Ep 68Seeking God's Wisdom: Unearthing the Hidden Treasure
By Keri Willis“Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.” -Proverbs 2:3So often in life, we search for wisdom in the wrong places. We watch videos, reels, and Ted Talks. We read books, ask friends, and go to counselors of all sorts. All of these can have merit. But where we start and end our treasure hunts is key to unearthing the wisdom God is standing at the ready to give us in generous portions. Throughout Scripture, wisdom is equated to a treasure. Romans 11:33a tells us, “Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God…” Colossians 2:3 points us to where the treasure is hidden; “In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” And James 1 tells us that all we need to do is ask for it.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers
Ep 67Called to Worship - A Nighttime Prayer
“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.” -Isaiah 6:3Dear Jesus, we come into your presence with our hearts in worship and adulation to you. We ask you to cleanse us by your blood and make us clean in your presence and acceptable to offer praise and glory to God. We throw away all of our titles, our crowns and everything that we can consider possessions to be proud of. We recognise that our earthly titles, possessions and accolades pale in comparison to your presence. Lord, we come before you in worship because we recognize your greatness, your power and might. Be pleased with our praise as we continue to chase after you with our hearts full of praised. Amen Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers
Ep 66Called to Worship
By Anneta Pinto“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.” - Isaiah 6:3On each occasion the presence of God evoked worship and exaltation of His glory and his holiness. The angels never ceased crying out about the glory and the holiness of God. The elders fell prostrate before God and abandoned their crowns and symbols of glory. Their own glory paled in comparison to the glory of the omnipotent God. Isaiah recognized his state of uncleanness when he faced God, John responded with weeping and Ezekiel fell on his face when he heard the voice of God. Their automatic response was worship, adulation and awe at the majesty of God. The weight of his presence caused the spirit within them to yield in worship. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for his good pleasure. Worship is intimacy with God as an entrance into his presence. Worship from clean hands and a pure heart as we express our love, gratitude and adoration for him. We are created in his image and likeness and our being and existence speaks of the glory of God. Ep 63Thinking Like God - A Nighttime Prayer
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.” – Psalm 111:10 Father God, today we come to You and ask for Your wisdom. We know that on our own, we are unable to walk in wisdom or to choose wisely. Father, as I read Your Word today, would you give me wisdom? Would You speak to me through the eternal and unchanging power of the Bible? I pray that I would be able to share Your wisdom in a gentle and winsome way to everyone in my pathway today. I pray that from this day forward I will think Your thoughts and embrace Your wisdom. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers
Ep 61Godly Wisdom: The Key to Good Decision Making - A Nighttime Prayer
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 5:1Father, how easy it is to become impatient with decision-making. Life puts so many demands on us, that we can become too hurried to stop and ask for Your wisdom in making day-to-day decisions. Yet we know You seek to guide us in all things, and that the decisions we make every day have a tremendous impact on our lives and our calling. Help us to stop and seek Your wisdom, even on the little things, so that we might make Godly decisions. Thank you for the gift of free will, and thank you for your generosity to us in all things, including your willingness to guide our every step. In Jesus' name, amen. Ep 60Godly Wisdom: The Key to Good Decision Making
By Kim Gentry-Meyer“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 5:1I’m learning I must lean heavily on scripture to help guide me in making decisions through the lens of Godly wisdom. One of my favorites for this is James 5:1, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” I love this verse because it emphasizes the generosity of the Lord. He doesn’t just offer us a little wisdom now and then; He offers it generously and continually. And He offers it not only on the big decisions of life, but on the little things, too (the things I tend to make a mess of!). Having a decision-making partner who is the literal source of all wisdom is comforting, indeed! How different our lives will be if we take Him up on this offer to seek His wisdom in our daily lives. Ep 59Wisdom When You Need It - A Nighttime Prayer
“Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! And blessed is your advice and blessed are you....” – 1 Samuel 25:32-33Gracious Lord, You alone are wise and hold the keys to all knowledge. Yet you have promised to generously share Your wisdom with me when I ask for it. Thank You for giving me Your words in Scripture, to show me the way to Your abundant life. When I hunger and thirst for guidance, help me to trust in Your Holy Spirit to comfort and fill me with Your faithful goodness. When I face the challenges of tomorrow, please walk beside me through the fires and trials, so that my feet may not slip. Lord Jesus, let Your light continue to guide me on my life journey. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” - James 1:5Dear Lord, I desire to grow in Your wisdom. Ep 56How to Gain Wisdom ... Ask God
By Mary Armand“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” -- James 1:5 God is not interested if we are winning in life. He seeks to be close to us so we reflect His love through our lives. Ultimately, wisdom builds our life on the solid rock of Christ instead of the shaky ground of chance, indecision, or discouragement. A life built on the solid foundation of Godly wisdom provides a compass for guidance and helps us withstand storms.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 55Wisdom to Do the Right Thing - A Nighttime Prayer
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13 NIVHeavenly Father, I sometimes find myself in situations where I feel unfairly treated. In these moments, I often believe that the best way to handle it is to take the burden completely upon myself and do what I feel is best. But I know, through your Word, that this is not the best way to handle things. Father, I ask that you would grant me the wisdom I need to process through what is wrong and lean on you for divine guidance as to what the best solution might be. Lead me and guide me to be the person you need me to be. I pray these things in Jesus's name, Amen!Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers
Ep 54Wisdom to Do the Right Thing
By Charlaine MartinWho is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13 James 3 tells us that our words have the power to influence people for good or destroy them. James follows it with wisdom in verses 13 through 18. Wisdom helps us control our words by yielding our will to God’s will. Certainly, our anger might be justified, but what we say and do changes the outcome. The world may tell us to follow our hearts, but God says that letting our emotions affect our decisions will only lead to trouble. By humbly yielding our will to God, He empowers us to release our pride and put His Word into practice, producing peace.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 53Turning Wounds into Wisdom - A Nighttime Prayer
I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence . . -- Proverbs 8:12Father God, with You alone is true wisdom found. And though I hear it calling and want to receive it, my emotions still imprison me to wounds I can’t seem to heal. Lord, pour Your healing balm of understanding and reason into the broken places in my heart. Heal the hurts so that I might gain the wisdom that is from You. Ep 52Turning Wounds into Wisdom
By Lori AltebaumerI, wisdom, dwell together with prudence . - Proverbs 8:12Unfortunately, our wounds are more likely to produce feelings and emotions instead of wisdom. Wisdom isn’t the product of emotion, though acting on our emotions often brings us an opportunity to gain wisdom. Most of the emotions we experience after being hurt arise from lies we believe why we were wounded. I deserved to be hurt because I’m not . . . smart enough, kind enough, pretty enough, good enough. The list goes on. But God’s Word tells us we are created in His image (see Genesis 1:27). Through His Word we know we are His masterpiece (see Ephesians 2:10).Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers
Ep 51Trusting the Unseen - A Nighttime Prayer
Why do you stand afar off, O Lord? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble? -- Psalm 10:1-2Father, I want to learn how to trust you more in the times when I feel like I cannot see You working. Things that weaken my faith are giving up control, fear of the future, anxiety, doubt, and worry. Help me to put these away and remember You are in Your Holy Temple, You are in control, and Your plans will always be better than any I come up with. Even when the world seems nothing but pain, strife, and confusion, help me to focus only on You, the everlasting One. In Jesus's name, Amen.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble? -- Psalm 10:1-2Have you ever heard someone say, "I like Jesus, but if I could just see Him, then I'd believe?" Of course, this isn't true because many people saw Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead, and some still didn't believe He was the Son of God. Ep 49A Race Everyone Can Win - A Nighttime Prayer
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. - Proverbs 16:9Dear God, I thank you for not counting us out. I thank you for coaching us back into the throws of life. Thank you, that no matter how many people count us out, you never do. God, you constantly see the good in us. You have never lost faith in us. Your Spirit is always there to encourage us, dust us off, and put us back in the race. Lord, I pray for the woman reading this. I pray that she continues to trust you. That she knows no matter how bad the fight is, with You, she can fight a little longer. I pray that she is strengthened in the fight. I pray that she reaches her finish line and can rejoice in everything you will bring her through. God, I thank you for where we are, but also, for the plans you have for us. Ep 48A Race Everyone Can Win
By Monique NketahThe heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.- Proverbs 16:9Despite our best efforts, and doing everything right, we may not win every battle that comes our way. It can be hard to see the sunshine through the pain. However, there is one race we can win. When we are counted out, God still calls us a winner. When we are shattered by the trials of life, God…still has a plan. No matter where we are in our race of life, when we place our trust in Him, we win. We can trust God to work everything out for our good. So, no matter how much life has knocked us down, we can get back up. Even when it looks like we are too far behind, we can stay in the race and finish. With God, no loss is ever a loss. We can fight another day. We can make it through this season of life.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

But some days that is harder to do than others. Please lead me and guide me to love others as I would love myself. And in relation to myself and my desires, please show me the best way to achieve my goals, the ones that you have put in me, not the plans I have decided are best. Ep 39Trusting God to Direct Our Path
By Laura Maser"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." -Proverbs 3:5-6In this episode, we share a deeply personal experience from our morning quiet time, where we meditated on the concept of trust in God. Struggling initially to focus, we prayed and felt God's guidance, leading us to Proverbs 3:5-6. This scripture encouraged us to trust in the Lord completely and not rely on our own understanding. The Holy Spirit illuminated the difference between acknowledging and submitting to God's will, using the analogy of obeying traffic lights to highlight the importance of true submission for a safe and guided path.We then recount two tragic real-life examples that challenged the notion of trust in God. The first involves a couple who lost their home to a fire, and the second details a pastor's family affected by a fatal car accident. These heartbreaking events brought forth the question, "Trust God?" Despite their profound grief, both families exhibited incredible faith and resilience, finding solace and purpose through their trust in God. Their stories serve as powerful testimonies of unwavering faith amidst unimaginable trials. Finally, we reflect on the broader scope of God's work through seemingly small but significant events. From miraculous births at the pregnancy center where we volunteer to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, each instance reinforces the importance of trusting God. Scriptures like Psalm 139:13-14 and John 14:1-4 remind us of God's intricate care and eternal promises. This episode aims to inspire listeners to deepen their trust in God, regardless of life's storms, and find peace in His steadfast love and guidance.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 37Strength in the Storm
By Sarah FreymuthOne thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.” – Psalm 62:11-12In this episode, we delve into the awe-inspiring power of storms and draw parallels to the mighty power of God. From the thunderous roars and lightning strikes to the relentless rain and bending trees, the elements of a storm showcase nature's uncontainable force. Yet, this immense power is but a fraction of God's might, as reflected in Psalm 29:3-9, which describes the voice of the Lord thundering over mighty waters, breaking cedars, and shaking deserts. Through this vivid imagery, we are reminded of God's unparalleled strength and the reverent fear it can instill in us.As we reflect on the power of God displayed through nature, we also recognize His gentleness and care for our hearts. The God who formed the universe holds us in the palm of His hand, guiding our lives, answering prayers, and nurturing our relationships. In the midst of life's storms, we can find solace in knowing that God never sleeps nor slumbers and keeps a watchful eye on His children. Whether we are weary or overwhelmed by the challenges we face, we can turn to the Lord and experience His unfailing love and strength. This episode encourages listeners to place their trust in God, who works all things for good and shepherds us through difficult times. Despite the raging storms in the world and within our hearts, we are reminded that God is in control and can calm our fears and uncertainties. By embracing His power and love, we can find strength and comfort, knowing that the same God who calms the seas also brings peace to our hearts.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 34Safe and Secure in the Power of God - A Nighttime Prayer
"He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it. He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness. The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke. By his power he churned up the sea; by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces. By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent. And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?" --Job 26: 7-14, NIVDear Mighty Lord, thank you for never failing me. Please open my eyes and ears to the marvelous wonders that surround me. By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent. And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?" -Job 26: 7-14, NIVIn this episode, we recount a moment of awe and reverence as we stood in the damp grass of an open field, witnessing the breathtaking northern lights. The scientific explanation of this phenomenon fades in comparison to the incomprehensible power of our Creator, who fills the dark sky with dancing shades of green, red, and white. This extraordinary feat of nature reminded us of God's magnificent presence, inspiring us to offer praise and thanks for His wondrous creations.Have you ever found yourself marveling at the sheer beauty of a moment or feeling the all-consuming presence of God? Perhaps you've experienced something so powerful and miraculous that it left you with an unexplainable sense of wonder and peace. In this episode, we reflect on how easy it is to forget these divine encounters during challenging times, often taking matters into our own hands instead of seeking God's guidance and wisdom. Through the story of Job, we explore how remembering God's faithfulness and sovereignty can bring comfort and assurance, even in the face of adversity. As we grow in our faith, we learn to surrender our chaos and confusion to God, inviting the power of the Holy Spirit into our lives to restore peace. Like Job, we can find refuge in knowing that our mighty God, who holds the world in His hands, loves and cares for us. We encourage you to spend time outside this week, marveling at God's majestic works, and to remember His deeds through journaling, reading the Word, and prayer. When we think of God's power, we often recall the grand miracles of the Bible—Noah's flood, the plagues of Egypt, and Lazarus rising from the dead. These awe-inspiring acts showcase God's sovereign control over nature. However, there's another dimension to God's power—His quiet, transformative power to forgive. Today, we explore this subtle yet profound aspect of God's nature. We'll delve into the story of Corrie ten Boom, who experienced the divine power of forgiveness even in the aftermath of unimaginable suffering during World War II.I will also share a personal journey of struggling with deep wounds and the steps I've taken toward forgiveness, inspired by God's boundless grace. Yet, through God's limitless power, we find the strength to forgive, demonstrating a miracle that glorifies God in its quiet, yet powerful, way.Join us as we uncover how the quiet power of God's forgiveness can flow through us, enabling us to extend grace and mercy, even in the most challenging circumstances.Read moreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 30Embracing God’s Power in Our Weakness - A Nighttime Prayer
Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2 Corinthians 12:8-10Father, help me feel content with my weaknesses because you say you perfect your strength and power in them. Lord, I ask that you even help me boast or rejoice, as Paul says, in my weaknesses rather than despise them. Help me trust you with all of my weak places, especially the ones that bother me the most, because I know this is where your power will be shown the greatest. After all, your Word says you choose what is weak to shame the strong. Help me never to trust in my strength and power but to boast in yours. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. Ep 29Embracing God’s Power in Our Weakness
By Susan McilmoilThree times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. For when I am weak, then I am strong.- 2 Corinthians 12:8-10In this episode, we delve into the profound message of 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, where the Apostle Paul reveals a counterintuitive truth: God's power is made perfect in our weaknesses. Susan Mcilmoil shares her personal struggles with anxiety, highlighting the tendency to view weaknesses as obstacles to usefulness. Paul's experience of pleading with the Lord to remove his thorn yet finding strength in his weakness offers a compelling perspective. We explore how God's economy is different, where power does not solely manifest in grand miracles but is also perfected in our frailest moments. We often associate power with strength and invincibility, but in God's kingdom, power comes through vulnerability. By embracing our limitations and anxieties, we create space for God's grace to work profoundly within us. This episode encourages us to stop striving to eliminate our weaknesses and instead to see them as opportunities for God's power to be displayed. Susan reminds us that Jesus Himself modeled this truth, walking in human weakness yet fully relying on God's strength. His journey to the cross exemplifies how humility and reliance on the Father can lead to ultimate victory. As we reflect on Paul's message, we understand that acknowledging our humanity and weaknesses qualifies us to carry God's power. This episode challenges the worldly notion of overcoming weaknesses by our strength. Instead, we are called to rest in God's sufficient grace and let His strength shine through our frailty. By embracing our vulnerabilities, we allow God's power to transform us, leading to true freedom and victory. Join us in this powerful exploration of how our weaknesses can become the greatest conduits of God's mighty power, bringing hope and renewal to our lives.Read moreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 27God's Empowering for Patient Mothering
By Kathy Collard Miller “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” - Ephesians 4:26In today's episode, we dive into the profound truth found in Ephesians 4:26, "Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil." This verse reminds us that feeling anger is natural, but how we handle it is crucial. Kathy Collard Miller recounts a harrowing moment from over forty years ago when she lost control of her anger with her toddler daughter, Darcy. In the throes of her rage, she felt hopeless and feared for their future. It was a desperate prayer to God that began her journey toward understanding and overcoming her anger.Through God’s Word, Kathy learned that anger itself isn't a sin, but unchecked anger can lead us down a dark path. Ephesians 4:26 illuminated this truth for her, showing that God provides the power to manage our emotions and respond righteously. Fellowship played a vital role in her healing, as sharing her struggles with a neighborhood Bible study group led to powerful prayer and accountability. James 5:16 emphasizes the importance of confessing our sins to one another, and Kathy experienced firsthand the healing that comes from such vulnerability. Moreover, exposure to others' encouragement and recognizing her perfectionism were critical steps in her transformation. As Hebrews 10:24-25 and Philippians 1:6 guided her, she learned that God's work in us is ongoing and often gradual. Accepting this allowed her to witness God's power manifest in her life slowly but surely. Today, Kathy looks at her adult daughter and marvels at how God's healing power has not only restored their relationship but also turned her anger into a ministry that helps others. Join us as we explore these four ways God empowers us to overcome our challenges and find hope in His unending strength.Read moreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 23One Simple Question Transformed My Understanding of God
By Amy Olrick“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33In this episode, Amy Olrick shares how one simple question revolutionized her relationship with God. I have overcome the world," Amy recounts joining a women's Bible study during her children's toddler years. An older woman's advice to ask, "God, what do you want me to see?" in times of hardship initially met with skepticism. However, as Amy faced challenges like raising three boys on a tight budget, she began to embrace this question, discovering God's provision and care in the everyday struggles of life.Amy continues her story by sharing moments of exhaustion and desperation, where the question, "God, what do you want me to see?" brought her comfort and guidance. From the biblical account of Elijah under the juniper tree, she learned that God meets us with rest and recuperation, without guilt. In times of deep loss and heartbreak, the question became a lifeline, revealing the steadfast kindness of God through the story of Peter's betrayal and stubbornness. Amy found solace in the God who draws close to the brokenhearted and builds unshakeable faith.Throughout life's transitions—from changing diapers to sending kids to college, through the ups and downs, and in the face of a broken world—Amy discovered that God's answer to her question remained constant: "I Am with you. I will not let you go." This episode invites listeners to find peace and assurance in the presence of God, even amidst troubles, as promised in John 16:33 and Matthew 28:20: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age.Read moreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 9Faith, Freedom, and Gratitude
By Kim Gentry-MeyerI will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out Your precepts.” Psalm 119:45In this episode, we explore the profound experiences of a recent visit to Washington, DC, where our host had the privilege of touring the national monuments and memorials. The quiet respect, expertly crafted structures, endless rows of heroes' names, and personal mementos left by family members evoke somber gratitude for those who have fought to secure our freedoms. Unexpectedly, this journey also sparked a deep connection to Christian faith. From the Bible verses in Abraham Lincoln's speeches at the Lincoln Memorial to "Praise be to God" inscribed in Latin on the Washington Monument, the tour felt like a faith walk, intertwining themes of faith and freedom.Later, the visit to the Museum of the Bible and their virtual aerial tour of the same sites deepened this connection further, revealing even more Biblical references throughout the city. These experiences highlighted the importance of gratitude and the ease with which we can overlook our profound gifts. The ultimate freedom in Christ, paid for at the highest price, and our societal freedoms, including the freedom to practice faith, are privileges that can be taken for granted amidst daily chaos. This episode encourages listeners to prioritize daily moments of gratitude, thanking the Lord for freedoms, and seeking His guidance in making choices that honor them. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 119:45, "I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out Your precepts," the episode emphasizes that walking in freedom is both a privilege and a responsibility. Listeners are invited to reflect on what it means to walk in freedom and to commit to making choices that honor these freedoms in their daily lives.
