab laboratory. Jean Francois Tremblay is a biochemist that has dealt with peptide, SARMS, both in theory and in practice since the early 1990s.Highlights[3:23] What are peptides[8:18] The various effects that peptides can provide for people[13:32] The FDA and a potential for Peptide Bans.[29:00] Cycling Peptides[33:54] Applications for BPC 157[47:00] The effects of Melanotan II[57:11] Discussing growth hormone[1:13:17] Dosing[1:21:50] Downsides[1:23:41] SourcingResourcesBPC 157 and Blood VesselsMelanocortin receptor agonists, penile erection, and sexual motivation: human studies with Melanotan IIIpamorelin, the first selective growth hormone secretagogueHow to Live Forever with Dr. Aubrey de GreyOura RingFitbit AltaLife Extension: A Practical Scientific ApproachOur sponsor today is CAR.O.L You don’t have time for that 45 minute jog.You need something fast, efficient, and leaves you wanting more. My favorite tool for this is the CAR.O.L. Ep 135The Amazing Health Benefits Of Algae with Catharine Arnston

Let's discuss all things algae. We dive deep into chlorella and spirulina discussing the benefits of both. Catherine Arnston joins the show to speak about the use and the effect on algae in different diets. Who is Catharine Arnston?Catharine Arnston started ENERGYbits after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and advised by her oncologist that an alkaline diet would help her heal. Catharine immediately sprung into action to help her sister research alkaline foods and in the process she discovered algae. When Catharine learned that algae was the most alkaline, plant-based, nutrient-dense food in the world and had been used for fifty years in Asia to improve health and longevity, she knew she had discovered something big (and yes, her sister fully recovered - thanks for asking). As Catharine dug into the science of algae, she learned it had 64% protein, 40 vitamins/minerals and was endorsed by the United Nations and NASA as the most nutrient-dense food in the world. She also discovered there were 100,000 studies documenting its long list of benefits and it was the most sustainable, eco-friendly food crop in the world. And yet algae remained virtually unknown outside of Asia. How could this be possible? Catharine knew algae could be a game-changer for our health, our children and our world if she could only convince people it wasn't weird. And so ENERGYbits was born. It took Catharine eight years to bring algae into the mainstream and build ENERGYbits into a national company. We're glad she finally did because now you and your family can benefit from our naturally grown, toxin-free, Non-GMO algae tablets too. A handful will help satisfy your hunger, help give you steady energy, and help ensure your nutritional needs are met. All this from a food that has one ingredient, no chemicals, caffeine, sugar or processing and is the most sustainable, safe, eco-friendly, crop in the world - algae.Highlights[2:30] What is algae and why should it be a part of a human’s diet?[6:30] The differences between algae and seaweed[8:10] Overview of spirulina[15:41] The health benefits of chlorella [25:57] How did Catharine get into algae?[31:50] The process of cracking the hard cell wall of chlorella[37:23] How can we get K2 from algae?[42:29] What are phytonutrients?[54:06] Catharine’s opinion on the UN investigating spirulina as a solution to world hunger ResourcesThe Summit LAAlgae Nutrition Chart Energy Bits - Use Code SUPERHUMAN for a discountSponsorsToday, so many health issues come from a lack of nutrients in our agriculture. Ep 133How to Live Forever with Dr. Aubrey de Grey

This episode will take you through Dr. Aubrey de Grey’s Seven Pillars of aging, the research that he's currently doing, his opinion on biological age, AGEs and the different sources, and the impact of growth hormone on biological age.Who is Dr. Aubrey de Grey?Aubrey de Grey is an English author and biomedical gerontologist. He is the Chief Science Officer of the SENS Research Foundation and VP of New Technology Discovery at AgeX Therapeutics, Inc.He is the editor-in-chief of the academic journal Rejuvenation Research, author of The Mitochondrial Free Radical Theory of Aging and co-author of Ending Aging. He is known for his view that medical technology may enable human beings alive today not to die from age-related causes. He is also an amateur mathematician who has contributed to the study of the Hadwiger–Nelson problem. His research focuses on whether regenerative medicine can prevent the aging process. He works on the development of what he calls "Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence" (SENS), a collection of proposed techniques to rejuvenate the human body and stop aging. To this end, he has identified seven types of molecular and cellular damage caused by essential metabolic processes. Ep 123The Holobiont Hacker: Part 2 with Dr. Ted Achacoso

This is part two of an interview with Dr. Ted Achacoso. Dr. Achacoso continues to blow me away with his knowledge and ability to make complexity fun. Part two includes deep dives into nootropics, Health Optimization Medicine, Blue Cannatine, and microdosing.Who is Dr. Ted Achacoso? Dr. Ted Achacoso earned his college degree in Biology at the age of 18 and his Doctor of Medicine degree at the age of 22. At 25, he was a fellow of interventional neuroradiology, a research professor of pharmacology and toxicology, and a clinical professor of neurology in Manila. At 28, he became a professor of medical informatics and of interventional neuroradiology in Washington, DC, where he also performed artificial intelligence research biased towards connectionist systems. At 30, he began science and technology consulting for socially responsible investment funds. At 35, he founded and ran a group collaboration software company and created the first wireless groupware. At 40 he traded currencies using artificial intelligence predictive techniques for a private fund. At 45, he retrained in Interventional Endocrinology (Anti-Aging Medicine) and in Nutritional Medicine in Paris, and became double board-certified in both specialties. Dr. Ted wrote the first-ever connectome (of C. elegans) in a book, is published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, holds US patents and software algorithms, provides TV and podcast interviews, and delivers lectures. He currently has a tri-continental practice in Health Optimization Medicine (HOMe), a clinical framework that he pioneered to include health management in a disease management practice. He also formulated the Blue Cannatine nootropic troche, a product in the Troscriptions line of Smarter Not Harder, Inc.What is HOMe? Health Optimization Medicine (HOMe) is a new specialty that takes care of the health of the basic cell that is common to all cells in the body --- the nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria and other organelles, cell membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, cytoplasm, microtubules, etc --- which forms the base of specialized cells like muscle cells and neurons, and which in turn, makes up the specialized organs in the body like the heart and the brain. HOMe is for physicians and HOPe (Health Optimization Practice) is for non-physician healthcare practitioners.“Illness Medicine” diagnoses and treats disease at the level of the organ, for example, cardiology and neurology. In contrast, “Health Optimization Medicine” detects and corrects imbalances at the level of the metabolome, for example, intra-cellular mitochondrial metabolites, extra-cellular microbial metabolites, and inter-cellular neurohormones. HOMe and HOPe use the sciences of Clinical Metabolomics, Epigenetics, Bioenergetics, Gut Immune System, Exposomics, Chronobiology, and Evolutionary Medicine – subjects currently not taught in medical and allied health schools. The science of HOMe/HOPe is “network-wide range shifting,” meaning shifting the objectively detected levels of metabolites, especially of the major hormone and nutrient networks, into the optimal ranges seen in healthy adults aged 21 to 30. This means that HOMe/HOPe does not use the same reference ranges for laboratory tests used in Illness Medicine, for example, for hyper- or hypothyroidism. This also means that an entire metabolic subnetwork of values is shifted and not just one value, for example, in nutrient optimization, Vitamin E is never given singly but always in relation to the measured levels of all the other major antioxidants in the Antioxidant Regeneration Pathway. Since manipulating one node within a network contextually affects the other nodes to which it is connected, the art of HOMe/HOPe is in manipulating the metabolic subnetwork such that borderline deficiencies and subtle toxicities are corrected to the point of concomitant subjective increase in well-being and health, for example, experiencing increased libido and decreased frequency of self-limiting infectious illnesses.Whereas Illness Medicine is after diagnosis and treatment of disease, lifespan, and quantity, Health Optimization Medicine and Practice is after detection and correction of imbalances, healthspan, and quality. Illness Medicine asks for Immortality. Health Optimization Medicine and Practice asks for Eternal Youth. Together they provide the full spectrum of health care.Highlights[2:57] The difference between Health Optimization Medicine and Functional Medicine[7:12] What role hormones play in Health Optimization Medicine[8:50] Work-life balance vs. work-life integration[14:55] Self-awareness as a metric[18:02] Peptides as a tool for optimization[21:46] Addressing concerns around exogenous growth hormone[24:41] Nootropics[28:18] What happens when you take nootropics without getting the foundations right[32:01] Designing the perfect experiment for microdosing LSD[37:39] Dr. Ted's nootropic formulation, Blue Cannatine[47:21] Dr. Ted answers the Superhuman 6ResourcesHealth Optimizati

Ep 121The Holobiont Hacker: Part 1 with Dr. Ted Achacoso

This is part one of a two-part episode with Dr. Ted Achacoso. In this recording, Dr. Achacoso blows me away with his ability to distill knowledge into actionable and usable information. Part one is a discussion around complex systems, consciousness, health optimization medicine, and eliminating jet lag.Who is Dr. Ted Achacoso?Dr. He also formulated the Blue Cannatine nootropic troche, a product in the Troscriptions line of Smarter Not Harder, Inc.What is Health Optimization Medicine (HOMe)?Health Optimization Medicine (HOMe) is a new specialty that takes care of the health of the basic cell that is common to all cells in the body --- the nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria and other organelles, cell membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, cytoplasm, microtubules, etc --- which forms the base of specialized cells like muscle cells and neurons, and which in turn, makes up the specialized organs in the body like the heart and the brain. Together they provide the full spectrum of health care.Highlights[10:02] The tools required to eliminate jet lag[19:59] Curiosity as a continuous motivator [25:03] 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon and mapping your nervous system[32:23] Holobiont vs. Super Organism[37:58] The mathematics of consciousness [47:18] Defining Health Optimization Medicine[59:24] Anti-aging and being optimized and ripped at age 58ResourcesHealth Optimization MedicineBlue CannatineComputer Representation of the Synaptic Connectivity of CaenorhabditisElegansScaling up the nervous system of Caenorhabditis elega
