Cryptocurrency Trading: Strategy Development and Institutional Involvement
In this episode, we revisit a presentation by Bruce Powers, CMT which took place in April 2018 at a Dantes Outlook investment conference in New York. Bruce discussed his outlook on the cryptocurrency market, trading strategies and the inclusion of digital currencies in traditional asset management. It was a timely presentation that still matters for investors today. Firms such as Mass Mutual, Ruffer, and Guggenheim Investments are adopting bitcoin as an asset class. And there's growing interest in the investment advisor community. This means the cryptocurrency market is maturing, which will enable greater access for traders and investors. "The crypto market is unique. It's the first global market that truly operates 24/7. There is a strong herding behavior that drives price patterns in the crypto market. For traders, this creates an opportunity to utilize technical measurements," said Bruce in 2018. His optimism rested on evidence of institutional interest that continues to play out. On strategy, Bruce outlined the automation process of short-term directional positions. The presentation also stressed the need to analyze down-moves relative to up-moves in trading.
