Ep 100Go the Distance - A Nighttime Prayer
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. -- 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NKJV).Heavenly Father, I just ask that You would help me to be be more disciplined in my faith. I pray that you will help me to make the right choices, not ones that are convenient and comfortable, but ones that are ordained by you. I ask that you would guide me to constantly seek peace, joy, and contentment in my decisions and steer me away from greed, envy, gossip, and anything else that might lead me astray. I am forever grateful for your loving compassion for me even when I don't deserve it. I am quite thankful for your loving guidance. By Lilka Finley RaphaelDo you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. -- 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NKJV).The race set before us requires discipline as well. We may not strive for gold, but we serve a purpose in our Father’s plan. Athletes continually push themselves to reach new heights and milestones. Unfortunately, many of us merely do what we have always done regarding spiritual matters. We may go to church or spend time with God yet never experience greater intimacy with the Lord or an eagerness to serve Him.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 98Why Should I Meditate on Scripture? - A Nighttime Prayer
“My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word.” — Psalm 119:148Almighty Father, I’m so grateful that Your word isn’t simply an ancient book filled with recorded history, letters, poems, and songs, but it lives and breathes through Your divinely inspired words, which are active and powerful (Heb. 4:12), providing a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105) and transforming me day by day (2 Cor. 4:16). I thank you that even on a sleepless night, I can meditate on Your word and be comforted by Your perfect peace, Your faithful presence, and Your transforming truth. I desire to spend more time contemplating all that Your word teaches me about who You are, who You say I am, and how I can now live because I am a new creation in Christ. Help me set aside focused time to meditate on Your word and allow the Holy Spirit to give me a deeper understanding and wisdom to apply to my daily life. Ep 96Growing in Spiritual Discipline - A Nighttime Prayer
"Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you," -- Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)Heavenly Father, we come to you as Your children. We love You and praise Your Holy Name. Guide us into this new lifestyle of spiritual discipline according to Your divine will. Help us to keep our eyes on You and to follow Your voice and shake off things that would weigh us down on our faith journey. Help us to walk the path You have set before us, and not look to the right or to the left. Help us to be Your light in this dark world, while pointing others to You. Ep 95Growing in Spiritual Discipline
By Laura Maser"Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you," -- Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)When we look at the context of this Scripture, the Apostle Matthew referenced basically all our earthly needs, what you wear, what you will eat, what you drink, all you need for your life on earth. But what does that have to do with Spiritual Discipline?Maybe you are new to the faith, and you did not grow up in a family of believers. Or maybe you have not enjoyed clear direction for your spiritual journey. Or maybe you are seeking the Lord in a new season, and you long to hear from Him in a new way. And it is possible that you have been on your faith journey for a long time, leading others, and you hit a dry spell. That's ok! In fact, our Lord, Abba Father, reminds us that He has created a desire in our hearts to know Him and grow in the knowledge of Him, to feel His presence, and to hear His voice. “… train yourself in godliness, for the training of the body has a limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” -- 1 Timothy 4:7-8 (HCSB)Lord, thank you for your desire to spend time with me. Ep 93Spiritual Discipline: Intentional Living
By Stacey Barkley“… train yourself in godliness, for the training of the body has a limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” -- 1 Timothy 4:7-8 (HCSB)When my children were little, I was disciplined in keeping a tight schedule. If I didn’t, they’d become cranky. We ate at specific times and had an iron clad bedtime. Their schedule was important so they would grow strong and healthy. It was necessary for my well-being, as well. I needed to make sure I had downtime along with time for my husband and me to reconnect after a long day.Don’t we all schedule what is important and beneficial to us? Even though my children are grown, I am still disciplined in keeping appointments and events scheduled. I also eat and go to bed around the same time each day. It would not go well if I continuously skipped a bedtime or multiple meals. So, why is it difficult to discipline myself to schedule time with God? I always have good intentions, however, before I know it, the night is gone and I’ve not spent any time with Him.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 89It’s Been Three Days: Have You Remembered? - A Nighttime Praye
“Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. When Jesus was twelve years old, they attended the festival as usual. After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t miss him at first, because they assumed he was among the other travelers. But when he didn’t show up that evening, they started looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions” –Luke 2: 41-46 (NLT)Lord, we’re grateful you’re never far from us. Even when we run away, hide, or forget you, you never leave or abandon us. You live within. And we’re grateful for the gift of your Spirit. Elisha didn’t panic because he was spiritually aware. He knew the Lord’s army was with them. They were not alone. There will be times when our hearts race and panic threatens to creep in. They (the seraphim) were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” – Isaiah 6:3 Dear Lord, we worship You and praise You and bless Your holy name. We marvel at Your creation–from bees to seas. You have thought of everything we need to live a satisfying life. Most of all we thank You for sending Your Son into the world to teach us and finally to die to take the punishment we deserve for our wrongdoings. We marvel at Your salvation. The sanctuary was a holy place that inspired wonder and worship. We sometimes knelt at our pews–sacred moments.Growing up on a farm, I sensed God’s Presence every day. The wind. The rain. The storms. Ep 69Seeking God's Wisdom: Unearthing the Hidden Treasure - A Nighttime Prayer
“Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.” -Proverbs 2:3Dear Wise and Gracious Heavenly Father, You alone are the author of wisdom. Ep 68Seeking God's Wisdom: Unearthing the Hidden Treasure
By Keri Willis“Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.” -Proverbs 2:3So often in life, we search for wisdom in the wrong places. We watch videos, reels, and Ted Talks. We read books, ask friends, and go to counselors of all sorts. All of these can have merit. But where we start and end our treasure hunts is key to unearthing the wisdom God is standing at the ready to give us in generous portions. Throughout Scripture, wisdom is equated to a treasure. Romans 11:33a tells us, “Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God…” Colossians 2:3 points us to where the treasure is hidden; “In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” And James 1 tells us that all we need to do is ask for it.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.” -Isaiah 6:3Dear Jesus, we come into your presence with our hearts in worship and adulation to you. We ask you to cleanse us by your blood and make us clean in your presence and acceptable to offer praise and glory to God. We throw away all of our titles, our crowns and everything that we can consider possessions to be proud of. We recognise that our earthly titles, possessions and accolades pale in comparison to your presence. Lord, we come before you in worship because we recognize your greatness, your power and might. Ep 66Called to Worship
By Anneta Pinto“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.” - Isaiah 6:3On each occasion the presence of God evoked worship and exaltation of His glory and his holiness. The angels never ceased crying out about the glory and the holiness of God. The elders fell prostrate before God and abandoned their crowns and symbols of glory. Their own glory paled in comparison to the glory of the omnipotent God. Isaiah recognized his state of uncleanness when he faced God, John responded with weeping and Ezekiel fell on his face when he heard the voice of God. Their automatic response was worship, adulation and awe at the majesty of God. The weight of his presence caused the spirit within them to yield in worship. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for his good pleasure. Worship is intimacy with God as an entrance into his presence. Worship from clean hands and a pure heart as we express our love, gratitude and adoration for him. We are created in his image and likeness and our being and existence speaks of the glory of God. We know that on our own, we are unable to walk in wisdom or to choose wisely. Father, as I read Your Word today, would you give me wisdom? Would You speak to me through the eternal and unchanging power of the Bible? I pray that I would be able to share Your wisdom in a gentle and winsome way to everyone in my pathway today. Ep 61Godly Wisdom: The Key to Good Decision Making - A Nighttime Prayer
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 5:1Father, how easy it is to become impatient with decision-making. Life puts so many demands on us, that we can become too hurried to stop and ask for Your wisdom in making day-to-day decisions. Yet we know You seek to guide us in all things, and that the decisions we make every day have a tremendous impact on our lives and our calling. Help us to stop and seek Your wisdom, even on the little things, so that we might make Godly decisions. Ep 60Godly Wisdom: The Key to Good Decision Making
By Kim Gentry-Meyer“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 5:1I’m learning I must lean heavily on scripture to help guide me in making decisions through the lens of Godly wisdom. One of my favorites for this is James 5:1, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” I love this verse because it emphasizes the generosity of the Lord. He doesn’t just offer us a little wisdom now and then; He offers it generously and continually. And He offers it not only on the big decisions of life, but on the little things, too (the things I tend to make a mess of!). Having a decision-making partner who is the literal source of all wisdom is comforting, indeed! How different our lives will be if we take Him up on this offer to seek His wisdom in our daily lives. Ep 55Wisdom to Do the Right Thing - A Nighttime Prayer
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13 NIVHeavenly Father, I sometimes find myself in situations where I feel unfairly treated. In these moments, I often believe that the best way to handle it is to take the burden completely upon myself and do what I feel is best. But I know, through your Word, that this is not the best way to handle things. Father, I ask that you would grant me the wisdom I need to process through what is wrong and lean on you for divine guidance as to what the best solution might be. Ep 54Wisdom to Do the Right Thing
By Charlaine MartinWho is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13 James 3 tells us that our words have the power to influence people for good or destroy them. James follows it with wisdom in verses 13 through 18. Wisdom helps us control our words by yielding our will to God’s will. Certainly, our anger might be justified, but what we say and do changes the outcome. The world may tell us to follow our hearts, but God says that letting our emotions affect our decisions will only lead to trouble. By humbly yielding our will to God, He empowers us to release our pride and put His Word into practice, producing peace.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 52Turning Wounds into Wisdom
By Lori AltebaumerI, wisdom, dwell together with prudence . - Proverbs 8:12Unfortunately, our wounds are more likely to produce feelings and emotions instead of wisdom. Wisdom isn’t the product of emotion, though acting on our emotions often brings us an opportunity to gain wisdom. Most of the emotions we experience after being hurt arise from lies we believe why we were wounded. I deserved to be hurt because I’m not . . . smart enough, kind enough, pretty enough, good enough. The list goes on. But God’s Word tells us we are created in His image (see Genesis 1:27). Why do you stand afar off, O Lord? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble? -- Psalm 10:1-2Father, I want to learn how to trust you more in the times when I feel like I cannot see You working. Things that weaken my faith are giving up control, fear of the future, anxiety, doubt, and worry. Help me to put these away and remember You are in Your Holy Temple, You are in control, and Your plans will always be better than any I come up with. Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble? -- Psalm 10:1-2Have you ever heard someone say, "I like Jesus, but if I could just see Him, then I'd believe?" Of course, this isn't true because many people saw Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead, and some still didn't believe He was the Son of God. The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. - Proverbs 16:9Dear God, I thank you for not counting us out. I thank you for coaching us back into the throws of life. Thank you, that no matter how many people count us out, you never do. God, you constantly see the good in us. You have never lost faith in us. It can be hard to see the sunshine through the pain. However, there is one race we can win. When we are counted out, God still calls us a winner. When we are shattered by the trials of life, God…still has a plan. No matter where we are in our race of life, when we place our trust in Him, we win. We can trust God to work everything out for our good. So, no matter how much life has knocked us down, we can get back up. Even when it looks like we are too far behind, we can stay in the race and finish. With God, no loss is ever a loss. We can fight another day. We can make it through this season of life.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers

Ep 47Seize the Day - A Nighttime Prayer
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:13-14 NKJVHeavenly Father, I realize that we are commanded to love one another. But some days that is harder to do than others. Please lead me and guide me to love others as I would love myself. And in relation to myself and my desires, please show me the best way to achieve my goals, the ones that you have put in me, not the plans I have decided are best. Please humble me, strengthen me, and show me the path I should follow. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.Read MoreVisit Daybreak Devotions and Nighttime Prayers
