Color Drenching Deep Dive

In this episode we talk about the trend of the year, which we saw coming down Runway for sure in 2024 and some in 2023, and it’s called the Color Drench. This episode will unpack what this is and where to do it, how to do it, how we’re doing it, and we’re gonna share 5 projects that have been shot. We’ve been practicing this for probably the last 9 years and we didn’t know what it was called back then, but now we do and it’s awesome. Halloween candy 1:00 The trend of the year 3:00 Our favorite colors and where to color drench 4:00 Is your favorite color best for wearing or just to look at? 8:00 The definition of the Color Drench 13:00 Locations for color drenching 23:30 A bedroom one of our designers did 27:00 The mud room, pantry, and butler’s pantry 34:00 Rachel and Drew Parcel’s library 41:20 “As color drenching goes well beyond the simple accent wall like a monochromatic fantasy, the trend is all about a full-on single hue explosion across all surface levels in a room. In addition to the walls and ceilings, many objects and insulations such as window treatments and light fixtures get the same color treatment. However, a single color treatment doesn’t mean monotony. When color drenching a room, many designers opt to play around with the paints’ finish, mixing them both gloss and matte across a variety of textures such as wood or plaster to create greater interest.” 13:10 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. This is episode 3 in a 3 part series of us talking about wallpapers. This week we talk about the textured wallpapers and the grasscloths. It is really dimensional and I don’t know how else to describe it, it’s almost leaf-like, but it looks like it bends in the back of her closet.” 10:35 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. The Wallpaper Series | Part 2: Patterns

This is episode 2 in a 3 part series of us talking about wallpapers. Today we talk about patterns and what the most common things we see are, like the paisley pattern you saw everywhere back in the 90s, and then we also discuss murals and go over visuals, which you can totally go see yourself if you watch us on our YouTube channel. Patterns we just cannot do anymore 1:45 Patterns are less expensive than murals 8:45 Some examples of complicated installations 12:50 Kravit, a lovely client 21:00 Coastal contemporary house 26:50 Toile 28:20 Schumacher bathroom 30:00 “You can’t just measure the square footage and think like, OK that equals the amount of square footage that’s in this roll, especially with the pattern because there is a calculation of how much waste you need, dependent on the pattern. He can even give me a fast number because it depends on the pattern and the space and each time it’s different. Just know that you’re gonna have a lot of waste, but if you want it installed correctly, it’s part of the game to make sure it matches correctly.” 36:05 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. The Wallpaper Series | Part 1: Murals

We have a really fantastic set of episodes for you guys. This is episode 1 of a series of wallpaper episodes after we were working in the craftings segment of the podcast and realized there are so many ideas, thoughts, and things to unpack about wallpapers, so we’re breaking this up into 3 episodes: Murals, Patterns, and Textures. Those of you who have been wanting to get into the wallpaper scene are going to love this episode because we’re going to be sharing our favorite resources, including thoughts from our favorite wallpaper installer. We’re going to be sharing projects and showing the different types of papers to help you illustrate this, which you’ll be able to see over on our YouTube channel. Wallpaper is in 2:00 Our ideal scenes 5:30 Accent walls and what to do 11:10 Choosing the accent paint color 18:00 Great lines to use 21:00 Another great wallpaper 30:45 Gucci 34:55 Porter Teleo 41:20 “We would put our paint deck down on that sample from Gracie to choose the exact shade of blue to paint the moldings if you wanted that color to continue, if you were doing moldings with it. In the case of Rachel’s she has white moldings, but she also has white floral trees in this scene, so that looks really great. And then in Isla Rose’s bedroom, she has a white field, so we did white crown and base in this room.” 18:15 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Alice Lane Interior Design | All About Our Latest Project, Capital Heights

In this episode we talk about one of the coolest projects we’ve ever done. We get a lot of inquiries from our listeners asking why we don’t talk about our own projects more, so today we decided to dive right in and give you a peek into what we have been working on at Alice Lane. This Capitol Heights project we’re doing is just happening to hit newsstands here in Utah and is getting published in Utah Style and Design, and it’s a project we are so excited about and proud of. Intro 0:00 The most nerve racking things we’ve committed clients to do 1:35 Our Capitol Heights project 8:30 The entry 11:30 The red library 19:40 Light switches 26:30 The dining room 27:10 Living room 30:00 “She just wanted a space where she could just sit, and there was no TV in there, but she could write letters, have a conversation, so we did this beautiful pullup table up to the sofa, and then there’s a lot of seating. You have a sofa, 2 beautiful chairs. It feels very much like a his and hers moment on the chairs, and then we have this beautiful mohair daybed kinda splitting the area with an antique rug.” 30:27 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Designer Rules | How to Display Family Photographs

Today is gonna be the funniest podcast because we got a funny question from one of their listeners who wrote in and asked “Throughout your many years of working on residential projects, how do you see family portraits fitting into your interior design?” We have since discovered that we have some pretty strong opinions on this. We all grew up in a time when mothers only decorated in family photos and didn’t bother so much with other decorations. So in light of that, we will be sharing with you our strong opinions we have on this specific topic today. Intro 0:00 Least favorite dress code for family photos 1:45 How Sue’s mom displayed their photos 9:30 The entryway 20:00 Cori’s photo story 24:40 “I also really think that things are pretty if they’re in a slim wood frame, or in a beautiful silver frame, or like a ‘gilver.’ Golds are fickle, they kind of come and go, but that’s what I love about the crystal. It’s just so everlasting and it does disappear and will get along with the other ones if you’re really gonna layer it up.” 29:20 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. The Fall Refresh | Our Favorite Seasonal Updates

We feel like most people love Fall time the most out of the 4 seasons because it’s just the perfect place for temperature, for gathering, it gets a little darker, the nights are more crisp, you can sleep with your window cracked, and it’s just a very romantic time. The smells, the sounds, the sights, everything just feels richer, and even the fashion with all the layers you can pull on, people can really dress in the Fall. In this episode we talk about our favorite Fall updates. We each have our things we do for our homes and also for ourselves to signal the change of the seasons, so we hope you can tune in and gain some great insights into what you could do for your own home. Play Up Your Strengths | Celebrating The Best Parts of Your Home

Today the Dear Alice trio talks about how to play up your strengths. Everyone has the things that they dislike about their homes, the things they could change, etc., but Dear Alice wants to flip that on its head and talk about the things that we all love, how to play to those strengths in our homes, and how as individuals can break those metaphorical walls down and really get to the base desires of what people want. Intro 0:00 Our super powers 2:00 Sue’s favorite part about her house 6:30 Cori’s strengths 11:00 Jess’s favorite parts of her house 14:00 You want a reaction 24:50 The entryway 26:20 Sue’s home and space planning 34:40 Cori’s powder bath 36:40 Jess’s primary bath 43:45 “It’s worth getting right because it’s an entry and it’s how people are going to experience coming to your home, or coming to a party and knocking on that door, and smelling honeysuckle, being in this cool little tunnel with a gate and this bright little door, or whatever your plans are for that. I just think it’s such a cool opportunity to take something that’s OK now but make it a strength.” 20:19 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. How to Upgrade a Builder Basic Home | Our Top 12 Ideas

Today the gang is talking about those upgrades for a builder basic home. If you’re getting ready to build a home, you’re going to go with a big builder and he has a little center where you can pick out your paint, countertops and tile, and you only have a few selections. It’s like your build-a-bear. They get into how as designers they would “build the bear” or how they have in the past and how to work the system. Intro 0:00 The first time we owned a home or really invested 1:05 Cabinetry 9:20 The hood 16:00 Countertops 20:15 Custom counter edge 21:50 Lighting 24:40 Outlets 29:50 Fireplaces 32:30 Mirrors 36:40 The accent wall 38:20 The power of paint 40:25 Carpet pad 41:40 Appliances 43:30 Blinds 47:00 “In a builder basic home, you might have $10K or something. Do not spend your 10K on their bad lighting. You keep that, you pocket that, you put it into something else in the home, and then you just spend your own $10K wisely, and then you can add to that as you want to put more lights in the home.” 26:57 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. The Great Big Wall | Our Top 5 Designer Ideas

What to do with this great big wall. We get this question a lot where someone has a big wall and doesn't know what to do with it. In this episode the Alice Lane Trio talks about the built-ins, the big stairwell wall, the window wall, and the 5 different spaces in the home that we most commonly get asked this question for on how to address that big wall, what we do with it, and how we help direct our clients in what to collect, if they should do built-ins at all, or if they’re not a good candidate for some of these things. Favorite thing to collect during travels 1:05 Built-ins 12:25 The wall of windows 23:20 The 2 story fireplace 30:30 The wall behind the TV 37:45 The stairwell 41:05 “We buy a lot of beautiful, one of a kind antique rugs for the store and we have them framed. So be it in a real frame, or we have also have them raw hanging on the wall, and both are just so beautiful. It just gives this importance and craft to this beautiful art. These are hand done and some of them are hundreds and hundreds of years old, so it’s a nice way to mix up the medium on your wall and add a lot of interest and scale to these massive walls.” 45:54 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. The Command Center | Designing the Hardest Working Space in a Home

Today the trio talks about the hardest working space in the home, which is the command center. Not everyone has one, but it is a desire of all of our female clients. Often it’s a stay-at-home mom, or even the working mom at times, who needs a room where she can keep all her kids’ birthday invites, amazon boxes, school schedules, gifts, candles, shipping items, etc., and they dive into this exact subject today. Intro 0:00 We all need a command center 7:00 A great place for a lot of closed storage 11:45 The new build 13:45 Some fun examples 23:10 “In the new build, I would say that you’re gonna need a lot of closed storage. You can never have enough. You’ll want hidden storage to hide your tape, your gifts, your wrapping. The gifts because your kids are gonna come and try to find them, and it’s their birthday. You don’t wanna have to just be shopping the night before, right? Holiday gifts, all sorts of things, so I think hidden storage is really nice.” 13:48 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. THE BEST WAYS TO UPDATE AN OLDER HOME

This week we are doing kind of a part 2 on Sue’s emergency remodel and we thought it would be fun to talk about some of the best ways to update an older home. We have remodeled a lot of homes for people and we feel like there is a lot of magic in the walls. It’s really fun to think of the story and the history, and to think about what to highlight and pull away from, and then see what they’re reacting to. It feels like a chemistry experiment, psychologically. When you buy a remodel, you’re buying inherited architecture, which some of it is good, but some of it is not so good, and so it’s really just trying to understand this whole process of putting your own stamp on it and what that will look like to make it feel more you. How to get started 4:30 Paint 8:00 Lighting 13:00 Overgrout, German Schmear 18:20 Railing 22:30 Work with us 30:30 “I’m thinking of more of a mid century, 1950s, 60s, 70s home stacked rock, I don’t know if that works. If it’s a home that’s trying to feel European or something like that, then I think the overgrout works on the exterior, but if it’s mid century, it’s probably not gonna translate the same.” 12:53 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Suz's Emergency Remodel | From Start to Finish

Today is the day that we walk you through Suzanne Hall’s hardcore emergency remodel. She had a nice spread for us this episode of CAD drawings, sketches, before pictures, budgets, and after pictures. Sue shares from start to finish the emergency remodel and you will know what it cost her in the end, what she got for her money, and how she got there. If you’re living in a home that you’ve wanted to maybe tweak or update, and you never got around to it, look at those with brand new eyes today as if you’re walking through a brand new house that’s not yours because we are going to go back in time and do that with Sue’s house. Ep 110What We Love About French Designs | Let The Games Begin

We are talking about French design this week in honor of the French olympics that are starting. We feel like all eyes are on France right now and we couldn’t help but get in the spirit of things by talking about French design. When it comes to French fashion, we all wanna be effortless like the French girl, so that’s what we wanted to talk about in this episode is how to translate that into interiors. Every client wants to feel some French in their space, so we’re breaking down 5 different things you can do to bring it into your home. Ep 108Balancing Vintage and Contemporary | An Interview with Ariel Okin

This week we have a really fun guest on the show. She is someone that is known for mixing vintage with contemporary and her name is Ariel Okin and we talk with her about how she balances the old with the new. She is the founder of Ariel Okin Interiors, a full service design firm based in New York City. Her work has been featured in Arch Digest, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Domino, and Vogue, and she is the Editor and Chief of Fenimore Lane, an E-commerce and editorial website. Ariel hosts an amazing podcast called Talk Shop with Ariel Okin where she talks with some of the greats in our industry about design philosophies. Her style is feminine and traditional, grounded in historical elements while carrying a freshness that’s inviting and comfortable. Intro 0:00 Our signature moves that we look for as part of our work brand 0:45 Where she draws inspiration from 7:10 The origin of her love of vintage 10:45 Ariel’s formula 12:00 How much old is too much 13:20 Where to shop for vintage 15:00 Knowing when a room is complete 20:20 Pieces to start with 21:30 Dipping into her portfolio 24:00 The mud hall 30:50 Her podcast 33:00 “You have to shop around with vintage and antique. You have to physically go in and see it. You have to go into the shops. I think one of the most valuable pieces of advice that I’ve learned from chatting on our podcast too is you have to go out and shop in person. You have to touch the things, the fabrics, you have to sit on the sofas, feel the upholstery. Physically doing it is really important, especially and particularly with vintage.” 14:20 www.arielokin.com Instagram: @arielokin https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 106Outdoor Furnishings | 5 Designer Tips

This week we are going to talk about the elements of a well designed patio. We wanna really help you and set the stage for what your exterior experience will look like, so that you can throw a party and it feels authentic to you. We’re gonna show you some of the base rules that we tend to, to figure out what your style is outside, rules that help you know what to do and how to buy, and then why it works and creates this backdrop. This topic came to us after we were asked live by someone “OK, on outdoor spaces, do you buy the whole set, or do you kind of do it like the interior and mix and match?” So we thought it would be great to dedicate a whole episode to this topic and help you plan out your patio. Intro 0:00 Favorite seasons 0:30 Iron or wicker anchor pieces 11:00 Light vs dark wicker 18:30 Color of cushions 19:45 Jute rug 23:40 Pots and garden stools 26:45 The umbrella 32:00 “I feel like the longer I do design, the more I’m starting to really love the editor’s eye of restraint. Pulling back. Not being such a decorator that I’m trying to really mix and max to come up with some special formula that’s so tricky. I feel like the landscape is the hero in so many of the projects that we get to work on.” 11:54 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Join Jess, Suzanne and Cori as they flip through the Alice Lane portfolio to explain when & why to play it small…for a really smart, well-designed look. Shall we dance? The designer-client relationship is layered, long-lasting…and should be one you absolutely enjoy! From compensation to the approval process, listen along as they hit home answers to all of your common questions and curiosities. We’re here to help you get it right! The tile drawings are all drawn in CAD. Every single thing is specified, we've got finish schedules, so you’re gonna wanna see examples of what that looks like and know that the work your designer is doing is something they can hand off to their subs that they can go off and use these drawings to work with.” 13:55 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity https://www.alicelaneinteriordesign.com/interior-design-service-podcast-campaign https://alicelanehome.com/pages/home-furnishing-podcast-campaign News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 98Bed Styles | Navigating Trends and Timelessness

Come to bed! It’s the primary piece in the primary room of the home, and it deserves your best attention. This week on Dear Alice, we take on a viewer question about how to shop for a great headboard, in the face of all the trendy options. Winged, curved, low or four-poster…Jess, Suzanne and Cori breakdown your options, and share what they consider when giving clients the bed of their (sweet) dreams! Intro 0:00 Never would I ever 1:00 Trying to choose new king sized bed and what’s on trend 8:40 The long headboard 14:00 The 4 poster 22:00 Winged beds and curved beds 26:00 “So these are the things you want to avoid if you are buying a bed today because those were trending pretty hard at the time and you wanna look back and like something that you would have liked a decade ago, when it comes to your bed. I just feel like there’s just some universally beautiful things that you could get today, which would be at least a 60 inch high headboard, right? Not have too severe of a wing, but still a wing is pretty if you’re a traditional.” 28:08 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 96Design Lovers Tour | What to See, Taste, Try, and Do in Utah

Today’s topic comes from one of our listeners who said “I’m a huge fan, business owner, and designer in the events world. You 3 care about details with the same passion that I do. It’s so refreshing. Thank you for sharing the love and importance of design and function, especially in the home. We are planning a Summer trip to Park City and I would love your suggestions on favorite antique stores or galleries to visit while we’re in Utah. Of course we’ll be stopping in at Alice Lane while we’re there too.” in this episode we unpack this and revolve the whole podcast this week around this because it’s a great topic we think our listeners should know more about. Intro 0:00 Our happy places 1:00 Places to go in Park City, and Utah 11:00 Find your happy place and your happy pace 15:05 Visit us in Draper 15:30 Decades Vintage Shop (clothing) 17:00 Anthony’s Antiques 19:45 Capital Antiques 22:25 Park City Mainstreet, The Meyer Gallery 26:00 Kemosabe 27:30 Cake 30:00 Five5eeds 31:20 “I feel like the best vacations happen when you kind of just leave space to see what happens and where the wind takes you. Ep 84Alice Lane Interior Design | The Boldest Rooms We've Ever Done Part 2

This week we are going over our best, boldest spaces again, which is a continuation of our previous episode from last week. If you head on over to YouTube and find the “Alice Lane Home Collection” channel, you’ll be able to see a lot of the things we’re talking about to get a better understanding of these visuals we describe. Intro 0:00 Sue’s bathroom remodels 2:40 Tan France closet 8:50 The Barbie dream house 11:40 A beautiful remodel 18:10 House of Harrington 23:30 Rachel Parcel’s library 28:00 Tiger Oak home 30:25 “I think the coolest thing about that mirrored wall too is there wasn’t a tall enough wall to put a floor mirror, except for that big stair wall. The space isn’t like too big that you can’t stand on that railing and check yourself out and stuff. Ep 83Big Moves Part 1 | Our Favorite Bold Spaces We Have Done

You guys really wanted to know about the boldest spaces we’ve done, so this week we’re doing a deep dive on those spaces and how we got there. We sometimes talk about a project where we learned this or that on, but we got to go back through the Alice Lane books and really examine some of our greatest projects and if you visit our YouTube channel “Alice Lane Home Collection”, you’ll get to see some of the beautiful images we have for those projects. Intro 0:00 To The Trade program 2:20 A 5 year long project, 30,000 square feet 9:30 A remodel we’ve worked on recently, 40,000 sq feet 19:00 A current Dallas project 31:10 The kitchen 39:00 A geometric 46:30 “Here’s 40,000 square feet of home, there’s sitting areas everywhere and everybody just can’t wait to show you the chandelier room at the end of this house, and you go in there and you’re like ‘Oh here, have a seat, sit down, and experience it.’ and he pictured like 4 or 5 breakout conversations going on and just like kind of a hum of people talking, and it happens. You gravitate towards these awesome spaces and that’s where you wanna stand and be. Ep 92Let's Talk Chairs | Our Favorite Features

It's an instant party. It tells you what the room can be. There's no other way to say it: the chair is the hero in every space. So, now that you know how we really feel...let's talk chairs! In this week's episode of Dear Alice, we break down our favorite features of a really good chair (hint: it has to move!). Join Jess, Suzanne and Cori as we help you shop for the kind of chair that offers instant style points. Intro 0:00 Deciding what is coming home with you 1:10 Understanding this very critical furniture piece 9:30 The occasional chair 10:30 4 features of a chair you should buy 14:15 Back height and arm placement 23:15 The swivel chair 29:00 “You can kind of tailor all these different conversations because you do have a swivel. I can face the fireplace and talk to a friend, or I can look at the view, or I can go look at the game. You can be in charge of what you’re looking at and I think it’s just soothing. The older you get, the more you wanna move, or you’re probably just used to not sitting still, so it just gives you the ability to not sit still while still moving.” 29:23 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 94Influenced by Design | How Annie Meyers-Shyer Found Her Personal Style

This week we are super excited to share with you our podcast we did with Annie Meyers-Shyer, who is a force of her own. She is in the middle of a remodel originally built from a well known architect, Gerard Colcord, and it’s a 1940’s Pennsylvania Dutch style home. She’s in California and following her journey has been such a fun pastime. Annie is not a self-proclaimed interior designer, but she’s really treating this project like she is and it’s fun to watch and see her audience get involved as she takes this remodel step by step in the one million decisions that you have to make when doing a remodel. Join us today for this exciting conversation! Annie’s Mother’s Day question 8:50 Developing her style 12:45 Living in a home with little boys 23:00 Growing up in Hollywood on sets 26:10 Starting the Instagram account and describing her style 31:30 What decisions have really excited her 38:45 “My goal with our home is that it feels like us, like a young family who lives there. There aren’t gonna be formal rooms, I hope all of our rooms are used. We are definitely a family who loves comfortable things, so deep sofas and cozy rooms, and my kids' rooms are going to be colorful because they’re colorful, and the rest of the house less colorful. I love sort of a calm palette. I’m very into the color yellow, there’s a lot of yellow in this house–very happy.” 32:35 @thisoakhouse https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 90Spring Updates | 8 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Space

This week we’re doing a fun episode because this is that time of the year when many of us are craving that desire to refresh our living spaces and make things feel like a blank slate. We’re trying to figure out what we need to do to give our home some rebirth without burning it down and rebuilding a new house. Cori suggests a great idea, which is bringing out your collections and putting them on display to give your space a fresh touch while also putting that collection of yours to good use. Intro 0:00 A fun design challenge 4:45 Bringing out your collections to display 11:20 A new rug/runner 13:20 Do some painting 14:50 Art 19:00 Update the first thing your eye sees 21:40 “Update the first thing your eye sees when you walk in a room. I think that is your first impression, and so I feel like you’re gonna get a lot of credit for it because if you can walk in and see something different, that’s gonna do the most work for you if you’re not in the mood to rearrange your entire house.” 21:40 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 89Spring Flowers | Step-by-Step for Perfect Pots

On today’s episode we’re gonna take the intimidation out of a fun spring task and help you create front porch planters that wow. We have a very special guest on the show, Becky Nyman, who is Sue’s go-to person whenever she has any questions on gardening and plants. She’s a master gardener who has owned her own businesses and has been in the space for over 30 years. This time of year you see a lot of women dragging their pots into the nursery or garden shop to help them get their porch planters potted. Becky is gonna teach us how to make these decorative planters porch worthy. Intro 0:00 Meet Becky 2:20 Picking your pot 5:55 How deep the soil should be 13:00 Paying attention to the standup tags 19:10 Do what is pleasing to the eye 26:00 Different combinations 30:00 Favorite spiller 35:30 “Picking your pot is probably the most important thing that you want to do. You want to pick a pot that has drainage in it. Water can kills your plants faster than anything, and a lot of people don’t realize that. Overwatering kills plants faster than letting them dry out.” 5:56 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 86Listener Questions | Short Ceilings, Built-ins and Tough Design Decisions

“How do you help clients make design decisions?” “Are built-ins always a good idea?” “Can you help me decorate around my short ceilings?” On this episode of Dear Alice, the hosts circle up to answer the latest batch of listener questions, and - spoiler alert! - there are some good ones. Join Jess, Suzanne and Cori for your favorite conversation of the week! What our process is for coming up with ideas 9:00 Strategy for built-ins 18:15 Incorporating millwork 22:25 Shoe molding 29:40 Strategies for a coastal home to not feel like a beach house 33:30 Decorating with short ceilings 37:45 Fireplace mantle 42:15 Keeping the integrity of specific home styles 44:30 “I like my ceilings. Like right now, my ceilings are all the same color, whatever’s happening on the wall of that room. So in my public areas, they’re white. My floor is white and the ceiling’s white, it’s all the same finish, so it just feels continuous. There’s no stopping and starting. It really stretches the eye and kinda fakes it out that I’m not being drawn to a contrasting line or a colored wall is meeting up with a flat white on the ceiling. It keeps going and is just the best trick.” 39:10 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 81Real Estate Reality | Your Questions Answered

In this week’s episode we have again real estate guru Rob Corcoran with us. He has a high end boutique real estate firm where he relocates people all over the United States of America and he is really good, not just for Utah, but for all of you across the nation. We’ve had tons of questions come in from our social media channel and we wanted to take this second episode to be able to answer all of your questions that we have for Rob. Intro 0:00 Return for homeowners who sell staged and furnished homes 1:10 Young married couple saving for a home, FHA loan 4:10 Update or renovate a rental as an owner? 8:45 Is it a good decision to buy a home today? 13:20 How can couples afford a home in this market? 16:15 Buying in Utah 18:00 Unique and timeless designs, white kitchens 19:45 Replace or let buyer replace floor? 22:30 Negotiating a lower price 26:00 Finding a real estate agent 27:15 Non negotiables in selling a luxury home 29:50 Gauging pricing yourself out of your neighborhood with updates 32:00 Is a rental worth it if you don’t make much? 36:30 Keeping clients in budget 38:00 Priority updates 40:10 What’s happening to Airbnb’s 44:50 “Selling a home is all about how someone feels when they walk into it. Does it feel clean? Does it smell great? Is it bright? Am I gonna have to redo–we just sold a home recently that we had the entire, I told you the doors were painted. We also painted the entire inside of the house, had all the flooring done. They had lived there for 15 years, and it sells like that…selling a house is not just how you feel. Ep 79Real Estate Reality | What to Know About the New Norm

This week we have Rob Corcoran on the podcast, who is a real estate expert and has been a resident real estate agent for 24 years. One of our most successful podcasts of 2023 was one where we had a real estate expert come on, so we felt it would be great to do it again as people love it. The market is constantly changing, so Jess called Rob. He built a high end boutique that he sold in 2015 and kept the relocation division of the company, and then founded Influence Relocation, which has now expanded to over 50 markets across the USA from Miami to Alaska. Intro 0:00 Buyer confidence and the housing market right now 1:55 Market trends and economic indicators 5:00 Rates and credit 11:00 Can young people afford a home? 14:00 Do we still see mega mansions? Or smaller? 19:50 Landscaping 25:30 Top buzzwords, home offices 27:30 Staging 29:45 A seller’s or a buyer’s market? 32:15 Pricing a home or a lot 35:40 Buy a renovation or not? 40:00 Does making your home your own make it hard to resell? 44:10 Is investing in a home as a 2nd or 3rd home a good option right now? 46:15 Are Airbnb’s still a good investment? 55:00 “You should never buy a home if you only plan on owning it for less than 5 years. So if you plan on buying a home and only being around for say 3 years, I would advise you probably not to purchase. You could get bitten to shorts on that if you need to sell or get relocated by your company, whatever happens in your life, the odds are you might be paying to get rid of your home.” 49:40 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 77Let's Debate | Buy New vs Reupholster

In this week’s episode we are doing re-upholstering or refinishing vs buying new. This is an age-old debate where some people don’t think it’s worth going through the trouble of refinishing old items, but others see it as an effective way to make their items look new while also preserving maybe some of that vintage touch said item might convey. Don’t think you’re doing this to save money, but rather to preserve an older item that has special meaning to you. Intro 0:00 Re-upholstering vs buying new 3:25 Fabric prices for upholstery 8:30 There are ranges in cost 15:40 A time the investment was worth it 20:00 “It adds up with all of our projects. Once you really stare at the numbers, it just all adds up, so just know that you’re gonna spend more than you thought to cover everything, so just make sure it’s something you really, really want.” 11:44 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Join us today to hear what we have to say! Intro 0:00 Level up your front door 11:10 Dos and don’ts of mixing wood tones 16:30 Ratio of mirrors to art in a home 21:00 Finish for interior and exterior door knobs and hinges 24:15 Built-in shelves and coloring 27:30 Display your kids artwork 34:00 Biggest misconceptions or blindspots in purchasing home furnishings 38:10 “It depends on your preference operationally too, like if it’s something that you’re just gonna swing open and you never use that, except when guests come over and you’re using the mudroom entrance, and you just want it for aesthetics, beautiful. But just know that one is usually gonna stay closed and one is gonna be operative, and is that wide enough for people to come through? Or do you have to swing them open both times?” 12:24 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 72Our Unfiltered Opinions | Kitchen & Bath Trends for 2024

This week we wanted to talk about some trends we saw pop up in an Elle Decor article and we feel like we wanna fight back on some of these things they say are a big deal. So we’re going to break down this article and break down/debunk, or agree with some of these kitchen and bath trends. All of us, both who are hosting and listening to the podcast need a moment to figure out what’s true and what’s not because sometimes people are reporting on things and maybe have only asked one source, so we want to make sure that we are giving you our best information based on what we’re seeing since we’re on the front lines of design. We want you to be well equipped before you go and make these really expensive decisions based on what you read in an article. Intro 0:00 Breaking down the article 9:00 High gloss walls vs texture 10:10 Brown 13:15 Terracotta takeover 15:20 Is bouclé here to stay? 20:00 Curves meet straight lines 23:30 High tech lighting 26:50 Alternative materials will be the standard 29:40 Revival of Victorian era details 33:30 Layered understated lighting 36:40 Warm rich colors 37:50 High drama marble and stone 38:40 Butler’s pantry and storage galore 39:55 Outdoor kitchens in connection to nature 42:30 Induction cooktops 44:30 “There’s nothing more romantic than a pizza oven like, I think they’re so cute and it’s so fun to make homemade pizzas with your kids, it’s so much fun” “We did it last night. We just got a pizza oven and have just been using it way too much. It’s like making dinner, what we have to do anyway, but then it’s an activity at the same time. It’s memory making.” 43:58 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 71Finding Your Niche | Cultivating Your Design Style

Today we are talking about how you can find your own niche and cultivate your personal style. This is a podcast we feel everybody wants to know as they’re trying to figure out who they are when they’re trying to make these massive decisions for a home, whether you’re a new build, remodel, or maybe you’re just furnishing, it really needs to tie back to who you are, how you use that space, what nostalgic strings you want to pull, depending on if you really are sentimental. We keep seeing this topic pop up for people everywhere and have even listened to a couple of podcasts on this in fashion to really understand what some of the points are that people are making to help us cultivate our own style, so this is gonna be a fun one. 0:00 Intro The age of developing opinion 4:20 Feeling like you have imposter syndrome 27:00 Putting together an outfit for fashion week 31:45 Cori’s method 37:00 Who do you aspire to be? 40:45 Do what you want and don’t care about what Karen thinks 46:10 “So I go to the plumbing store and I’m like ‘OK, I like that suite, I think this is the finish I’ll go with.’ and then I put that actual faucet in there with the tile, with the cabinetry that I’m thinking and I’m like ‘Yep, that’s good. Send that over to the cabinet maker.’ and then I’ll get my hardware. It’s really easy. I’ll always try and figure out my art because that’s important to me too because I know that’s a part of my style. That’s a big North Star for me.” 30:20 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. We thought we should do an episode for you guys where when you are finally ready to make a remodeling move, or maybe you’re rearranging your furniture this year, you’ll know what to do with spacing and dimensions. Ep 679 Ways to Make Small Spaces Luxurious

This is a topic that came in from one of our listeners, which we thought was a great question and perfect to focus on in this episode this week. We’ve been at this for 4 years and feel like we’ve covered it all, but we’re having such a good time that we wanna keep the party going, so feel free to send us any questions, topics, or even guests that you want on, which you can send to [email protected]. Intro 0:00 Our free design service and a review 1:00 What are our favorite small spaces? 3:10 Painting stencils 8:30 Be insanely interesting in a small space 16:00 What to do with the ceiling 24:00 Real living finishes 32:00 Hardware 37:10 The mirror’s edge 42:40 Opinionated marble 43:30 Human element and displaying your collections 48:45 “The next thing we have is real living finishes. This is the most luxurious thing. We’re talking about using real stone, real marble. We’re not using porcelain countertops that have marble stamped onto them so that you think that they’re marble and when you feel them, you’re like ‘Somethings not right…’ Whenever you can use an honest material, real stone, real wool carpet, real countertop material, real flooring material, real wood…Honest materials are gonna make your space look more luxurious.” 32:05 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 65Insider Publishing Tips | Interview with Krissa Rossbound Editor Traditional Home Magazine

We have a very special guest with us this week named Krissa Rossbound, who is a veteran and the Senior Style and Design Editor for Traditional Home Magazine, and we are giddy to have her here. We discuss topics such as how the current state of this country and the education system doesn’t favor art or prioritize helping people develop their own personal style, so it’s a journey on which one has to go the extra length in order to discover for themselves. Listen to how we discuss traditional design and how to go all about it in today’s market. Intro 0:00 Working at Traditional Home 1:00 About Krissa and her journey 4:00 Cultivating personal style 7:10 What separates Trad Home from other publications 18:00 Difference between publication print and online presence 23:20 Being featured in print 25:35 The white kitchen 33:00 How far ahead traditional home is working 37:20 Accessing different magazines 42:00 Email for Traditional Home 45:50 What people should spend their money on 51:40 Finding a great photographer 60:30 “Something that I’ve learned to do over time is really edit myself and learn to pause for a moment, enjoy what I’m looking at, realizing I really don’t have to take this home with me. I’m going to look at it wherever it’s displayed and maybe take a picture of it and remember it that way, but I don’t have to bring it home with me because you do that and then sometimes it just doesn’t work, or you didn’t really actually want it, and I think that hearkens back to that idea of understanding your personal style.” 13:25 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 63Listener Questions | More Burning Questions Answered

Today we are doing listener questions, which we always enjoy because we get to see how you guys are living, what problems you’re facing, and we get to help you answer them, which is kind of why Dear Alice was born. Dear Alice is our take on Dear Abby, which is an old advice column that was written, and we are actually doing that exact thing right now for interior design. You guys are sending in pictures now, which really helps us to better know how to be more informative. Intro 0:00 The worst date we ever had 1:30 Keep things cohesive or refinish? 9:40 Beautifully designing entry and foyer 12:25 Helping the living room warm, inviting, and functional 17:20 Brazilian Cherry flores and bleaching 24:10 Brand and color of Jessica’s siding shingles 30:45 How to add more romance to your home 33:00 “When you do refinish the floors on the upper level, they might be different colors because the years, and the sunshine, and everything on those 2 inch floors maybe two years earlier, because maybe you’re not gonna get to that renovation stairs for a couple of years, but it’s on another plane, it’s on another level. You’ve gotta get it right when you’re doing it because nobody’s gonna go back and refinish floors.” 11:40 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Design Insider | Sourcing the Best with Marvin Wilkinson

Today we have guest Marvin Wilkinson who has the most fabulous store in the Denver Design District and Scottsdale. He has just the top shelf brands and with him you can find a secret tunnel into a magical world of offerings only offered to designers and we consider Marvin as ‘El Presidente’ of this world. We know him because he is one of our reps and educates us designers on what’s newest, what’s best, textiles, wallpapers, de Gournay, etc. Marvin is an artist at heart, a curator of beauty, and incredibly dynamic, so Suz insisted that he be on the podcast because people are gonna eat him up. Intro 0:00 About Marvin 1:00 How he started 5:30 Where to save and where to splurge 11:00 The difference between Gracie and De Gournay wallpaper 13:45 Favorite up and coming brands 17:40 The best show 19:10 What’s new, what’s next 22:30 Developing your relationships 32:30 Follow through and follow up 35:45 What have the past 30 years taught you? 38:45 “I really need to hear what you are looking for instead of me just automatically thinking I know what you’re looking for. I think that’s really important for working with a design community. I think just being able to communicate properly and pull stuff out of other people and try to get their information and what their needs are, I think is really important.” 33:02 johnbrooksinc.com @johnbrooksinc https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 56Agree to Disagree Listeners Edition

We’re gonna fight it out a bit today on this podcast episode. This is a continuation of our episode from last week and it’s just our listener’s comments when we polled our Instagram audits. We wanted to get to these since you guys took the time, so that’s what we’re doing today. We discuss the various designer styles you see here in Utah and which ones we agree with or do not agree with, but also there’s a lot of good in having variety. “Be effortless. Be believable…” “Don’t try so hard. I think that goes for anybody.” Intro 0:00 Design services 1:00 Best meal 5:10 Other designers’ styles in Utah that we agree or disagree with 8:15 90s oak cabinets in the kitchen and not looking 90s 14:10 Where to put marble 18:30 Where to save vs where to splurge 22:45 Open floor plan and tall ceiling vs cozy and separate spaces 30:55 Karate chopping pillows 37:05 “Today the cabinetry goes to the ceiling, or there’s a soffit with crown molding, but there’s no longer the dust collection. Nobody has done honey oak since the 90s. I don’t know if it’s gonna come back or not. Our oak came around again and it came more grayed, or ceruse, or toned down, but we have better lacquers today that don’t yellow the woods like they did in the 90s.” 15:01 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 58Agree to Disagree | Our Opinions Unfiltered

Your hosts here on Alice lane have different opinions from each other. We’ve gotten some questions in and we find that we feel differently about these things and felt like maybe we should fight it out for you guys. We decided to just let it out and see what happens and we will still remain friends afterward. One example of something we talk about is having the TV above the fireplace and Cori says he has his TV above the fireplace, which Sue and Jess definitely disagree with style wise, but respect that he has made that decision. Intro 0:00 An awesome review and most embarrassing moment 1:20 The TV above the fireplace mantle 12:30 Theater rooms 18:00 Kids sleeping with parents in bed 24:50 Pools and jacuzzis 28:10 Kids toys 33:30 Living room 40:00 Engineered hardwood 45:10 “I personally have a sand and finish floor meaning we went and bought the wood planks, white oak, installed them all, water popped the grains, stained it, all the different layers of lacquer, the tedious process of doing a sand and finish floor…now everything is perfectly engineered. You get a perfectly finished, baked product in a factory where you don’t have to do it on site with all the chemicals.” 45:20 https://www.instagram.com/alicelaneinteriors/ https://www.instagram.com/alicelanehome/ https://alicelanehome.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceLaneHome https://www.pinterest.com/alicelanehome/ https://www.youtube.com/alicelanehomecollectionsaltlakecity News Letter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=PFcqV5 Learn more about your ad choices.
